    Yes , that's a quite negative review must have been on your man period. These bikes are awesome and very capable bikes.

    Thanks for a great review Richard! I learned to like the SWM but I wouldn't say I love it... I used to have an old Tenere 660 and the biggest advantage for me was the lower centre of gravity and ease of handling of this bike. Also lifting it off the ground is a lot easier :) But seat is hard (even the "comfort seat" I have), standing up is a bit awkward and it needs revs to get to the smooth range of power so gearing should be a lot lower. So with a few tweaks it could be made more user friendly, but - as you said - it is a good value for money and I tried to spend as little money as possible on upgrades. It got me where I wanted to get, but I'm starting to look for a replacement. If anybody is interested - it will be a bargain!

    This Starter motor sound... I love it!
    And it's kinda funny how even this is the same as on my 610 Husqvarna :)

    New brand? I rode a SWM 175 enduro bike back in 1981, so the brand has been around for a while.

    Thanks for the review 👍 here in NZ this bike has a bargain deal 8k+ NZD but can't beat DR650 in my opinion 🤝

      I would have to agree with you. The DR650 a solid, proven bike. ABS and EFI would make it sensational. And maybe a better seat...

    Your comparing a 50,000 klm bike that's been across the world with a KLR of your own that you are probably quite used to. There is no department that the SWM is not far superior than the KLR. Previously I would have said the KLR is probably better than the SWM in longevity, but given this SWM has done 50,000 across central Asian countries where fuel, oil and general maintenance may have been a bit scarce I may retract that longevity statement. I would take my SWM over our rocky hilly high country tracks long before the KLR. And after a 5 day trip up into the riverina dirt roads last year with bikes like the KTM's 1290's, 1090's BM's Triumphs etc I am very happy with my SWM, lots of cruisy 130 - 140 kmph stretches. I geared my bike tof that trip.

      The only comparison made with the KLR650 was the 6th gear. Everything else was based on initial thoughts and observations from a "test ride" rather than a long term review perspective.

    Hello EscaoeArtist, do you think this bike is suitable for a complete beginner with zero experience? If not, what would you recommend as good adv/dualsport to start with?

    • @escapeartist7900

      I think it would make quite a good bike for a beginner. It's light and has more than enough power and capabilities to keep a new rider interested. My biggest concern would be reliability. This particular bike belonged to a friend of mine. He rode it from Nepal to London and it was his daily commute at home. He was never entirely happy with it, felt he couldn't trust the bike to not break down. After several break downs in remote areas he sold it. Personally, I would buy a DR650 or 400. Great bikes with superb reliability. Learn on that and then move up in the market if you feel the need to.

    Yeah... you've convinced me. I'll keep the KLR. I do like the idea of less weight, but half the difference will be fuel.

    • @escapeartist7900
      @escapeartist7900  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Less weight would be nice for sure. One of the reasons the new KLR650 is copping so much flak. If only they'd made it lighter..

      @oneblackdogrides 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@escapeartist7900 Yes, but lighter would cost more. And it's "just" a KLR.

    I suffer fr Om dicks disease being l’m 5’6” in the old scale. Is this bike too tall for me?

    • @escapeartist7900
      @escapeartist7900  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I don't think it would be. Quite a low seat - not a particularly tall bike.

    Pathetic review. I love my superdual. Such an awesome all rounder and pushing close to 70000 kms it has been extremely reliable. It leaves the KLR for dead

      What a sad world it is where people buy a product, use it extensively, are happy with it and then watch reviews about the product they are happy with only to then get upset if someone else's opinion differs to theirs, feeling the need to remark and insult because their own opinion hasn't been validated. You are the problem with the world today. Just jog on wanker.
