I've been slowly and steadily picking up Sea to summit items. They are so lightweight and feel robust. I hate it when my pack exceeds a certain weight limit. excessive weight just ruins a good hike.
I used an ultimate Direction 24l for a 4 day section hike of the PCT with a tarp, bottomless net tent and an sol Eblanket and my 40F quilt with a neoair woman’s pad. Everything was 9lbs with my chair.
Impressive ultralight setup! 🏕 Fitting everything into a 22-litre running pack with a 3.1kg base weight is seriously next-level. It's clear you've put a lot of thought into fine-tuning your gear, and I’m definitely picking up some tips for my own hikes. 3.1kg is insane! I couldn't do without a cooker as I find even summers in NZ kinda cold and want some warm food. Also food in general is a problem as I always want to take too much 😂 Thanks for a great video, will check out your other ones

So many cool things :) I keep trying to reduce my weight but each time I run into a problem, I end up increasing a bit again. I wish I could be comfortable with such a short mat! I cut mine down and I just couldn't sleep well. Also, nice work on the tarp! Greetings from Switzerland.
I've been using the Altra Lone Peak 7's since February for tramping and they've been amazing. Most comfortable shoes I've ever worn and I feel so light and nimble even with a pack on. I know trail runners are not for everyone but I just don't see myself ever going back to boots unless I'm doing proper Alpine routes.

Nice and very light setup! Did you consider the Sixmoons Design Gatewood Cape / Tent for better protection? It's not much added weight to your tarp. If you would double use it as a poncho and spare the rain jacket it's even lighter.

Really dialed in, well done! I'll put my pack under my feet with my torso length pad. You ever had issues with Weka (or Kea?) while using your shelter? I have a floorless shelter as well, but it's a single pole pyramid so I guess I feel a little more protected! Does the BD22 keep everything low bounce when running? I like the adjustability of underarm lacing in a vest, but having pocket space there is also really nice. It's getting warmer here in NZ, hope to get out on the trails soon! :)

I haven't used my shelter where there have been weka around and I used it in Fiordland but luckily there were no kea present. I definitely wouldn't want to leave it up unguarded! I get very minimal bounce with the BD 22. The harness is really nice and snug on me so it's not an issue. Happy trails! Cheers.
excellent fair weather setup for trails that you can buy food on every day. Fast and light. If a storm comes in it could get a little rough without the tent tho.

For these types of trips where moving fast is the goal I don't really find much need for it, not to say it wouldn't be handy! Hey man, I'm from Chch. Been watching your videos for a while has been making me want to get out on my first solo adventure. For reference I've done overnight Mt Somers, part of the Abel Tasman track, also climbed Mt Herbert a couple times, had no issues. I'm mid 20s and pretty fit. Can you recommend me a good 2/3 day trip to try in arthur's pass for my first time? I was thinking the Edward Hawdon or Mingha Deception.

Those 2 options are both great choices, the mingha Deception has quite a few river crossings and boulder hopping so you'll want to be confident on your feet and with river crossings. Another option to check out is the Casey - binser saddle loop. It's a super fun overnight loop with some great tramping. Definitely worth checking out! Nitecore make some good headlamps. There are some awesome affordable ones on ali- express. I got the Nu50 was impressed. I am thinking about upgrading to the Nu 53 its 1800 lum with a 6000 amh battery usb c chargable. I like the battery size looks great $85.00 nz i thought that sounded like great value.
I'm not a camper as you know Zeb... but I'm really impressed with the the stuff you find to make your experiences lighter and better.... great job. Glad they don't have wings or you'd fly next! 🤭 but you really walk so fast anyways it's like you have wings! That kit looks great for a single user heading out. Really useful video man, thanks. Which temperature rating is your Sea to Summit bag? I notice the model you use has several options on their website. I attempted a fastpack last weekend (I live in the Austrian alps) with a bag rated for 13C and unfortunately the temperature dropped to 6C and I was miserable all night!
