Great content as always! As a 30 y.o Singaporean, it's really sad to see a lot of my childhood slowly fading away. These videos really makes me reminisce the old times, and remind me of patronizing these places before they are truly gone. Thank you and keep doing these please!!
STB can promote, but tourists go there will just complain it is boring and nothing to do or see. Will spoilt Singapore tourism reputation too. You need to have something in the first place before promoting it got the right effect.
Actually there is a potential to make kusu island a short escape trip for locals. It will require some planning and sending people there to work as food is important if we want to attract people there. Or if we want to preserve the once a year event, there are need to make the trip there more comfortable. More youngsters are not willing to go there because its boring and not comfortable trip. Many inconveniences there too.
Haven’t been to Kusu and the surrounding islands for donkey years. Surprised that they even have a mini hawker centre in Kusu Island. I remember back in 1973, I was in Saint John’s island for a picnic with my class mates. We had to bring our own food there. However there was one beverage kiosk which charged me $2 for a bottle of Coca Cola or Sarsi. In the 1970s, $2 for a coke is certainly daylight robbery!😅🤣
At the rate we’re going, I think even normal hawker centers won’t have any hawkers left. Right now I would say about 99% of the hawkers are elderly. So I think in about 20-30 years time, hawker centers will become a thing of the past. Definitely not looking forward to that
the safest time to go is during the annual pilgrimage. i was just there with my family a couple of weeks back. i think the pilgrimage period is quite consistent every year, it’s always around october.
You are going to have to wait for next year haha. Only happens during 9th lunar month every year where historically people visit the island to pray at the temple.
There are no cops or Safe Distancing Ambassadors on Kusu Island. Even if you don't wear a mask, nothing will happen to you. Unless of course, someone takes a photo of you and snitches on you to the NEA. 😂
Privatise un ion river banks? Hehehe asked me to sit in to assist make guorum hehehe.......they had to change everything since then NUBE and I'll eu.....few years back....
Our mistake was to depopulate these Southern Islands, we should have kept them populated and not resettle only to leave desolate islands with no economic value.

It is such a pity that islands in Singapore aren't promoted by STB, most of these islands are nice places.
Well how else are they gonna legally drive these people out? haha.
Not sure I really want them promoted by STB to be honest, I don’t want them getting overcrowded and getting litter thrown everywhere

To be fair even 2$ for a coke is a bit on the higher side today. If the mama shop can sell lower, it's daylight robbery to me
I thought kusu island was closed, so glad it's still open!
