    Nice watch - love the proportions. The only thing I would change on it, and other Yemas for that matter, is they should use "Automatique" on the dial. Embrace their French heritage and give us more of it. Hats off to Yema for leaving the date off the dial.

    • @vaguepast
      @vaguepast 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's also odd that they print the depth rating in feet instead of metres. I thought perhaps this was in keeping with the aviation theme, but they do it on their divers too.

    • @jorgecosta95
      @jorgecosta95 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vaguepast on a pilot's it makes absolute sense, in divers I do not know.
      With that being said, it's something quirky and I kinda like it... even tho I am pro-metric in every other thing.

    I actually purchased the Yema French Air Force Superman watch earlier in August after seeing multiple ads for it while I was on a training assignment for the Army. Once I recieved it I fell in love! What an amazing piece it is, perfectly weighted and it blends seamlessly into any outfit or uniform I'm wearing. While searching for details about the watch I actually stumbled upon your channel, and have been subscribed ever since!

    My French grandfather wore a Yema. As a reminder of this man that I admired for his physical prowess as a rock climber and hiker, as a reminder of my French heritage (for I've been living in the USA for the past 6 years), and as a reminder of home (Yema comes from the same region that I grew up in and where I still travel to yearly), I have purcharsed a Yema for myself about a month ago. I am now a proud wearer of the Superman II Maxidial, full of heritage and personal meaning.

    As youtube video goes, you don't get any better production value than this. It's so pleasing to my ears and eyes, I watched the whole 19 minutes even when I'm not interested in the watch.

    TGV,
    I have the utmost respect for the research and time you put in the crafting of these videos. It’s almost like you’re the one that made each individual watch that you speak about. It’s getting me more and more fascinated in the study of horology beyond watches. Please do not stop making these! (even if I can’t afford these watches, it’s still fascinating to learn about the history and what goes into the making of them.)

  • @anickname6960
    @anickname6960 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Absolutely beautiful piece. Love these details on the dial and how good the printing looks, even when magnified. This looks like a watch I would pay double of what they are asking for.
    And the video was a treat of it's own again. The intros, the reviews, the watches, the whole approach to this great hobby and always the explanation of the historical context. No other watch channel on YT has the class of this one.
    Thank you for the high quality content, TGV, best wishes from Germany

I have spent the last week scratching my head about adding a Military Pilot watch to my collection, looking at classics from Smiths, CWC, Laco Fliegers and Christopher Ward's Sandhurst and Cranwell and then BOOM, you do a fab video on this amazing looking time piece from Yema and I find myself ditching the competition and pre-ordering it before you can say Fly!

    I must say the following: without a doubt TGV has the best reviews bar none. He goes deep into the history and other details of the watch being reviewed all with a wonderful voice and a touch of class. TGV you should write a book on watches and do the Audible version as well. Who knows I can totally see TGV narrating books as well.

    YEMA, a GREAT watch which I had one back in the 80s and gave it to one of my younger cousins in Italy many summers ago and yes, he still has it and has passed it on to his son, I have now purchased another YEMA the Landgraf, I know it's a quartz movement but yet its striking square shape is what caught my eye, a square-shaped watch is not something you see every day, and I got it at such a ridiculous price that I just had to pull the proverbial trigger LOL.

    This watch provides a level of design elegance not often seen in the tool watch space, especially at this price point. I’m wearing the Damasko DA36. I love the clean look, the legibility, and the case design. The Yema, while not having the same technical innovations as the Damasko (crown system, anti-shock/ mag cage), offers a superior design aesthetic! It’s also close to half the price! Bravo!

    A very handsome watch with a more than reasonable price tag considering it has an in-house movement. It seems the M2 version even has the newer in-house movement and is sold for the same price. I hardly knew about Yema before today. Thanks for the review and the intro.

    Lol. I spent months sending messages to you about Yema Superman refs last year. Glad to see you’ve finally embraced them. I thought the size and style of the Superman would be perfect for you.

    Quite interesting. Design seems very straightforward yet details like contrasting polished and brushed surfaces elevate it beyond the prosaic. Again your intro extremely entertaining. Like the price on this one. Agree it's a little tall.

    Nice review. I usually find pilot style watches super boring, but this is maybe the first that has enough stylish design touches and textures to make it interesting and attractive. Yema's releases have been catching my eye, I haven't found one that I can justify adding to my collection just yet, but with their unique designs, nice quality and very reasonable prices I think it's only a matter of time!

    Dear TGV i have to say, watching your channel turns into a pricey hobby! You have a talent of finding watches that i really like! While you haven't - at least to my knowledge - already discovered the Mecchaniche Veneziane microbrand, this Yema is very likely to become a new part of my collection.
    After several other watches you discussed i would really be happy to see more Rolex, Patek or Hublot films on your channel as these brands do not touch my heart at all, saveing me a lot of money! 😂
    Nice watch though!

    @TGV- Thank you so much for all of your sharing knowledge about watches, always honest and fairness, I do owned a few of the watches that you reviewed, hence I know you spoke the true. Kudos !!
    Now back to Yema Flygraf, the reason that it's looks tall because the bezel edge is very flat and straight up, gives it sharp & tall profile.
    In my collection included a Superman Heritage Blue 39 and the bezel side has the serrations that breaks up the tall profile, otherwise it would be tall as well with the high dome sapphire crystal. Just to share my own opinion of this beautiful Flygraf.
    Thank again for all your videos, I really enjoyed it !!
