- 👋 Lets check out the newest G87 BMW M2! The 2024 BMW M2 is a really fun sportscar that is also practical. You can even buy the newest M2 with a 6 speed manual transmission. Today I check out this 2024 M2 equipped with the manual and review every part of it and see how this fun car drives! The M2 has the S58 motor which is a twin turbo inline 6 cylinder. This M2 pumps out 453 horsepower with 406 pound feet of torque. You can still option an 8 speed automatic from ZF if you want a bit quicker gear changes. I really enjoy the manual since it ads some driver engagement. The new style with the M2 is much different than before. Unfortunately the M2 weighs in over 3,800 pounds so it's not the little nimble M2 from the past. But this car still handles very well and takes the turns flat and quick! The M2 is really fun carving through the back roads and has so much power to get out of the turns. Fantastic acceleration and this really is a blast to drive. The BMW M2 has a nice interior with good materials and plenty of modern tech. You have the modern screen that has pretty much all of the cars settings in. I'd rather have physical climate controls, but thats really my only complaint. Overall the new G87 BMW M2 is a fun sports car with plenty to offer!

My little compains are you can't configure the sport display style on m1, m2 button. Everytime the car starts, you have to set it up again. And there is no light mode map on androi auto not BMW map on the instrument dashboard display. It is always in dark mode
I think Kies motorsports just came out with a module to fix that actually!

Question regarding the manual: I’ve heard before the word “rubbery” used when describing the shifting. Can you elaborate what exactly that means when you use the word rubbery? I never understood what that means, even though I’ve daily-driven three manuals in my life, and no clue what a rubbery-feeling maual means 😅.

Here's a video comparing this to my manual Supra. I talk about the transmission feel a bit more. But the rubbery feeling is when you put it into each gear. The shifter feels like you are going into more of a rubbery slot rather then a more solid feeling slot. So there is a lot of give in the shifter vs being more solid feeling

Nothing prepares you for the first weekend you drive an M2 on the roads. I have M1 set to all the comfort settings as well as the engine in efficient and than M2 everything is in Sport or Spot+ with the traction control in MDM mode. Honestly, it is really easy to control that car in Sport+ even in traffic. I feel like this is a good road car overall.

The car looks great in person. All it needs is a front splitter and a rear spoiler.
For sure! There are some fun upgrades for these!
I think Audi S5 is a more practical 2 door sports coupe and a million times better looking with a custom display and binnacle in front of you (they spend much more on R&D) and no weird patterns on the doors by some lady designer.
If only Audi still had manuals
It's a great car too. But much more luxury focused. Not as exciting as the M2. Not even close. S5 is a great daily thats fun. But the M2 is a true full on performance car. Very different style of car. S5 coupe is on par with the M440i
