So, before watching this, I saw a "deficiency", wanted to address with a quick nute soak, decided to wait it out based on the advice here. My problem was a slight over watering problem. Letting it get dryer than I was more comfortable with before watering again yielded incredible results. While, I didn't think I was over-watering, I was, Newbie mistake!
I had the opposite going on with one, got too dry and hot and locked out!! Basically hitting the eject button too early on that one, sadly. Lessons learned, now back to the EarthBound ones in the greenhouse. They look awesome, 8-footers already... around!😎👍👌
When the leaves are still nice and perky, but the pot is light...really light weight. That's when you water again. If you go too far in between waterings, you'll get the leaves drooping. That's when you've gone too far and most likely affected root hairs vs root shafts. Shafts absorb water, hairs absorb nutrients. When root hairs die, only root shafts remain, hence why growers can easily over water. It's not nutrient lock out, it's the death of the root hairs. I feed once every 3 waterings. I hardly ever get deficiencies. Good luck ✌👍
When I moved to my current house, I had no idea that my well water was going to be such a major issue. I have a filter on my main to remove sediment. Outdoor plants were fine, but as I used the water on my container plants, I noticed deficiencies. I tested my water as little as an hour after correcting the pH, it was creeping back up. By the next day it was 9.4! My tds meter was not accurate and what I discovered after having the water tested was that I had an extremely high level of dissolved carbonate. The filter will not remove the dissolved solids so I installed an RO filter system for my indoor plants and the water comes out at 6.4. Add a little food and it is right between 5.5 - 6, I don't even need to correct it at all. But for months I could not figure out what was going on and it was extremely frustrating.
Yeah my well water is around ph 8 but when it goes through my salt system (or resin idk) its somewhere in the sixes.. I have a bypass for outside so I dont use my "filtered" water but when watering in pots, it creates deficencies. I correct that by adding a bit of sulfur to my soil.
@@seekerfloyd7346 I went and got one of those meters to measure the moisture, and I generally will water when it is on the drier side of moist, but that is like 4 inches down. I am growing in tents in my house. It’s just confusing for me as for some reason my babies aren’t doing as good as they did last year. arghhhhh.

No matter what you grow with the ph has to be perfect! In veg they can handle 5.8 - 7.3 ph but during flower they absolutely have to be beetween 6.2 and 6.8 ph. It's best to always be in the 6.2 to 6.8 ph! 6.5 is pretty much perfect ph! :)

To cover your deficiencies in micronutrients mineral magic of GHE is perfect besides bringing a lot of bioavailable silicate to your plants (which considerably strengthens their structures) it also contains magnesium, calcium, sulfur and iron in well thought out proportions.
I have a tiny 2.5x2.5x6' tent. I learned quick when to feed and how much. I use the Humboldts Secret A/B bundle at 1/3 dose , a little CalMag then Ph to 6.5. Works out great too.. Less is more 😎

Both are very effective, you wanna mist the underside of the leaves for foliar and the rate is 5ml per gallon, I do 2ml for half gallon. You want pure epsom, not fragranced, menthol etc..
To add.. root rot is very common with beginner home growers and they think it's a deficiency so they keep adding and adding and adding. Trust me root rot is probally the single worst thing and most common amongst beginner growers besides the usual bug problems.

@@me-mj5dt I'll typically germinate or plant the sprouts right in their final pots and start normal feeding as soon as the cotyledons begin to die back. This way I avoid hardening stress and transplant shock entirely. Some hardship is good for 'em, but if you're doing long runs all those traumas add up and the hormonal chaos of being "reborn" will be tough enough as it is. Indoor flower and veg I do in the same tent, so after harvest all I need to do is flip the lights back to start the next cycle. If I'm doing a manifold (which I need for a strong base) I'll start in the nursery under T5s because you can get really dense node spacing without worry of overheating, but for humidity control it's only rooting clones that need special attention. Everything else I let adapt to their permanent habitats from jump street and then disturb them as little as possible. The truth is I'm not really growing plants. Mother Nature does most of the work, I'm just the concierge fetching water and trying not to monkey things up.

If you want legit yields organic in a soil medium is NOT the way to go, you get a plateau with that combo. I'm talking indoor home grower not commercial..
Check ur soil ph b-4 you plant in the soil. If the soil ph is off, the nutes will lock out or will be less effective. With super "hot" soils, they will be acidic.
This is good advice you can also start with a supersoil blend and add a good general purpose dry fertilizer. I like fox farm ocean forest with down to earth 444. Super easy grow... I don't check shit plants grow flawless

I have an actual farm not for cannabis and my soil is super nutrient rich and dark amazing soil but I have to change ph of the soil for whatever crops I'm growing! Blueberries need 5.5ph while bananas need 7.5+ ph. Living soil doesn't automatically support all forms of life. Theres acid loving plants, neutral loving plants (cannabis) and alkaline loving plants which are mostly tropicals! 99% of all species are acid loving species because 99% of the worlds living soil is super acidic. Ph is the litteril most important thing as a gardener. Melons and pumpkin will only grow in alkaline conditions in a super tight ph range making them one of the hardest to grow plants because their ph requirements!

I dont use any nutes just organic stuff like worm castings and mulch and compost but I still have to ajust my soil ph all the time on my farm with calcite lime or dolomite lime depending on if I need the ph to change quickly I'll use calcitic or If I'm preparing the beds during winter for spring ill use dolomite which takes like 6 months to affect ph while calcitic takes like a week to affect ph!

When humidity is too high, the rate at which plants draw water from the soil is reduced because transpiration is slowed by the smaller-than-normal water gradient between the plant and the atmosphere. This can result in diminished nutrient uptake efficiency, which can lead to nutrient deficiencies. I fixed it by getting a dehumidifier and watering once a week instead of 2.

Yup, all you need is one NPK ratio the entire grow, this multi bottle programs are a marketing scheme to sell you a lot of products. If you look for example how pros grow hydro tomatoes (rockwool), they use the same formula from veg to flower/fruit. There is really only one rule you have to care about with nutes if you're going salt/hydro - Calcium sources (mostly Calcium Nitrate or Calcium-ammonium Nitrate) has to be kept in a separate bottle/tank before you put in a solution. Calcium reacts with Sulphates (which is mostly epsom salt) and Phosphates (monopotassium phosphate). Other that that just keep your N-P-K-Ca-Mg-S ratio like 5-1-7-4-1,5-2 and you're golden. Plants don't need much P in flower it's a myth. 30ppm is enough..

I feed my plants the same way all the way thru start to finish 1.4 to 1.7 ec with no problems im just a home grower so I'm not on a time limit since I started feeding the same all the way thru ive had no problems
One thing I've never read is how much water/nutrient mix should be given. For example I have several plants in containers similar to those in the video. When I mix the 5ml/liter solution as an example, do I mix 12 liters of water for a 40 liter pot or give the plant 1 liter? The concentration is the same but the amount of water is obviously much less. In my opinion the plant also needs water with said nutrients but to what volume? Should we water until it runs out the bottom?
@AL Capone Thanks for the reply. To be honest I haven't heard of Remo specifically but have looked at other two or three part nutrients. I'm currently using Medi one products and recently purchased some Gaia green bloom. I have an EC meter and often water through and measure the TDS. Even then I feel getting a consistent feed and water schedule is elusive.

Bad watering, specially over watering causes a bunch of deficiencies, that in reality are not deficiencies due to nutrients not being, but rather due to root health....
If small enough a garbage can over it. Or if big use a tarp.. light deprivation! Light deprivation (light dep) is a cultivation technique that takes advantage of a plant's photoperiodism capabilities, tricking it into flowering sooner than the natural cycle. This is accomplished by simulating the day and night cycles of late summer months with photoperiods of 12-hour light and 12-hour dark.
So there really is no such thing as "overwatering". What you're doing is not letting your roots breathe by watering too often. If "overwatering" was true then Hydroponics and DWC wouldn't be possible as the roots sit in the water the duration of its lifetime

It's hard to fix especially if your plant is NOT in flower where at least it'll consume a ton of water in 5 days if its actively growing. Overwatered veg plant are just chilling unless you're really pushing the growth in my experience But yes it's all about the roots/microbes not breathing. In soil it's just hard to fix quickly
I love a good pedantic argument. Did you guys know that ' Sativa ' and ' Indica ' are labeled incorrectly ? The correct botanical term for ' Sativa ' is 'Cannabis sativa var Indica' and it refers to the tropical/south East Asian variety. ' Indica ' is actually classified as '. . . var Afganica' , and theres a third variant called ' . . . Himalayensis' . Ruderalis is just a botanical term for a wild type plant. And another thing , all of those sativa/Indica ratios on the seed packs are completely made up . I've seen no genetic test results. Even if they were using the correct terms , how could they possibly know ?
Generally he meant that you would like your plant to be running out of N as you get to flush or finish. I begin to reduce when I estimate the plants have 3-4 weeks to finish
I only use nitrogen in small doses if the plant needs it during flower. The first weeks of flower I like to cut back on nitrogen to make room for phosphorus. If you use heavy nitrogen with phosphorus your ppms will be in the danger zone and the plant doesn't need much N anymore in this phase. "The cannabis plant uses 80% nitrogen in veg." According to Harley Smith.

Depends on alot of factors. Rh, temperature, ect. I use the pick up the container method. If its heavy its got plenty of water

Some of mine have been through seedling, sapling, veg, flower, veg, flower, and are now back in veg for a third run.
Can't argue that fact. I run my seedlings and veg in the same RH room. Just feed them different. Do you find that using a different RH room for seedling make much difference? Curious. I'm only running 2 rooms right now

@@me-mj5dt I'll typically germinate or plant the sprouts right in their final pots and start normal feeding as soon as the cotyledons begin to die back. This way I avoid hardening stress and transplant shock entirely. Some hardship is good for 'em, but if you're doing long runs all those traumas add up and the hormonal chaos of being "reborn" will be tough enough as it is. Indoor flower and veg I do in the same tent, so after harvest all I need to do is flip the lights back to start the next cycle. If I'm doing a manifold (which I need for a strong base) I'll start in the nursery under T5s because you can get really dense node spacing without worry of overheating, but for humidity control it's only rooting clones that need special attention. Everything else I let adapt to their permanent habitats from jump street and then disturb them as little as possible. The truth is I'm not really growing plants. Mother Nature does most of the work, I'm just the concierge fetching water and trying not to monkey things up.

If you want legit yields organic in a soil medium is NOT the way to go, you get a plateau with that combo. I'm talking indoor home grower not commercial..

Check ur soil ph b-4 you plant in the soil. If the soil ph is off, the nutes will lock out or will be less effective. With super "hot" soils, they will be acidic.
Or grow in living soil and never concern yourself with pH, EC, or PPM ever again…..
This is good advice you can also start with a supersoil blend and add a good general purpose dry fertilizer.

@@WestSide-hl1dl living soil still has to be ph controlled. The water needs to be ph controlled to or it change the ph too! I have an actual farm not for cannabis and my soil is super nutrient rich and dark amazing soil but I have to change ph of the soil for whatever crops I'm growing! Blueberries need 5.5ph while bananas need 7.5+ ph. Living soil doesn't automatically support all forms of life. Theres acid loving plants, neutral loving plants (cannabis) and alkaline loving plants which are mostly tropicals! 99% of all species are acid loving species because 99% of the worlds living soil is super acidic. Ph is the litteril most important thing as a gardener. Melons and pumpkin will only grow in alkaline conditions in a super tight ph range making them one of the hardest to grow plants because their ph requirements!

I dont use any nutes just organic stuff like worm castings and mulch and compost but I still have to ajust my soil ph all the time on my farm with calcite lime or dolomite lime depending on if I need the ph to change quickly I'll use calcitic or If I'm preparing the beds during winter for spring ill use dolomite which takes like 6 months to affect ph while calcitic takes like a week to affect ph!

Root bound could also be the problem & not the nutrients or water at all! It can happen in the ground but most of the time would be a plant in a pot.

When humidity is too high, the rate at which plants draw water from the soil is reduced because transpiration is slowed by the smaller-than-normal water gradient between the plant and the atmosphere. This can result in diminished nutrient uptake efficiency, which can lead to nutrient deficiencies. I fixed it by getting a dehumidifier and watering once a week instead of 2.

Yup, all you need is one NPK ratio the entire grow, this multi bottle programs are a marketing scheme to sell you a lot of products. If you look for example how pros grow hydro tomatoes (rockwool), they use the same formula from veg to flower/fruit. There is really only one rule you have to care about with nutes if you're going salt/hydro - Calcium sources (mostly Calcium Nitrate or Calcium-ammonium Nitrate) has to be kept in a separate bottle/tank before you put in a solution. Calcium reacts with Sulphates (which is mostly epsom salt) and Phosphates (monopotassium phosphate). Other that that just keep your N-P-K-Ca-Mg-S ratio like 5-1-7-4-1,5-2 and you're golden. Plants don't need much P in flower it's a myth. 30ppm is enough..

One thing I've never read is how much water/nutrient mix should be given. For example I have several plants in containers similar to those in the video. When I mix the 5ml/liter solution as an example, do I mix 12 liters of water for a 40 liter pot or give the plant 1 liter? The concentration is the same but the amount of water is obviously much less. In my opinion the plant also needs water with said nutrients but to what volume? Should we water until it runs out the bottom?

So there really is no such thing as "overwatering". What you're doing is not letting your roots breathe by watering too often. If "overwatering" was true then Hydroponics and DWC wouldn't be possible as the roots sit in the water the duration of its lifetime
Overwatering in soil refers to the lack of oxygen available because it's saturated with too much water and the microbes/roots can't breathe

@@izzem even with drainage in a fabric pot, if you overwater you can't just remove it. It's hard to fix especially if your plant is NOT in flower where at least it'll consume a ton of water in 5 days if its actively growing. Overwatered veg plant are just chilling unless you're really pushing the growth in my experience
But yes it's all about the roots/microbes not breathing. In soil it's just hard to fix quickly

The correct botanical term for ' Sativa ' is 'Cannabis sativa var Indica' and it refers to the tropical/south East Asian variety.
' Indica ' is actually classified as '. . . var Afganica' , and theres a third variant called ' . . . Himalayensis' .
Ruderalis is just a botanical term for a wild type plant.
And another thing , all of those sativa/Indica ratios on the seed packs are completely made up . I've seen no genetic test results. Even if they were using the correct terms , how could they possibly know ?

Generally he meant that you would like your plant to be running out of N as you get to flush or finish. I begin to reduce when I estimate the plants have 3-4 weeks to finish
I only use nitrogen in small doses if the plant needs it during flower. The first weeks of flower I like to cut back on nitrogen to make room for phosphorus. If you use heavy nitrogen with phosphorus your ppms will be in the danger zone and the plant doesn't need much N anymore in this phase. "The cannabis plant uses 80% nitrogen in veg." According to Harley Smith.
