The vast majority of american aid can only be used in exchange for goods and services in the US. The vehicles we give are old warehouse left overs / coalition approved vehicles. Munitions have expiration dates and either need to be sold to allies or sent back to factories for tax dollars to decommission.

I had a russian open minded friend...before the war, he loved eu countries/society and democracy, he even bought a villa in Crete (Greece) , and Richone (Italy). When war started we had very bad discussions and this open minded friend changed totally. He later admitted that was a member of Putin party organisation. This war woke up his imperialistic feelings.
Later was very visible to me that these 2 villas he bought in Greece and Italy were from putin organisation money. After a small research through different common friends, i discovered that his 2 villas were confiscated from the respective government of Italy and Greece.
However, still today i can't understand how is possible that this good friend changed so drastically...can a propaganda really wash your brain and spirit?

I think that this is a very smart military decision for Ukraine. Not only does it show weakness in Russian defenses, it also forces Russia to be more wary of their entire border with Ukraine. But the amount of territory already being controlled by Ukraine at this point in time is going to be incredibly difficult for Russia to regain without withdrawing thousands of forces from Ukrainian occupied territory.
Ukraine saw a weak spot in Russian defenses, and they took the opportunity. Sounds like a very solid military decision to me...

Russia has always had a military that is large yet terrible. Outside of the Stalin era.
It was terrible then too. Just look at the winter war with Finland, they made som gains at the end, but the cost was enormous, 350.000-ish casualties vs Finlands 70.000 casualties. Same method, meat wave attacks. A tactic used during ww2 as well, full mobilization and just send wave after wave of men to their death. They still have demographic problems for losing almost an entire generation during ww2. 68% of the 1923-born male cohort did not survive ww2.

If I recall correctly, there was something like 1 rifle for every two or three Russian soldiers. The plan was to attack, if the guy you were next to got shot, then you picked up his rifle and kept on going. Just a meat grinder. The Nazi's were the far better army, but Hitler got them stuck with long supply chains that couldn't be used in the middle of winter. They ran out of bullets and gas. Just awful on both sides.

Maybe this is just about getting Ukraine back in the news, and showing what they could do with more support. Even experts can only guess what's happening on the ground and what objectives Ukraine can accomplish. At first, some commentators acted as though Ukraine had no idea what it was doing. Apparently, Ukraine has a plan. I wish them good success.
What’s most important: while the war was raging in Ukraine only, Putin could control the propaganda. With this new situation, Putin can’t deny this counter-invasion. It’s a total embarrassment for him and his military leaders, and the longer it takes to push the Ukrainians out again, the worse for him.

Remember the radioactive cloud going north because of the prevailing winds after the disaster at Chernobyl? If RU dares use a nuclear weapon, Ukraine can retaliate and the NPP will send a radioactive cloud immediately to Moscow, 300 miles due north. This invasion is ridding RU of its nuclear threat through “mutual deterrence” and actually preventing WW3. The West could ensure, and long could have ensured, the deterrence by giving permission to Ukr to use Storm Shadows and other long-range missiles to take out the NPP, if justified. I wouldn't expect a politician to understand what a military pretext is and how these events will play into justifying brutality unleased upon Ukraine in the near future.
