I love the shots of Buddy with Tal right behind him laying down a solid shuffle line - old & young; black&white - Its all good and its all killer blues. Also Beck & Guy - two greats that dare to play outside the box and make it sound amazing!
Man, Blues Legend Buddy Guy, With Jeff Beck, Man it just doesnt get any better than this. If only these two and B.B. King were together for a Blues Jam that would be a sight to behold!!!
I saw Buddy a number of times. He once jumped from the stage in Central Park; outrageous. At the Bottom Line, he wandered over the first two tables..."That's the end of your rope!," I told him. "The end of my rope," he parroted. Classic. Good nature. Great guitar.
Crikey! January 10, 2023....Jeff's just left us...Buddy's still with us. "So It Goes." "It's a great Life....if you don't Weaken." (Hope to hear Buddy in Toronto in March ...if I live that long !)
Buddy might be the master of the Blues, when BB King is the king of the Blues and Muddy Waters is the Godfather of the Blues and Robert Johnson invented the Blues
I had the absolute honor of meeting Mr. Guy and speaking to him about music the last two days. I feel beyond privileged to have had this opportunity. Not only is he a guitar God and responsible for people like Hendrix, SRV etc but he is a true gentleman and a very humble individual. I asked him what it was like to have people like Beck, Page and Clapton fall at his feet. He just smiled and said, "Those boys are my friends." It was beautiful.
Man I mean jeff beck is a legend guitar master in his own right But buddy guy. Man that guitar bend at the end of his solo made me cry. it shows that it's all about emotion.
I've been lucky enough to see Buddy about 35 times. At his worst he'll something from his endless bag of tricks that'll make you say, "Jesus! Nobody alive could do what he just did!"
+Austin Gonzales You must live n Chicago then? I visited the city two weeks ago and was like a stupid teenager when Buddy came on stage! And was even worse when he agreed to a photograph with me! Better still was that he came onstage and sang.........the stuff of dreams from somebody in the UK who's loved the Blues for 50 years!
+Ann TwoShoes living in Chicago, I am amazed how many locals are NOT aware of our city's musical legacy. Aside from seeing some amazing rock shows in the 70s and 80s, I greatly appreciate having been able to see blues greats in person on a regular basis - popular local acts like Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, Eddie Clearwater, James Cotton and Lonnie Brooks, and national acts like Miles Davis and Ray Charles at Chicago's wonderful Jazz Fest and Blues Fest …not to mention local jazz legends like Von Freeman, Corky Siegel, and other local virtuosos like Howard Levy and Bela Fleck, and folk greats like songwriter Michael Peter Smith. I hope you can visit again!
Saw a Buddy Guy concert when he was 79 and he was amazing! Played a solid two hour show. Man, I hope I can do that when the time comes. Oh and Tal, she's so young here and looks a bit nervous, but she's the real deal. Well, duh, Jeff Beck toured with her.
Her name is Tal Wilkenfeld, she's Australian, born 1986. She's played bass for Clapton, Beck, Gilmour, the Allman Bros, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock amongst others.
Saw Jeff and Buddy the same day in 1969 at the Laurel Pop Fest,, and Jeff did this very song with Rod the Mod on vocals and Rolling Stone Ron Wood playing fine bass.
3:39 Buddy just assassinates this ending. And listen to Vinnie Colaiuta nail it right along with him, anticipating the timing of Buddy's transcendent riffs with a level of flawless precision that is just inconceivable--they couldn't have practiced it--it just happens organically. No wonder Jeff is brought to his knees, unable to formulate any words other than "Buddy Fucking Guy!" Amen to that, brother
The 25th rock n roll anniversary you can buy it on amazon :). They hosted a massive concert with Metallica, Mick Jagger, U2, Buddy Guy, Stevie Wonder, Elton John & so on.
The opposite TwilightsLastGleam, she's shaking her head at Jeff to say: how the fuck does the Guy do it!!! Buddy Guy is Royalty to good guitarists, there is nothing but admiration and awe on that stage. Jeff put his head in his hands after Buddy Guy left the stage, he was overwhelmed by the fact he'd been able to play with a legend and his personal hero.
You'd think that one would consider his prime to be the late 60's early 70's... but my GAWD... I'd really consider these past few years to be Jeff's best years! I'm sure one could argue against that.. but WOW I've just really enjoyed all of these clips from the recent times... Maybe that's what happens when you get someone as pretty and tallented as Tal on stage with ya! ;-)
Buddy is the man! That Tal girl is so damn nervous at the beginning of this video. She puts her hand in her pocket for no reason and gets all nervous. HAHAHHAHAA
I think Jeff and Hendrix were Buddy's closest Disciples. Clapton loves Buddy Guy but he is clearly a Disciple of BB King with that slow roasting style he has. Hendrix and Jeff are slash and burn scorched earth in the style of Buddy Guy, who's playing is combustible.
Can’t believe Jeff has gone. I’m utterly gutted.
Even Jeff Beck is in awe of Buddy Guy
I love the shots of Buddy with Tal right behind him laying down a solid shuffle line - old & young; black&white - Its all good and its all killer blues. Also Beck & Guy - two greats that dare to play outside the box and make it sound amazing!
Wagmore Barkless she’s great ain’t she?
Wagmore Barkless Tal,,,,, almost as good as Bruce........ saying something.
You know youre good when you can go on stage at madison square garden in an adidas track suit and still be fucking amazing
Man, Blues Legend Buddy Guy, With Jeff Beck, Man it just doesnt get any better than this. If only these two and B.B. King were together for a Blues Jam that would be a sight to behold!!!
Buddy Guy can play The Slow Blues with the best of them and then he can melt your f****** face off like no other. The Master
It don't get any better than this
Perfect, Powerful, Timeless 🥲
I adore Jeff Beck's homage to Buddy Guy in this clip -- what a class act!!
My all time favorite blues voice .
it looked like Jeff and Tall weren't expecting him to launch into the song so quickly .
My man came through in the track suit and killed it!! Just another day in the office.
What a loss. Rest in peace Jeff. Thank you so much for your music, and being one of the bests. Condolences to his family and friends.
i'm not easily upset when people die but hearing about Jeff's demise seriously shocked me .
All the best to those that were closest to him . 🙏
Gotta love Jeff!!!!! Best there ever was!!!
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you Jeff Beck. RIP.
Jeff Beck...what class! totally giving props to Buddy Guy!! and of course Beck is still the man on guitar!!!
I saw Buddy a number of times. He once jumped from the stage in Central Park; outrageous. At the Bottom Line, he wandered over the first two tables..."That's the end of your rope!," I told him. "The end of my rope," he parroted. Classic. Good nature. Great guitar.

One of the best solos......................buddy guy respect...
Buddy Guy--the true King of Blues
Buddy might be the master of the Blues, when BB King is the king of the Blues and Muddy Waters is the Godfather of the Blues and Robert Johnson invented the Blues
double strat blues guitar attack, with a sexy, talented bass player, a kickass drummer, and an awesome keyboard player. what more could anybody want?

As a guitarist I already knew I'd love these two performing side by side, but those raspy vocals are untouchable!

4:13 The drummers mind has been blown. It was great to see the respect that Jeff Beck has for Buddy too. His arms seem to motion Buddy F'in Guy.

That Tal girl is so damn nervous at the beginning of this video. She puts her hand in her pocket for no reason and gets all nervous. HAHAHHAHAA
how can two guitarists of this caliber be on the same stage, i'm surprised people's heads didn't start exploding.
