    why tf would u raise with AQ with the a hearts on turn. flat, then flat pretty much every river. you keep in all his combo blufffs and lose min to all 2 pair combos etc. Like gus has to have KQ or QJ to even consider calling (of the hands you beat)

      He knew with Daniels call on turn that there was a possible payday on its way, paired board and rainbow, still calls 24k. Daniel knew paired boards can cost big, should have jammed on flop, no reason for Daniel to not jam turn either

      Daniel's state of mind is a big factor to consider.
      He just lost a 500k plus pot being 1 outted coolered by that very same person.
      As you can see here 13:48 his body language clearly show he is both scared, frustated and even disgusted at the same time.
      He might not be thinking gus have set of 8 as much as flopping a straight, which in this flop is very possible.

    I remember that quads hand from when it happened. Seemed like a fold at the time, and seems even more looking back. Nowadays you might have to call because the good players are all balanced in this spot, but back the, it’s hard to see Gus running a bluff. That wasn’t his style. His style was to play loosely goosey pre-flop through the turn, but when the big bets went in, he either had the goods, or a strong draw.

    • @j0eYzZ
      @j0eYzZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      U must not have seen a lot of hands played by gus because he for sure was that maniac type of player and would run bluffs all the time. You might not have seen it or he just might not have even showed it on this show specifically but that was for sure his reputation and they all knew that.

  • @xxyanlixx
    @xxyanlixx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Many hands I would have played slower than how Hansen did. For example, when he had 36 and Hoivold had AQ i would have just called his raise and check-call the river card. Such a small 2 pair is not worthy to re-jam coz another player might have Qx 2 pair or even a set.
    Ultimatley, things turned all the way south on him with his QQ. Again, I would have just called Daniel's raise on the flop for pot control and checked the turn card. If Daniel bets a lot on the river i can still make a judgement fold to minimize your loss.
    But this is hindsight knowledge, not trying to sound like a poker expert. Hansen probably thought Daniel was chasing and wanted to push him off. However the strength Daniel showed didn't seem like it..

    • @j0eYzZ
      @j0eYzZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well this is pretty old and the game has changed a lot since then. Also these games aren’t played like your typical cash games, the dynamic and the decisions they make are a lot different than someone else might make in a different game. And just like dnegs TH-cam series on new school vs old school he talks about this hand specifically and pretty much says exactly what you said would be the style of play now against back when this game was played.
