    Motorcycle rider here. 12:50 that one way always gets a lot of people 😅. I learn't there you also have to be super careful of people pulling out of that first exit of wadcroft carpark right on the corner of old m&s. I was fairly new to riding and knew i wanted to turn right at the end so moved over to the right lane really early as I came around the bend and i was going maybe just shy of 20 mph as i got to the wall after those metal gates and an old chap and his missus in a car rolled right out of that exit in front of me. I could see he was looking my way as well but clearly right through me. Perfect example of looking but not seeing. Just managed to employ the mod 1 avoidance but it was very very close. I now make a habit to be very careful down that stretch for people exiting wadcroft car park.

    Thanks so much, this was exactly the reason I failed my previous test, working so hard to pass this time around by April 🙏😭

      Glad to help. Basically, if you have learnt to drive and get to a standard where you can stay safe when those around you aren't, then all you are doing on test is doing what you always do!

    I was giggling when he came up on the one way next to Morrisons. I fell for it as well on my first try in a lesson missed the one way sign, 🙈 my instructor ripped me a new one. Such a common mistake

    Thank you for the video's. Please how soon can one have a mock test this week. 6th and 11th May. Thanks

      Hi, Thanks for the enquiry, we are too booked at such short notice and our lessons start and finish in Market Harborough (or close to). We are looking for instructors in Kettering and surrounding areas to join us, but at this immediate time, we cannot do a mock test with those dates. This government website lists all registered ADI's based on your postcode, so this might be able to help you find a suitable ADi to provide a mock test.

    Can u explain why he would have failed his test in the 1 way system as it was clear he could have take either left or right at the junction?

      Hi David, Thanks for the question.
      The video is set on Commercial Road in Kettering. But this situation up and down the country gobbles up a lot of the learner drivers £62 test fees! Remember In the UK driving test, a serious fault is a fault that could POTENTIALLY be dangerous or cause a hazard to other road users.
      In a driving test this situation would be recorded as a serious fault for failing to respond to road signs and road marking (or words to that affect!)
      The student signalled right and entered the left lane. He was going to turn right. On the test, unless it was dangerous to do so, he would have been allowed to make the right turn and continue on the test and told of the serious fault at the end of the test. However, I asked the student to signal left and make a left turn so we could review the situation while it was fresh in his mind.
      If you are at the end of a one-way street and you want to turn right, you should of course take the right-hand lane and signal right following the road markings correctly. If you take the left lane and signal right, this would be considered a serious driving fault on test because it is potentially dangerous and could cause confusion for other road users (including pedestrians).
      Taking the left lane on a one-way street suggests that you are planning to turn left which can be confusing for other drivers if accompanied by a right signal. If you then turn right without switching to the right-hand lane, it could potentially cause a collision or force other drivers to take evasive action to avoid a collision.
      Therefore, it is important to take the correct lane and signal in the correct direction to ensure that other drivers can anticipate your movements and react accordingly. Failing to do so could result in confusing other road users and is deemed a serious fault on a UK driving test or, more importantly, a potential hazard on the road.
      I hope that answers your question.

      @R Drive School of Motoring Thanks for the swift reply. So in other words he swerved to the left and then signalled - which was the fault. As opposed to staying in the right lane which is what he did on the second run? I was confused about the fact he was going in the correct direction in the one-way system. Goes to show listen to instructions. Thanks again.

    • @RDriveSchoolofMotoring
      @RDriveSchoolofMotoring  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The fault was simply positioning in the left lane with the signal and intention to turn right. So, not observing road markings (ie the left arrow). He didn't even swerve, he just moved to left lane position as if it was a normal two way road, so missed all of the one-way signs and paint which should have told him to position in the right lane for a right turn.
      So a lesson in Take and Use Information!!

      @R Drive School of Motoring Thanks again. A very easy error to make even for an IAM advanced driver like myself. I'm trying to get someone to test quality and will be taking them around this route.

    Great video but I was wondering about the double roundabout, is it punishable if you indicate on it?

    • @RDriveSchoolofMotoring
      @RDriveSchoolofMotoring  ปีที่แล้ว

      If turning right, probably not. But I suggest you don't signal right at the first roundabout as it could show you're turning through the roundabouts and doing a U-Turn. So treat it as straight (no signal) to the 2nd roundabout, then left signal for the exit you take off the second roundabout. I hope that makes sense

    OK. This is handy. I'm taking lessons atm but nowhere near ready to take my test. Too much to take in for my old brain, it's beyond frustrating.

    • @RDriveSchoolofMotoring
      @RDriveSchoolofMotoring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Scott, Just go at your own pace and don't rush things. It is quite a skill to learn to control the car, then even more of a skill to be safe and confident in any situation. Too many rush and 'get through a driving test' to then be one of the 20% of new drivers that has a serious accident in the first year of driving. You will know when you are ready to be safe and solo, but don't compare yourself to others and don't force things along.

      Thanks pal, wise words. I'm not familiar with the roads in Kettering yet, lived in Corby all my life and never needed to go there, but I've got a good instructor in Jat and hopefully I'll be driving by the end of summer.
      Thanks mate.
      Take care 👍

    hello! I really like the videos! A tip would be to put subtitles because it helps those who don't speak English and have hearing problems

    • @RDriveSchoolofMotoring
      @RDriveSchoolofMotoring  ปีที่แล้ว

      Really pleased you find the videos helpful. We don't make any money from these videos, they are just here as a helpful aid for those looking to drive or improve their driving. Unfortunately, we just don't have the time to make dedicated subtitles . I believe the videos are auto translated if selected with the TH-cam capabilities though.

    Those 1 way signs are pointed towards the road, Hard to see, they should redesign those things and have them facing the drive coming down the road. TYPICAL PATHETIC ROAD SIGNS.
