I saw the Scouts at the finals in KC that year. It is still my favorite drum corps performance of all time. It's interesting to see the changes made in the show from this early season performance to the finals, especially in the color guard, and no cymbals framing the soloist in the closer. Everything about the 80's was awesome, especially drum corp. Will someone PLEASE build a time machine!
jennie moss don't suppose you know anyone who took a video of all the corps on this day ? been trying to track down a copy of the pride of Bristol show from that day ..
Oh wow I started in the 4th Stoke and then went to The Sunrisers but I used to love your shows back then. I always remember Bingley Hall, you were pretty much always 1st and us 2nd 😂 I think we may have won one year but to be honest I can't remember that far back now. 😂Great memories ✌️😎
My brother is 100% that is at a ground called Kenilworth road in Luton, it also ties in with your corps tour diary of that year. Great memories of that day
@skurtzweil Damn, no yard lines ALWAYS sucks! There's no way to check your work! LOL! Did a TRACK show on a BASEBALL field in high school (1987, I believe)...OY!
Old school drum and bugle Corp, did not always have Mark Fields baseball fields, totally unmarked fields oh, did not make a difference to us, we were there to do a job and we did our job. The marching bands of today count on Mark bills because that's what marching bands do. Big difference between real drum and bugle Corps and the marching bands of today.

@skurtzweil I remember using soprano cases as yard markers in Germany.
Even in Europe, everyone loves the Scouts!
Seven man pit, and those guys CARRIED the opener!
I was a Scouts soprano in this show. Can you guys tell me which city it was? I'm killing myself trying to remember but I think it was Leeds.

Those lead soprano parts definitely got hosed down before finals - the canon especially shows it, and the triplets aren’t there in the end product.

Is there no yard line and hashes?
When you know what you doing you don't need a yard line, as in Real Drum and bugle Corps.
@@americanspirit8932 Unless you teach the drill to the hash and yard lines, as most corps do.
