Yeah, each of those pieces that fly off has the potential to hit and damage things. One of the devs mentioned that he shot off an armor panel on his opponent's ship, and then it flew at him and hit one of his maneuvering thrusters, which stopped him from turning left, and caused him to lose the fight.
I feel like it will probably start out as an unintended mechanic that freezes 2 ships in place and then will probably change to whoever's has a strong beam isnt affected or maybe they do cancel each other out either way I'm excited

@@gentlemangamer1041 There must be other sensors as the wiki states it's possible to live without a head or other limbs as long as the torso is still functional, however i would assume you can self destruct as i imgaine playing without any limbs would be hard.

The wiki is still vague about what actually happens when a robot loses a head. We can assume a loss of functionality, but what happens? Man I love games like this. We are debating the science and possibilities of virtual robots.

Can the arc cannon (the lightning gun) be used to disrupt ships/stations externally, or only when inside of the ship? IE: will it arc along armor or be grounded by armor/structure.
Just please don't go full EVE online and hunt down random innocent players that are just having fun mining just so you can decorate your ship in ''trophies'' from the some truly sad kills

Cam you scuplt asteroids into scupltures? Can you move if you get locked into a cargo hold? Can you build a ship around an asteriod, like have it be a part of your hold?
Remember the limb loss mechanic? Just imagine a limbless torso headbutting it's way towards your boarding party at full speed as you watch helplessly from the mission progress monitor their life signs disappear one by one, hearing distorted robot screams and frantic gunfire over the coms, knowing damn well theres nothing you can do to help them.
That last one has convinced me to go full space pirate. Pirate themed cosmetics would be awesome, peg leg, hook hand, cape, and hat, and all that. I see that the asteroid wrecking ball works wonderfully, truly a weapon to be feared! Are you able to manipulate the asteroid to act like a fast traveling projectile? A demonstration would be greatly appreciated! #AsteroidMeta ...It's not a meme, it's a way of life.

I’m so excited to see the biggest ships collide with each other. Also can we see a side by side comparison of the kingdom and empire ships so I know which ships I like? So you’d put empire fighter next to kingdom fighter, gunship next to gunship Etc. Overall you’re doing great work, especially for something no one else has even attempted yet.
I don't know is there is currently a comparison picture of all the Empire and Kingdom ships together. You can find a picture of the Empire ships on the Starbase Discord!
If a ship can't fly out of a tractor beam and you can use YOLOL to auto pilot ships, could you make a smart missile out of a ship? release the tractor beam to fire it and YOLOL to guide it to target? also have lots of explosive components so it goes boom on impact... Please frozenbytes if it's possible can you try this.
Ehm, just notice something with the cargo beam: If I remember correctly it engages as soon as beams from three different sides hit the vehicle: If that does indeed disengage the trusters, wouldn´t it be possible to build a relatively small craft that just ladges on to the outer edge of a battleship where it can jsut barely hit ti from three sides (for example right, top and back) and disengage the whole battleship? Seems like it can be exploited rather easily.
@@SangerZonvolt any organized crew able to own a battleship would recognize this as the more dangerous target and destroy it before it could get close. Plus battleships usually aren't alone, they have a lot of fighters or frigates with them.
For the second test, did the ship hit the back of the cargo bay because it does not inherent the ship's velocity, or because the cargo ship was still accelerating?
Very funny way to answer Q&A :) Would be cool if you made space "inertia free" so a released ship/Astroid would continue with the velocity it was accelerated to when cut lose.
No. A game of this sort can only do so much with the engine it is built upon. What you are asking for or wanting is WAY beyond the scope of what this engine is capable of for gameplay. I hope that you understand this explanation.

Please tell me there will be an explosive warhead... I can already see so many possibility's, aircraft carriers, mine layers, "flares" (missile defense using debris in a cargo stasis chamber), large ship missiles (ships set to full throttle forward with a warhead or something else at the tip, trapped in a cargo beam), and more. As a side note, can you imagine a ship covered with the heads of fallen foes.
i'm wondering if you can build a ship inside an asteroid and be like a hermit crab. Go hide in an asteroid field and start surprise attacking unsuspecting miners.

They aren't even particle effects. They are actual parts of the ships flying off of them. Makes destruction much more interesting.
