SURELY, that incredible find, wasn't just left there ?? I'd clean that up (not too much) Treat and Frame it , for protection, and Mount it with suitable heavy Screw-Bolts, over my lounge mantlepeice.
I was astonished to learn that info, only recently. Living near Bristol, and being a great fan of the ''LITTLE GIANT'' as he was called. There is a great (BEST) BRUNEL Museum , right alongside the ''SS GREAT BRITAIN'' in Bristol Docks, Which has no equal anywhere. Many of his personal belonings there, Letter's, Sketches, Plans, even one of his used Cigars.
She was both a amazing piece of technology and a example of things to come. She was also a failure of a ship. At least for what she was designed for. Ahead of her time yet also a example of things to come decades later.
What a amazing engineering masterpiece .I wish I had been born 200 years earlier to see the industrial revolution!
I'd like to see the piece either placed in a Museum dedicated to Brunel or at his birthplace in Portsmouth which is now a park.
Crazy part of naval history that should be preserved ! Can't believe how nice the part became once cleaned !
Agreed this is probably one of the only few pieces of Brunel’s last great ship and should be in the museum in Bristol next to SS Great Britain

Maravilloso y hermoso barco el great eastern, magnífica y adelantadísima obra de ingeniería, y para mí gusto y opinión era mejor barco que el titanic.
Feel sad for Great Eastern..

Oi that plate is mine I recovered it in mud three years earlier.
Why is this host/narrator talkin this way? Weird over-exaggerated inflection and spitting!? What the heck were these producers thinking!?
YEAH, HE USED TO APPEAR IN A LOT ARCHEOLOGY TV SERIES, AND ALWAYS IRRITATED ME. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF, BUT NOT GOOD TO LISTEN TO.
