I love the old school live poker vibe, just hits different compared to WSOP main events today.
Yeah people actually spoke too. I swear all these high roller tourneys are like watching paint dry. That’s why Daniel Negreanu and Hellmuth are so entertaining even nowadays.
Yeah now it is so robotic and mechanical. All the players today are so fragile and delicate makes me sick.

Back then, it was about feelings and people. Today it's all about numbers, GTO and interchangeable nerds. Except from a small bunch of entertaining players like Ren Lin. Long live extroversion! Long live the personal expression of life!
I've been really enjoying watching these every day. Please keep em coming.
"you've got small cojones" said to the eventual winner of the tournament lol. Brilliant
Hansen TORCHED his stack off with that 8-5.
I miss these days. So many celebrations so many characters and let’s not forget Lavitra.
ahhh the golden years of poker... nothing will ever beat the poker boom that went on in the 2000's
Love being able to watch these again. The nostalgia is thick!
Gus walked so Tom dwan could run!
It's so odd that Norm didn't even acknowledge the flush draw on the first hand. And in the 2nd hand, the guy doesn't re-raise with QQ and the other guy goes from 2k to calling the 25k all-in with K 10. Poker was so much different back then.
I forgot how much of a cheeserod that Andderson kid was....
YAHHHHHHH! YAAWWHHHHHHH!
Does anyone know what Gus is up to now a days?
He's working as an accountant. A regular 9 to 5 existence. In Copenhagen.
The problem wasn't his style live. He was a Wizard. It was his play online and he just had too much gamble in him.
I also believe he got targeted, scoped, etc. like Isildur. I don't trust online for shyte..
@@jasonbourneistreadstone Yes, I agree. Dont trust online as well but thank you for an update on his life. Interesting to hear.
@@TheNomad8899 You're welcome! Gus absolutely crushed the WPT so many times. Loved seeing him play. I have his book.
“The Dangerous Dane” is one of the people that got me to love poker.
That MacReady guy might be the worst poker player I've ever seen.
Fun fact: I busted Erin Ness out of the Main in 2005. Not so fun fact: I still busted like 6 hours into the tournament.
Back when each hand didn't take 10 minutes.
HUGE call from Julian Garnder there around 35:45 with the 10s. GREAT call, just destroyed Alaei
Allowing people access to these will only help grow the game/channel
Anybody else cringe when they hear matusow speak?
Players went from fun characters to Wizard Robots and their more or less successful friends
Please do the 2005 main event!!
2006 as well.
Watched poker from the first day it was broadcast. Hansen changed it all. It’s impossible to watch now with all the frat boy cheering and cosplay nonsense. I liked it when it was new and boring.
such bad poker. Seidel limping and then calling it off preflop with K8 offsuit was cringey.
He didn't limp..gus limp with 44. He raise with k8 on the button but I guess he was pot committed when the guy with AK went all in.
@@idontknow1919 meh
@@idontknow1919dont care if u were pot commited u never shove with K8o when a guy shoved having two players after him. He almost always has AK or a high pair rarely AQ which thats like the only thing you r kina ok against
@@idontknow1919 all that said probably different times people porbably used to shove with like QTo lol
It was very cool to see a lot of notable poker names make deep runs here. You'll rarely see 1 interesting pro make a deep run these days.
I wish they would would raise the main event buy in. Get rid of all the donkey's, lol.
What was Seidel thinking?
Lol "i wish i didnt live long enough to see this." (In response to Matusow's celebration after delivering a bad beat)
It’s crazy it was harder to cash these tournaments back then with the payout structure so the best players were jus easily thriving lol
G is for Gus
I don't like shoving all in with just a draw, unless you're short stacked.
17:55 wtf was that call from erik seidel? he was almost in the money and calls an all in pre with K8??
The guy jams 130k into 70k on the turn for value with the second best hand wow
McCready is the worst player ever!! Overvalued every hand.
phil hellmuth at 44:05 thiking, "yeah I would have folded"
Seidel had nothing in pot and went off with K8, Pro
Those were the days
23:30 Walter White never recovered from that elimination :D
Going all in in the dark on the bubble is a balller move.
I had pocket 66s, who cares you folded
28:06 “bad back” is the best thing about this whole video
Matusow on meth was pretty fun to watch
This was a good summer. IYKYK
Bring poker after dark back!
Erin Ness was cute as a button
I been wondering off and on who that dude was back then, when he won a big flip "jaaaaa jaaaaaa!".😂 found him
Norm is so funny.
19:20 for THE MONEY BUBBLE
Hughes age is 38 with hair like that? 😅
The tells are so obvious 😂
Any examples?
are there actually any bad beats shown in this....
I used to watch these back in the day. I used the internet on my Wii to watch each episode as soon as they were available. Thank you for the nostalgia!
They should have a WSOP tournament of champions and have all the previous winners duke it out.
Seildel proved you can make a blatant mistake being one of the best.
love watching these old tournies so much fun
21:25 BREAKING NEWS
Can y’all make the WSOP me comeback this year? Starting with my French Canadian fellow, Jonathan Duhamel!
There's a Canadian minority in France?
Just kidding, it just sounds like it to me because in my mother toung "Canadian French" is the logical translation of someone of French heritage or immigrant living in Canada with a Canadian citizenship.
