F30 328i owner here (not remapped). I live in the UK and the car feels very fast and is frankly overkill for here - but once you hit the autobahn and get to 220+ you realise it gets out of puff at those very high speeds. So, if you are lucky to live in/close to Germany definitely get a 6 cylinder, if not the N20 is a brilliant performer for those stuck with silly speed limits.
Just got myself a G30 530i xDrive, that B48 is way faster and smoother than I expected it to be. Initially I wanted B58, but my wallet didn't like that. So I test drove my friend's 530i and I was blown away - clearly the best car I have driven so far (although F32 440i was great too). This car takes off from stand still really fast, the turbo spulls up immediately. Kickdowns are fast too, though the pickup from low RPMs is - realistically speaking - the main difference that sets B48 and B58 apart. In B58, the pickup is instantenous, whereas here you need to wait for like 0.5-1.0s, but if you're gonna stomp on the pedal or use Sport mode or put the gearbox into S mode - either of these will make the car react faster. Any harder acceleration and you are already in danger or losing your driver's license. You really don't need more than that. And the fuel consumption is good too, 6.0-6.8 l/100 km on the highway @ 120 km/h, city driving 7.7-8.5, but it consumes the most during parking and when taking off, so it averages closer to the 9.0, which is still impressive, no way B58 is gonna come close to that. The fuel consumption is very sensitive to your gas pedal position, if you make that turbo do its work, the consumption soars noticably. The car can roll for really long, use that to your advantage and you will be fine.
I have an F30 328i with the N20 and I’ve had it for around 5 years. Other than general maintenance, I’ve had no issues with it. Granted, I am a stickler with maintenance. But a nice AWE exhaust, Bilstein coils, and some wheel and tires along with some other mods make it a banger of a daily!

Nice review! I drive the 430i F32 with the B48 engine and M Sport Package. It's the sweet spot between power and fuel consumption. Although it is not a super sports car, it is now faster than an M5 E34 was in 1992. I love this car and am still happy that I bought it. No issues so far, even though it has run more than 100k km.
@@michaflak1370 really? That’s awesome! I am surprised that this is possible. That engine seems to have a lot of reserves. However I’m a bit worried it might harm the engine over time. @@dukenukem4454 Don't worry about the engine, it has a long way to its limits. There are people on yt running 500hp on these with upgraded turbo, 300hp is nothing.
