    Love my HRV. Traded in a Mini Cooper S for it, so felt like it was huge by comparison, and I am 5’11” and weigh 240 lbs.

    I am completely satisfied with my 2018 HRV LX, AWD. I Average 31 mpg mixed driving, plenty of inside room, and plenty of power for me.

      @@sofloflow It may not have enough power for some people, but for the kind of driving i do, it´s fine for me. One thing i really like is how great it does on snow. No more worries about getting out in the winter, no matter how much snow there is. Better than 4 wd trucks i´ve had in the past.

    • @sofloflow
      @sofloflow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim Rees Im guessing none of those 4WD trucks had a lo range? Bc my old Xterra spanks my HR-V in any poor weather or offroad situation. With that being said, the HR-V does perform admirably for what it is.

    With a rear facing child seat, would you say the HRV offers a bit more legroom than the Fit? Im deciding between the HRV and Fit, and would just pick the HRV because i assume it has more room inside.

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kelly, the specs for the HR-V and the Fit are pretty much the same for front and rear leg room, they were even made at the same facility. The HR-V does have a little more head room though which can be nice when getting the kids in and out. I'd always suggest taking a kid seat along with you and strapping one in to try it!

    I am considering this car, along side the Golf Sportwagen and Subaru Impreza. Any thoughts on the comparison? Any chance you will do reviews of those other cars? Thanks!

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rodrigo Jorge Gutierrez I think the magic seats and interior space on this car make it stand out. The VW is going to feel more basic, if you're comparing the same price point. And I have friends who own the Impreza and regret it, saying it's too tight. I don't have either of those vehicles on my test schedule for at least the next two months, though.

    • @rodrigogutierrez9102
      @rodrigogutierrez9102 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Family Wheels Darn. I was looking forward to your reviews on those cars. The 2017 Impreza was just announced with slightly larger dimensions. I wonder if that will help with the tightness. I am not sure I need the magic seats since there will always be 2 kids in the back row. I will drive the Honda and vw to see the difference. Thanks.

    I have a 2016 HR-V EX. Things I like are the flexibility of the Magic Seats, Best in class cargo space, and Fuel Milage (In 18 months & 34,000miles of mixed driving, I'm getting about 31.5 MPG). The exterior styling is nice. So nice that Toyota copied it for their CHR and then bolted a bunch of unnecessary sheet metal on it. I like the layout of the interior as well, but I miss having a sunglass holder. Dislikes? The upholstery is IMPOSSIBLE to clean, event the most innocent of spills. Every cleaner I've tried leaves a brown water ring. I've decided just to let it go and put aftermarket leather in when these are unbearable. Seat comfort is horrible. Some of the finishing materials are extremely cheap (for instance, your "carpet" in the interior is the black material usually reserved for lining trunks...get some HUSKY or Weather Tech floor matts), and the infotainment system is not very well laid out. However, I reserve most of my ire for the CVT paired with the 1.8. This thing is a turd to drive. It always seems like it's moaning under the stress of acceleration. Every Honda I've owned before was at least what I'd call "peppy". This one is more like "poopy". In hindsight, I wish I would've sacrificed some of the cargo space/flexibility and went with the Crosstrek.

      Great insights! Thanks for writing. Yeah, the HR-V has some great features but is far from perfect.

      I have the EX as well, but with the 6 speed manual. The manual take care if the lack of engine power for me. I can get excellent acceleration with the manual. I agree about the cheap carpet, but being near the bottom of the lineup, I wasn't expecting much. I got it for the magic seats for my large dog to be more comfortable, so I have the Weather Techh floor mats, so it doesn't bother me.

    Toyota's RAV4 looks so much better!

  • @honestycounts9352
    @honestycounts9352 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The HR-V looks fantastic inside, but once you try to accelerate you quickly realize that the vehicle is all SHOW and no GO.
    Meanwhile, just hop into a similarly sized Mazda CX 3 and you will notice that the car has an interior that is not as nice, but wow, does it ever have a lot more PEP in the engine department then the HR-V ! If you want a fun vehicle to drive then steer clear of the Honda and get the Mazda instead. If you are a slow driver and you don't mind taking half a day getting up to 60 mph, then get the HR-V. And all of this is due to the Honda's CVT transmission sucking all of the power out of the engine upon acceleration. It really is extremely sluggish off of the line, its almost DANGEROUSLY slow.
