  • In this video, I dive into why career planning at an early stage is crucial for students, especially those pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. We explore the significant risks of delaying this decision, including missed opportunities, lack of direction, and potential career pitfalls that can leave you stuck in a job that doesn’t align with your passions or talents.
To help you make an informed choice, I break down six major career streams in CS/IT: Software Engineering, Data Sciences, System Security, Network Administration, Database Administration and Development, and Business Intelligence. Each of these paths offers unique opportunities, and I provide insights into the skills required, potential career trajectories, and how to identify which stream aligns best with your interests and strengths.
This video is designed to motivate and guide you to take proactive steps in planning your career early, setting you on a path to success and fulfillment in the rapidly evolving tech industry.

Thank you so much, dear Zain, for appreciating the content. I've been trying to encourage my juniors to take proactive steps to secure their future, but I often find that many don't listen or take it seriously. Despite this, I continue to share insights and raise awareness because I believe there are still some who do care, even if they are few. Your feedback reassures me that my efforts are reaching those who value them. Remain blessed, dear, and stay connected.

Dear Asif, if you are well-prepared and have acquired the required skillset during your degree, bundled with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, I can assure you will surely secure your placement, insh'Allah. I've been interviewing for many years, those who claim for not getting through even in the initial interview aren't well-prepared and lack multiple skills, my dear.

After MIT why you have done MBA???
Is MBA equivalent to MS ???
I am Also doing IT from VU it will be better fro me to do MBA after my graduation?

      My humble responses respectively:
      1. For an IT professional working in different roles over the past years including IT Ops. IT Service Management, IT Project Management, Client Services, Software Development, etc. when transitioning to leadership, it requires enhancing the portfolio to enable yourself to contribute strategically to the organization
      2. In VU, the MBA is eq. to the MS degree - one can pursue one's doctorate afterward
      3. I don't recommend fresh graduates to go for an MBA, since they don't have even ABC of leadership, what role do they perform in the org? what org, expect from them? and there are so many other concepts involved that one needs to understand first and we can only acquire them over some time. Always, go for the management/leadership education when you've at least 3-5 years of professional experience, and have at least 1-2 years of supervisory role. This is the point where one can not only better understand the need for such education, but will also understand the core/key concepts and then these are more meaningful, otherwise, it is merely text, you memorize, and pass the degree.

can bbit student make carrer in cyber security
    or natwork administer

For cyber security, one must be familiar with and proficient in networking, data communication, data security, encryption standards, internet devices, security protocols, information systems standards/ security/auditing mechanisms, etc. You also need to seek some renowned industry-standard certifications, e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC).
Network Administration is all about configuring, troubleshooting, and managing your company's network equipment/devices that also require industry-standard certification like Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper, CompTIA, Huawei, etc. Additionally, you also need to have hands-on in Virtualization and Cloud Computing.
Both of these tracks require extensive data communications, underlying architectures, policies, standards, and related things.
Now, it is your interest that you need to explore and then adopt one of these if you really want to opt for one of the two.
Business Intelligence can be another consideration for BBIT students that involves both business and IT tools to leverage business to make data-driven decisions in day-to-day business operations.
Also, consider another track which is Business/System Analysis, that requires business acumen with software development understanding. This is the role that I'm having over the past 7-8 years.
I hope I could make things a little clear to you :) Good luck and may you choose something good for yourself, stick with it, and live with it throughout your academic journey so that when you complete your degree, you have the desired skill set and portfolio to land your dream job. Feel freel to reach out to me if you need additional infromation.
