- The Mighty B!, while not lasting long, gives us an interesting look into a show that Nickelodeon believed in, yet still saw the same fate of many other shows before and after it. Let's look into why I, and possibly you, may barely remember The Mighty B!

Both shows deserved so much better, they were the last good cartoons Nickelodeon produced.

Was re-watching some clips of Catscratch and I agree. At the time, I watched it and liked it but not a lot. The promos made it seem like it was an amazing show one couldn't miss, but it felt like it lacked something sometimes. Now, I kind of like it more than I disliked it back then.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was easily one of my favorite shows as a kid. I could never forget this.
And yet feminist swear that women didn't have representation in the media before they came along. As if nothing existed before super progressive culture. As a little boy, I loooved this show; and I was never over obsessed with the role of the sexes, or show of represention like many groups are today. This cartoon was quality; it was fun. Kids now will just be brainwashed with idealogy wars,instesf of just being able to enjoy creativity on a digital screen. I don't know if you remember the show: " My teenage life as a robot, or Powerpuff girls!?" I enjoyed those shows as well.

I really enjoyed this show as a kid bc it was an animated show with a girl as the main character and she wasn’t drawn as attractive or fashionable as her peers but she didn’t think she stuck out. It was one of the most understandable feelings being 6 or 7

Her character design is part of why I didn't watch it. She's got the same general look as Eliza Thornberry, Pepper Ann (Pepperanne?), Gretchen from Recess... Redhead girl with glasses, is a bit of an overused way to say "she's not attractive because she has brains!"

When I was little I loved this show so much, Bessy's lisp made me feel like a normal kid because I have some speech problems. I was also a girlscout for 6 years so her character and the show were just such an amazing gem to have growing up.

I remember watching this every day, it was such a good show. I vividly remember the episode where they went into this giant human body diagram and they thought they shrunk down.

Same here! I watched a few minutes of an episode (the one where she tries to ride the roller coaster) and ended up turning the TV off after 5 minutes because of how obnoxious I found the characters. But I definitely respect the effort put into the show! It’s not my cup of tea, but if other people found it amazing then that’s alright.

I loved Bessie so much growing up as a kid. I mimicked a lot of her movements and expressions and I thought she was the coolest person! I EVEN HAD A FINGER FRIEND BECAUSE OF THIS SHOW! I watch this show now and I can’t really get into it now and I kind of feel like it’s a bit annoying at times. But when I was a hyperactive autistic 6 year old, this show was my absolute jam! I wanted to be Bessie so bad when I was a kid, it was insane!
Exactly. I saw a TH-cam video posted 2 days before the mighty b aired. It involved a girl dancing hyped up for the new series. Mimicking the scene where Bessie wants to ride the roller coaster.

I loved repeating after her in school and also drew funny faces on my fingers and pretend like they're their own personalities as a kid. I feel u just perfectly, this show was perfect for kids like us

Despite being a boy (still am, of course lol) when this show came out, I remember really enjoying Bessie's character. I liked that she wasn't the "pretty" or popular girl, but didn't let that keep her spirits down. She was just happy being her, and that was cool. The fact that Ben was obese gave me more body positivity too, I think. Seeing them get along was nice as well. I always get annoyed when shows make it seem like all siblings can do is fight. It's more realistic to have *occasional* fights, but at the end of the day, they should love each other more than hate, and Mighty B did a good job there as well.
Anyways, I often watched this show if nothing else good was on, and pretty much always at least found mild entertainment out of it, even if some of the gross out didn't please me. I think it's pretty neat, being one of the few girl focused shows that I feel fine with watching much like the Powerpuff Girls.

i loved this show as a kid! bessie always gave some strong autistic energy and even though i didn't know i was autistic as a kid, it was nice to see a girl on tv like that for me to relate to, as opposed to the male autistic (coded) characters that had been on tv. honestly i always held her close to my heart as autistic-coded female rep that didn't play into stereotypes. i'm sure bessie wasn't meant to be autistic and was rather intended to be awkward and childish, but she gave me a lot of comfort as a kid. like hey! that's me right there!
as a Autistic..... i didnt notice it in Bessie and now I do. to be fair, I was five and not diagnosed until the show ended. But if I was, my Radar would've went off. I remember being GLUED to the tv when this was on

This was my favorite show during its run! I was 10 year old girl with glasses and the same kind of lisp as Bessie. I had a 6 year old annoying brother. I pretended I was a superhero and made comics about it. I tried Girl Scouts around that time. I was an outcast and trying to fit in but also trying to be my own person and was very goal driven. I considered Bessie to be me. I’m so glad to know others remember it! Most people I talk to have no recollection

Woah I remember this show. Bessie was a great character she enthusiastic and motivated it was joy to see her do good. Also Gwen’s family had Asian representation that was quite unique and unseen for the time,
I remember this and Making Fiends. Tragically I don’t think we'll ever seen Making Fiends again given how nick legally owns it, and I don’t think corporate would want to make a horror themed show aimed at kids, but that's just my speculation
Hey I was just thinking about Making Fiends! While I know it won't get a reboot I do hope someone makes a video on it so it can get some deserved attention, it was treated bad by Nick and remains underrated. The style and aesthetic is so unique, like most "horror" cartoons

personally as a kid I absolutely LOVED this show, but it had the same problem I had with invader zim, it NEVER aired when I was able to watch TV. I was always either at school or sleeping in since it aired so early in the morning. I wish I couldve watched more as a kid.
As someone born in 2000, 2004-2009 had some of my favorite cartoons from that time period, Mighty B, Catscratch, The X's, AtLA, The Replacements, Kids Next Door, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Kim Possible, Lilo and Stich, Kuzco Academy and the start of Chowder, Adventure Time and Total Drama Island. Plus there were recent 90's nostalgia so we got frequent reruns of old Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, Rugrats and Rocko

This show was stuck in my head because of that episode, "Body Rockers", where Bessie and Penny get trapped inside a gigantic robotic human body and escaped from its ass in a flood of chili landing on their class, and that game where she rides a dolphin.

What I loved about these shows was the art style. The "UPA revival" (as Craig McCracken called it) artstyle is just so interesting to watch. It's a dead art style I really wish would make a come back

The two episodes I remember about Mighty B is that there was a weird episode where she wanted to get chicken pox from everyone else, and there was one where she was inside of the human body?

I always remembered this show! For a while, I thought my memory of it was a fever dream because I've never heard anyone talk about it and I couldn't find it on any streaming services. My mom and I were the only ones who remembered it. I'm so glad to see someone finally mention it!

This show traumatized me as a kid and would appear back into my thoughts at random occasions. I did like it, but it creeped me out most of the time. Really surprised to see it brought up, brings back good memories.
Yeah the camping episode where the sun was setting gave me nightmares
Unrelated to the show but related to ur comment -- when I was little I was afraid of human internal organs/anatomy and anything related to it. Invader Zim freaked me the FUCK out with the whole "Zim was in Dib's stomach", to the point where I stayed away from the whole show for a LONG time.
Yeah. That was scary too but seeing the sun setting in the middle of the woods made me feel uncomfortable. I actually had a nightmare that I was In that same area the camera was when the sun was setting.
When I was a kid I absolutely adored this show! It had me on the edge of my seat with a character who was like me (had a speech impediment and was somewhat autistic coded in my young eyes). It also had me terrified to say "Kajolica"
Only thing I remember about this show is I used to get so excited when the intro song came on 😂 that song will forever be missed , I literally would sing along then turn the channel when the song ended lol

I absolutely loved this show. The atmosphere, the music, the characters, the fact that it took place in San Francisco and that was such a big part of the show. I’ll never forget it.
Go watch “o say can bess see” she legit starts tripping out by looking at a painting and after an entire montage of hallucinations, she sees a parallel universe version of her staring back at her from the painting im like wtf 😂😂😂
I remember loving this show as a kid, now only was the script genuinely well-written and funny but the backgrounds were always so gorgeous and fitting.
It's really funny. Nickelodeon All Star Brawl coming out made me want to revisit Nick shows I watched as a kid. Recently I found it on Paramount+ and the exact moment the first episode began, I remembered so much of the episode from when I was a kid. Especially the rollercoaster episode. I kept watching and was hooked. It was so well animated and really funny, the character designs are great, and it fits snuggly under the "90s nick" style lineup. I'm currently in the middle of season 1 and really enjoying what it has to offer!

The show was actually a big part of my childhood while it was airing. me and my mom had several inside jokes based around one off jokes, and I always had a little smiley face on my finger. Glad someone's talking about it. :^]
I loved this show as a kid! I was the same age as Bessie when the show was airing. While the show was airing, I had moved elementary schools and I was often bullied by the other girls. I related to Bessie because I did my best to ignore what they would say and instead focus on myself. Another thing I always did was draw a smiley face on my index finger. Every single day 😂
The one thing I absolutely remember about this show is that the theme song freaking SLAPPED
It's Pony isn't actually on Nicktoons yet, but it has been on a stupidly long hiatus. Would really love to see you cover that show next.
I myself wasn't too fond of the show at first, but overtime I've grown to enjoy it for its zany and creative animation.

I was actually thinking about this show two days ago!!!! My mom used to think it was really funny; usually she would dislike something about every show I watched, but this show always made her grinning ear to ear. When I associate memories to her, this show has always stuck out as pure nostalgia.
This felt like a fever dream. TH-cam recommending this to me was a big mood.
I don't think I'd agree that most of the episodes are based around earning badges, at least from what I remember, I might need to do a rewatch but from I remember only a handful of episodes were actually about earning badges but for the most part it usually Bessie getting into wacky hijnx that didn't have anything to do with being a scout.
Yes, there was that one episode about her middle name and another about taffy just to name a few. Not every episode was centered around badges.
You're right. The show's focus was SUPPOSED to be about the badges... BUT they deviated from that FAST!

My mom would terrorize me when I was 8 by singing “running with the rainbow unicorns” which came from this show so it was never forgotten for me at least lmao

U can tell how many of these creators had love for the classic cartoons and 50s style as someone whos very into old cartoons cool to see those styles used in many of these i watched in mid 2000s that i now realize what they were doing it.
This style needs to make a comeback.
When I was about 11, I had to get braces. My orthodontist had a very cool set up where all of the chairs were in a large open room, and each chair had a small TV mounted in front of it. The chairs had headphones that connected to the TV that kids could use while their teeth were being worked on. I VIVIDLY remember watching the mighty B and SpongeBob every time I had my braces worked on, which was a real treat for me, as we couldn't afford cable at the time. It actually made the pain of braces worth it.

The show was great airing for 3 seasons,it wasn’t sent to die on nick toons,and even got a snoop dogg cameo.It was a great show being one of Nickelodeon’s most watched shows at its time but because of internet critics reviewing the show on bad episodes and early episodes it was token down.It was a pop in Nickelodeon’s demographic and was even meant to air a 4th season but due to “over reliance on gross out” (the reasons they had gross out in the first place is because both the creators mothers were nurses so they would tell story’s about patients they had…and the reason it looks similar to bobs burgers is because jay Howell,the creator of Sanjay and Craig was a character designer on bobs burgers)

I've never really been a fan of the whole "Ren and Stimpy" aesthetic -for multiple reasons- but the only thing that _still_ sticks out to me from this show is being absolutely traumatized as a kid by the weird artistic decision to show switching bodies through body horror lol

@@censored817 Yeah. But that doesn't mean the show is bad just because the creator is bad (which it's understandable because he's a disgusting creep). That's why "separate art from the artist" is pretty common.
Ren and Stimpy is pretty much of ahead of its time. Sure, gross-out humor can be tasteless but the zany animation is fluid for the 90s standards along with Animaniacs.
I remember being really into this show because I was a scout myself at the time. Bessy still pops into my mind at times and I like to think she did what I was never able to: go all the way.
Man I love the justice this channel does for all the forgotten shows I used to watch as a kid. Mighty B, Catscratch, Tuff Puppy, The Secret Show, etc. It's a time capsule in the purest sense

I watched it pretty often as a kid, and now it's one of my favorite stoner shows. There's at least one moment in every episode that makes me think "WTF" and it's prime entertainment.

I really love this show's artstyle. Its a picture perfect representation of a mid 2000s cartoon.
This video hurts my soul. Mighty B! was easily the best Nicktoon of it's era. Looking at mediocre contemporaries like, Planet Sheen Fanboy and Chum Chum, TUFF Puppy, and back and the barnyard I think it's pretty clear that there was a level of creativity and energy in this show that was unmatched by the others. I was at an age where I wasn't really watching cartoons like this when I found this show on Nicktoons (I'm not sure if the run was over and I was watching re-runs or if I caught the tail end of it) but when I found this show I would try to catch it every day I could. Amy's performance was lively and joyful, the characters were fun and memorable, and the animation was fun, quirky and expressive. There was clearly a lot of love put into this show that just wasn't present in a lot of the other crap the channel was shoveling out at the time.
This video hurts my soul because this was the ONLY Nicktoon of it's generation worth remember and the only one I ever think about anymore. I'm sorry that you and most of the general public didn't see this show as the beacon of light that it was.
Luckily that’s why we all have individual opinions on things, I’m glad you enjoy the show so much, even though I was in no way harsh to the show, just giving my thoughts from my experiences, I’m sorry it hurt your soul.

I enjoyed watching The Mighty B! when I was a little boy after it came out on Saturday, April 26th, 2008 at 10:30 AM
This was like a sister show to SpongeBob and Ren & Stimpy tbh, especially thanks to the use of APM Music like those shows.
Also Amy Poehler.
I never watched this show with my kids. Just seeing it now it def has that Ren and Stimpy animation look to it.

I couldn’t resist singing along to the theme song whenever it came on even though I didn’t pay much attention to the show. Also “running with rainbow unicorns“ is the self confidence we needed but didn’t know we deserved
I had some fond memories of this show, and even have one of the badges to prove It! This was one of Amy Poehler's very 1st cartoon show she ever made before going full adult animation with Duncanville.

The Eye of the honeybee episode still has one of the best ping pong battles of all time. I remember the day i saw it for the first time with my homie. Shit was hype AF
The one thing I remember from the show is that the brother hated his food being mixed together, his sister disrespecting his way of eating, him having a meltdown because of it and her realizing she has hurt him and apologizing. I remember it so well because I prefered my food this way back than and my family had made fun of it on multiple ocasions. Mixed food had been pretty overwhelming so I tryed to avoid it and it was calming to have a repetition of texture and taste instead of one unpedctable mess.
What about Edger and Ellen?!? I remember that show it was like a Tim Burton movie short and the books it was based on had an awesome plot of them being related to the founder of their home town!! I’m serious look it up. When I found that out I was mad that premise sounds awesome why didn’t we get that?!?
My brother really liked it.
I’m still a remaining fan of this show, revisiting the series on a regular basis.. I have to say though, the show produced with all of its talented creators, made a show I think too sophisticated for its audience and too naive for adults 😅

@@somethinorother9207 unfortunately I bought the series on iTunes for $6 a season. I thought it was worth the investment because it’s so much fun and one day I’ll introduce it to my kids
I used to watch this as a kid, it was part of the many other cartoons I watched like samurai jack, powerpuff girls, spongebob, scooby doo, etc. Awesome video dude!
The one joke from this show I still remember, after all these years, was when they went to a museum and watched a black and white video about the far off future of 1995
How could I not remember it, they wouldn't stop marathoning that show when it was on Nick. It was an okay show, but not good enough for me to wanna watch all day.

Dude, Chalk Zone was one of my favorites growing up... Rudy's got the chalk! I remember Tuff Puppy and Back to the Barnyard, too! There are so many great shows from Cartoon Network, and Nicolodeon that need a comeback!

I remember. I liked that show. It lowkey reminded me of Disney's Replacements (another underrated gem).
I hate whenever the x's is brought up people just write it off as nothing but the incredibles rip off. The x family act nothing like the incredibles family. The x's had potential. It sucks nickelodeon couldn't see that. I think the show would've been different if it continued past the first season. The show to me is just okay. There's no telling how maybe a season 2, season 3, and season 4 would've went. Maybe the show would've became huge if later down the line it went more story-driven and serious.
Very underrated in my opinion. I'd also love to see The X's have a playable character in Nick All Star Brawl.
@@PeterGriffin11 yes truman & tuesday would be great for the game. I had posted that they should include them on reddit and most people were saying no because the show is too obscure. Who cares if it's not a relevant show. It's an action based cartoon. They pretty much are a good fit and these are the same people that want jimmy neutron's goofy dumb dad in the game.
You would think the X's would have been more popular since spies were very popular with kids back then with Codename: Kids Next Door, Totally Spies, and Spy Kids. You also had the family appeal like the Incredibles. Big missed opportunity.

Dude, my parents and I would always reference the “mixing foods” episode, when she gets people to dress up as foods and they hug the brother.
I vividly remember the still the cut to when she says, “why don’t you mix your food” and it cuts to a food tray with barbed wire between the sections LOL

I FORGOT THAT THAT CAME FROM THIS SHOW!!! I forgot that it was this show, I attribute that to my current need to not mix my foods nowadays lol.
One of the most clear memories I have of this show was being so annoyed that it was the only thing on TV sometimes, since I found it uninteresting. Like you said, it had the humor and the animation, but the episode plots just didn't capture me. But I do remember enjoying an episode every once in a while.

The Mighty B! was one of my favorite Nicktoon shows. I was sad to see that it ended after Season 2, but then again, I never seen it to be like one of those big hit shows like Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents
