    I'm happy to see that Atlas has had the foresight to maintain a historic archive of all their production. I've been a Atlas customer since the early 1960's. Thanks for sharing!

    +jlwii2000 Is Atlas in business? I used to get Model Railroad items from Standard Hobby Supply.. Athearn and the 'classic' old Rivarossi locomotives were the best! Are there any 'surviving' Model Railroad supply stores in Texas? It's getting next to impossible to find... I still have an old Atlas design layout board, but I need new power pack(s) to run the tracks and accessories. What 'scale' is HO? 1/87? or 1/83? I've seen some diorama's look very life like..

    • @jlwii2000
      @jlwii2000  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, Atlas is absolutely in business. They produce a ton of rolling stock and several locomotives as well.

    • @lawnmowermanTX
      @lawnmowermanTX 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jlwii2000 OK! Any authorized Atlas places in Texas? Is there a catalog to subscribe to on current prices and available accessories, power supply packs?

    • @AbelG8781
      @AbelG8781 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lawnmowermanTX what scale? There are plenty of brick and mortar shops around the nation but here in Texas it's hard to fund an actual hobby shop with good models like this.

    • @lawnmowermanTX
      @lawnmowermanTX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Abel G i agree, i got an old rivarossi HO scale Cresent steam locomotive.. the train board is in storage.. some rolling stock, various rail cars.. all HO scale, yet in Texas i feel the hobby died. Hobby Supply Co. was a great catalog company to order locomotives and tracks but they went out of business in the late 80’s or 90’s.. then DCC and sound chip boards simulated locomotive sounds.. then wiring, schematics and the prices skyrocketing... but then i knew guys being exceptional artists drawing backgrounds of scenes they capture the essence of what took place... turning houses into HO scale dioramas and realistic operation that should be used to train or educate next generation of locomotive engineers.... but automation are cutting labor as well.. Yet the hobby got expensive to continue...

  • @NScaleRailroad
    @NScaleRailroad 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice archives, to bad they don't have a good n-scale coupler, accumate is junk, now their prices are about the same as Micro-Trains, sorry Atlas, I won't be paying high prices, since I use MT's on all my N-Scale why pay around $20 or more then add $8 for a good coiupler, I'll be going Micro-Trains.

    • @lawnmowermanTX
      @lawnmowermanTX 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +N-Scale Railroad Yes, some of the artistic pricing, did force me out of pursuing expansion and upgrade. I had put an ad in the El Paso Times back in late 80's... looking for model railroad and model ships... I had several bites, and found out, some guy's that collected rolling stock and locomotives were getting out, because the price hikes, and the wives nagging threatening divorce... Luckily, the guy that had the ships, sold them cheap and I saved them.. But... I saved a train board my Dad made back in 1985-86.. Using an Atlas layout design... I drew streets and used lego to hotwheel, matchbox cars.. But the prices from Standard Hobby Supply kept going up, and the selection was shrinking.. The last locomotive was a Rivarossi Yard Goat 0-8-0... Back in October 2004, but the wheels were so shallow, and the gear box was so huge, it didn't run well on the tracks.. they weren't the tall rails... It's still in the box..

    Nice that somebody got to show this off to the world but geez, would it have killed you to think of a couple good questions to ask, or something interesting to find and show? Poor Jared had to lead the entire video because otherwise it is awkwardly fast-paced window-shopping between aisles. Not hating, just kinda disappointed that we only got to see this for 6 minutes, with maybe 2 minutes of any sort of informative content...
