Here we go with the 2nd update but what else do you want to see, i'm doing my best to make these videos feel a lot different from the main ones and not use clips in both but let me know what to see in these BTS update videos. Thanks to Barrett steel for helping out with the steel, this one needs a lot more strenght adding which means a lot of steel so show em some love.

Colin, out of safety of you, your family and your property I am saying this after years of watching your channel. I applaud your engineering efforts for making your home a more unique design AND as a Civil and Structural Engineer especially specialising in ground works / temp works I would be seriously remiss in being negligent in asking you to PLEASE wear a safety helmet and or some protective gear like steel cap toes. These are not hard to obtain. I would also caution you never to cut walls direction under a foundation vertically without not considering the 45 degree zone of influence and load distribution. The issue of direct cutting can cause differential settlement which is a serious undermining condition.

He could feel the smallest “oddities” through the controls. He stopped for a phone cable and another time for some rotten timber. He never damaged anything we didn’t want dug anyway. Other drivers, when he wasn’t available, were just plain destructive. So we always waited for the top chap.

It's amazing what you do, I just love all these videos and the idea of expanding the secret bunker and tunnel project! That said, I also believe that even if the metal rusts in 40-50 years, you have all the concrete outside to provide stiffness and avoid any kind of critical structural damage. By that time (even long before) the concrete itself should be enough to provide sufficient strength, to avoid the tunnel from crashing. Having read the other comments I also agree to just pouring concrete directly outside of the steel - or maybe paint the outside of the steel to provide additional rust protection although I think the concrete with rebars can uphold the structure even if all steel rusted away... Good luck, I love seeing these videos!!! 🎉

He technically did with the ram device that pushes up through the ground to break sections of it off. That waste then goes into those buckets to be hauled off. When it gets farther along the track and minecraft cart will be back to transport the buckets of dirt and rock out of the whole. Which hopefully he has some taking the fill dirt for free, as it all nice clean uncontaminated dirt which can be expensive. Colin, you need to find or make a shoe cover that can be removed without the need to take the shoes off. Lots of layers a bit like the visor tear-off strips on an f1 helmet but that covers the whole shoe.

Undermining. First mention here in the comments I reckon!
I have no idea how the house, garage and boundaries don't collapse from undermining, especially if it rains after you do the dig 😆 Love this project, but jeez it's sketchy af, flip-flops and all! ☘

If that was me I would be extremely worried about that roof drainage pipe, I think it would be on the very top of my list of things to get sorted. But, seeing that Colin is a plumber by trade, I have no doubts it will be diverted very quickly! This whole build is just so damned epic! Though one must wonder what the not so friendly neighbours are making of it all, seeing that this bit is rather on show!

I'm confused why you say that. are you the type of neighbor to bitch and moan every time your neighbor has something delivered, doing home improvements and repairs, or having fun with music playing? Most neighbors are normal people who instead of getting pissy they'd mind their business or even better have a nice conversation where they socialize with each other and become friends so both of them might be able to enjoy what the other is having done. Like what if someone starts to rebuilds a house next to you; do you really think the big ass excavators are going to be quiet and only work after you have left for work???

The tunnels are very novel and most likely unwanted by most - especially in the sort of area he lives in.

You would just need to find the right buyer, which is the difficult part. But I don't think he's planning on selling it anyway.
I know in London, it's actually very common in the upper neighborhoods for the ultra wealthy to dig 2 and 3 story basements under their homes to increase their value. Just look it up, there are several documentaries about it.
