Hi Scott. It's worth all the time and effort when it all comes together. Beautiful photos, I love barn owls, so it was great to see. Really enjoyed seeing the footage and your photos. 🙌
Thanks Scott, they certainly made me work for that one😂 As you say wonderful birds and to be honest I could have spent much longer up there. Thanks for watching mate👍
Well worth the effort Scott, the footage of it flying around the field was stunning. Never get bored of seeing the Barn Owls, amazing birds. Great images to finish with, well done mate. Cheers Keith
Thanks Keith, I did think of your video when you went on holiday and had them flying around in the field behind your cottage😂 No such luck for me mate! Must admit I can't wait to get up there, as you say a pleasure to watch. Cheers and thanks for watching👍
Well done my friend. Another great video. Keep it up and all the BEST..... ❤🧡💛 Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined..
Thanks Bob, they are such magnificent birds to watch and I would happily spend more time up there if I had the time! I'm really hoping to get back up there before the young fledge (for my own pleasure!) Thanks for watching👍
Excellent paid of in the end , it just goes to show the last 2 evenings I got lucky in good light and only there an hour got dozens of images after lots of blanks👍
Thanks Laurence, it has been very frustrating! I did start to work out the flight patterns but I could never fathom there hunting times😂 Hopefully I'll get time to go back and attempt some perched shots! Thanks for watching👍
Amazing footage and images. I have a resident barn owl and wondered about attempting to take some shots with my amateur kit. At least then I can get a close look at who is living there.
Thanks! You don't need a huge lens for this, if you watch them for long enough they tend to have a regular flight path. Once you know it you can conceal yourself and should be able to get the shot!👍
Great video, Scott. I have recently been going through similar with barn owls. Patience is, indeed, key with these things. I always think that they are relatively easy to see, but difficult to photograph. Cheers.
Thanks for watching, I agree they can be difficult to photograph. As you see in the video the main issue I have at this site is that they don't stay in the area for long so if you get an opportunity you generally don't get a second chance! Sory for the delay in replying, I was away! Thanks for your patience!👍
Thanks for watching Tony. I have to say despite the time they made me put in to get the shots they are such beautiful birds to watch it has become a little addictive and I could happily spend loads more time up there. Cheers👍
Fantastic Scott. Loved the video and those owls are just amazing! Great work in capturing them. Thanks for sharing the adventure out mate, enjoyed watching 👍🙏
Cheers Adrian, I really had to stick with it for this one. Fantastic birds to watch when they are hunting and so pleased that I managed to capture it in the end! Really do need some sleep now! Have a great week mate🙏👍
Well put together Scott, enjoyed the map Locations and how you explained the difficulties in getting results! Perseverance paid of in the end, great images and video… well done mate👍
Thanks Richard, I really had to work at this one! To be honest watching barn owls can become a bit addictive as you know. I could happily spend every evening up there if I could get away with it😂 Thanks for watching mate👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Rather too many scouting trips or so I thought at the time. To be honest if I didn't need to catch up on some sleep I could do it every day. Wonderful to be out there in a lovely location. Thanks for watching mate👍
Thanks Julian, it turned out ok in the end (eventually😂) It can be a bit addictive so will be going back to see if I can get him to land on the post I put up. Need some sleep first! All the best🙏👍
Hi Julian, just give me a ring or email at scotttilley6@gmail.com and we can have a discussion when you are ready. It is better to tailor the day to you depending on your interests and kit you are using. All the best! 👍
Just set up over a perfect owl habitat in Scotland but no show yet ! I have been a bit unlucky recently with the Barn owl on Salisbury Plain so I feel your pain ! Last year I had a 50% success rate 🙏🏻
Thanks Mark, it's been so frustrating! Especially when everything seems to be right, lighting, conditions, rain all night, owls with chicks and they just don't turn up on multiple occasions! Here's to you hitting that 50% success rate and above this year mate👍 I look forward to the video👍
Awesome video Scott, and fab images, a lot of hard work went into this vlog and it's truly appreciated. Just good to be there with you on your adventures, thanks Mate 👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks Lee, I have to say I really enjoyed making this one especially as I got the result in the end. It often doesn't feel that way as you drag yourself out at 4.30am (again)😂 Now for some sleep!!
Your efforts paid off Scott, good footage and excellent stills too. It is very challenging trying to guess where the Barn Owls are going to show up. I have been there and luck plays such a big part.
Thanks Paul, so glad to know it's not just me😂 It was very difficult to reconcile at times when you have been there for hours with nothing and then they literally fly over your shoulder as you make your way out as if you aren't there! Thanks for watching mate👍
Hi Giuseppe, at this location the nest site is about 400metres away from where I set up and the owl would come as close as 20metres away from me when hunting over the field. Thanks for watching👍
@@GiuseppeGessa hi, they will nest in tree holes but historically in old barns and farm buildings. These have an old barn but tend to use the purpose built barn owl box attached to the side.👍
Our wildlife seems to be getting hammered from all sides these days. I used to photograph barn owls almost outside my back door in the Trent valley but as the Trent bursts its banks twice a year the owls food supply has been constantly wiped out so the owls have moved on. This site is about four miles from my house and is well established as the farmer rings the youngsters every year and keeps an eye on the barn. Hopefully your owls will find a similar haven🙏👍
Hello Scott Tilley I am Stephen Tilley my ancestors are from England they arrived on the Mayflower. They from Bedfordshire, England do you know where that is? My Father was a Coal Miner.
Hello Stephen, I do know a bit about my ancestors heritage. I believe my family moved up to the Nottinghamshire coalfields from Bedworth which is in the Midlands near Coventry in the 1860's. I suspect they may have gone to Bedworth after possibly travelling from Ireland due to the potato famine.👍

Great footage Scott. I liked your camouflage method using the bush. Beautiful pictures. Just a question: how far was the barn owl from your spot?

My local barn owl site is being prepared for houses to be built on another good habitat lost unfortunately

I think they roost at the same site but need to locate their new hunting territory great video and the photos are stunning 😍
