      You guys have been killing it. I had to have the Ria. It is elegant, understated but has a useful blade. I carry it more than any other knife I own. It is also all kinds of fidgety. I went back and forth between the Centros and Feldspar for a long time. They are similar. Ultimately the gimping on the Centros got me. If you put useful gimping on the Feldspar or did a special edition with it, it would be a different story. That would make it perfect. Oh and if you milled out the liners. I’d pay a little more for those touches.

    That’s a GREAT question to ask. “If I lost this knife would I replace it?” Cuts right to the point. I could get rid of half my collection that way.

      Same. I actually own multiple versions of most knives I love spyderco manix 2(maximet lightweight, Grey g10 m390, black g10/dlc s30v), microtech ludt(brass m390, black 204p), shaman(black s30v, orange rex45), microtech scarab(1 original and 2 scarab 2s) and herectic mudusa demasus auto hand ground Elmax, Manuel battle worn mudusa elmax) and would buy them again if I needed but I do have others I can't find another but would buy a replacement. But I'm with you half my collection would be gone.

    Thanks, Jay, for a great review. Amazon just reduced the price of the CJRB Feldspar large to $27 (July 2022) so I couldn’t resist and ordered one. Your excellent knife reviews help me evaluate knives that appeal to me and my limited pension income.

    I trying to decide between the large Feldspar and the Elementum. I was a little disappointed to hear you say the Feldspar was almost overpriced (9:45) after your pretty glowing review. Keep up the good work

      I second your confusion, mate! Btw, its DEFINITELY a go on the Elementum from me! DEFINITELY! Prolly, my most carried knife together with the Bugout! Let me know which you opt for as I am also scouting the Feldspar (although I really would have liked the smaller one which gets the worse reviews)...

    Thank you Jay....now I have the big feldspar w the blueish grayish g10 and just ordered the small as I prefer carrying smaller knives. It's funny as my pop brought me up on guns and knives and when in my 20s the blade had to be up round 4in but now 30 years later nothing over 3in lol go figure...take care bud.

    I received my large one from Amazon 1 week ago and it was skeletonized. Also it was perfectly centered. But I did take mine apart and relieved some of the tension on the lock bar. The deployment is now perfect whether I open it slowly or flick it and it remained perfectly centered. Yes, I would buy it again and I think that is a brilliant question.

    • @TheKnifeBeater
      @TheKnifeBeater  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Frank. That's good to hear about the skeletonization. Sounds like you tuned yours perfectly. The Feldspar is pretty much my favorite budget knife right now, or at least in my top 3.

      @khakicampbell6640 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for mentioning it Frank. I just got one and it's skeletonized too, with several circles cut out. They got the weight down a little, to 3.95oz. 👍 (mine is perfectly centered too)

    I have the large model in jade g10 and had planned on dying it but the natural color has really grown on me. I like the contoured scales and nested liners. Best thumbstud flicker I own! I’m a lefty also and this liner lock is a breeze to operate left handed. Great video Jay! 👍

    I actually was going to order either this or the Centros and couldn’t decide between them and in the process found the Ria that I love and carry a lot. I like the handle and blade shape of the the Feldspar, but some of the design touches and overall quality of the Centros design are just spot on. The gimping is perfect. It is a much more expensive looking knife than it is. I don’t need both. If they put gimping on the Feldspar, that would seal it, but I’m torn. I also tend to prefer other steels over D2, even the Sandvik or 9CRMOV18. Bother are easier to sharpen, less chippy and prone to rusting than D2. I’ll deal with easier more frequent sharpening. But I’ll make an exception for these designs. Just can’t figure out which one. Either way I like Artisan.

    I love my jade handled Feldspar. I feel it's a very underrated knife. Very comfortable to hold, amazing action and a great slicer. The only improvement I would like to see is a filler tab for where the pocket clip goes. I just ordered the small one the other day, also with the jade scales. If Artisan comes out with a premium steel version, I would definitely buy it.

    • @TheKnifeBeater
      @TheKnifeBeater  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the jade one is really nice looking. To be honest, I want to buy them in every color. I love your idea about the tab cover! I'm gonna take one from an Artisan knife and see if it fits. I agree with you about the blade steel. I would be in heaven if they released a version in S35VN or M390. Thanks for watching Nithya.

    Thanks Jay.....been waiting for the Feldspar review. I like both but the 'jumbo' is easier to use for me and it drops shut......both are great slicers however. I would replace the larger one if I lost it, the smaller I would congratulate whoever found it because they found a great knife. I usually prefer smaller knives but the jumbo works better for me this time......just like the OKC Rat I and Rat II.

    • @TheKnifeBeater

    Nice video I like those both very clean knives. I am trying to wait on the Civivi Elementum to drop as I really want one of those and right now you can’t find them anywhere unless a private sale which I have no idea where to do that. But these are both very nice I like them very clean lines.

    • @TheKnifeBeater
      @TheKnifeBeater  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's kinda nuts how difficult it is to get an Elementum right now, I'm sure it's pretty frustrating. It's a good knife and I like it just fine, but it's way more popular than I realized. Thanks for watching Anthony.

  • @cbwelch4
    @cbwelch4 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had a hard time deciding between the Feldspar and the Centros. I executed on the Centros because Mallory nailed a couple of things. The gimping is perfect. I’d probably have gone the other way had they put similar gimping on the Feldspar. I like the shape of the handle on the Feldspar. I’m split on the blade shape. I like the profile better on the Feldspar but I like the reinforced area near the top of the blade on the Centros which you’d need with that long tip. I like both, but I like the touches on the Centros. For $35 you can’t really touch it.

    Are Artisan, CJRB and Ganzo sibling companies like Sanrenmu, Real Steel and Ruike?
    CJRBs have a lot of the same pocket clips, hardware, nested liners, thumb studs and G10 colors as Ganzo.

    • @TheKnifeBeater

    Hi Jay, did you look at the new Real Steel Rokot?! Make your own opinion, because some people think i am with Real Steel or let's say I work for them 😂. But I understand why they think that. I recommend Real Steel Knives to much people because they are just really good tools for the price. Not perfect, but pretty well made.

    • @TheKnifeBeater
      @TheKnifeBeater  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen the Rokot, really nice design. It actually reminds me of the Stedemon BP-02, which I love. I like Real Steel, but my collection doesn't reflect that because I only have a few, like the Griffin. I think they make one of the best neck knives ever, the 127II. Thanks for watching.
