Day by day we're building our homestead here in Alaska. One year ago, we sold everything & headed West to continue our pursuit for a life of freedom & self sufficiency OFF GRID in ALASKA. We've built two homesteads from the ground up in Virginia, but this one is different because it's our forever home.
The chickens will start laying this fall, and these sheep will provide dairy & meat for our family. No one is 100% self sufficient, and that's not our goal. Our goal is to do the best we can each day & most importantly grow as much of our own food as possible. Times are changing & it's crucial to know where your food comes from and what's IN IT!
Alaska naturally provides wild game & an array of delicious fish & birds for our family. Adding the sheep to our homestead just sweetens the deal. They're smaller than cows, they eat less and are so easy to maintain. Plus their meat & milk is delish! Today, we're picking up our new flock of Icelandic/Shetland cross sheep, inviting you to come along for the ride! I lost my grandma/mom last September 5th, she was 96. She adopted me from her oldest daughter who was 19 and in college at the time. She raised me and was my mom and grandma. Even at 96, we still didn't expect it. She was healthy and strong and getting around good but she fell and hit her head and we had her go to the hospital. Nothing was broken and she was doing good then ended up getting covid in the hospital, ended up with covid related pneumonia and was gone within a month. We were blessed that she was able to come home and with the help of hospice passed peacefully at home with my sister and I. I can absolutely relate with how much of a shock it can be, despite their age, they were doing good. Our comfort is the same as yours, mom loved the Lord and was ready to go home and we know we will see her again one day. You're in our prayers and just keep reminding yourself that he's in paradise and young again!! How amazing is that! God bless you guys. ❤️🙏

God bless you girl. I lost my wife of 28 years last July to cancer. I just 56 so I'm trying to figure it all out again. Watching your family adventures has been a blessing to me so thank you . Biggest hug to you all.

Tina I love your spunk and that you don’t care what others think. We need more people in this world like you.
My Daddy was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on my birthday 2016. He passed 5 days later. They told us 3-6 months. He was an independent man lived on his own. So 5 days shocked us. The one thing I know is my Momma came to get him and take him home with Jesus. He looked up to the corner said her name and smiled he went so peacefully. I was sad and happy at the same time. I’m so sorry to hear about your grandpa but he’s in heaven with the people he loves .
Life is short and we just never know when our last days will be! Life is very fragile, but you can not blame yourself for anything! It’s hard not too! I went thru this with my mom and dad both with cancer! My dad had lung cancer also! It’s so hard to loose a love one! Hang in there, God will get tou thru this!
I lost my Dad on October 30th 2018. He had congestive heart failure. He had trouble breathing so we called 911. I thought I was gonna send him to the hospital and they were gonna fix him and send him home. He passed on the way to the hospital. It happens so fast. I think of him every day. He lived with us for 10 years before he went home. My prayers are with you. My Dad was cremated as well. Joel P Swearingen was 74. He was saved and ready to go.
Ok..You made us cry. "I don't know about tomorrow but I know who holds my hand." God's blessings to your family..Amen.

I appreciate your concern. But, Nampa is dead so he CANNOT be in Alaska. Furthermore, you cannot have a conversation with the dead. It is dishonest and not comforting to someone who is grieving when you make such awful statements like that.

I am a Catholic, so I also speak/pray to the Blessed Mother and Saints for intercession on my behalf. I speak to my deceased parents because I know some way some how they are still with us! As a matter of fact, I will pray for you too because you need it, we all need it! God bless you.
So sorry Tina. What wonderful memories you have of your Nampa. He's just changed his address. I'm sure he's dancing and celebrating with your grandma. Doesnt make it easy on us down here but in the not too distant future you'll see him again. What a day of rejoicing that will be!!! Love your sheep. Everything is coming together. You are wrong. He died. He did NOT change his address. He is NOT dancing or celebrating anything at all. It is not good or helpful to make such awful statements. But Nampa was a Christian, so his soul is in Heaven.

Tina, my girl, my heart goes out to you because in 2017 I lost two brothers from stage 4 lung cancer, and also lost my mom 5 months before they passed. My two brothers died twelve days apart. And now, I have a beloved nephew with cancer in his right lung as well and he is also retaining fluid and he might need a tube to drain it. My youngest sister was also diagnosed with uterine cancer as well. I'm crying with you because is hard to lose a love one. Your beloved grandpa showed how much he loved you and your family. Those are the beautiful memories that keeps us going. Don't feel bad because you weren't there. Everything happened to fast. I'm sending you and your family my prayers and hugs. God will give you all the strength you need. HE did the same for me. I love you all, my sweets! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

Hugs and God’s Peace on your precious heart. I lost my Momma on March 21st. She was diagnosed on February 2nd with stage 4 colon cancer. Nothing could be done so we brought her home and Daddy and I took care of her for those last weeks. You will be working thru the diagnosis and the loss at the same time in the coming days and it won’t be easy so just rest in your beliefs with God. ❤

Sweetie I am so sorry for your loss. Don't feel bad about your grandpa going to California. That's what he wanted so I am sure he was so grateful to y"all for helping him do that. I remember when my mom passed and I had been living with her. My daughter wanted me to move across country, and she held my heart, and so my mom told me to go even though I didn't want to leave her too soon. I knew she had been ill for awhile. She passed 2 months after my move. I did the same thing you did and blamed myself for not spending the time with her. My dad told me to stop it because my mom was so happy I went. She also looked forward to our (my daughter and her family) phone calls. We called almost every other day. God Bless your family, and I Hope you lean on the lord to get you through this time.❤❤❤

Tina, my sincerest condolences. My dad lived with me the last 3 years of his life. He was 80 when I took him to the airport and put him on a plane to visit his best friend who lived out of state. He called me every night while gone. I missed his call on Friday eve. He died soon after. I will always have his last recorded message in my mind….”hey gal, I miss you. I’ll see you on Sunday.” I will forever miss him, but I know I will be reunited with him in heaven. Please take care. Your message was powerful. Thank you for being you.

Seriously God spared your Grandpa a lot of pain. That may sound crazy but I’ve been through chemotherapy & it’s rough. He’s already in a place that we all look forward to going to. Be happy for him ✝️
I lost my nephew in August due to a drug overdose, I had to cut all ties with him before he passed because my heart could no longer see him go down that road. I have so much guilt that his last days I didn’t see him. I’m thankful that his battle is no longer and is no longer struggling. Sending you a big virtual hug heart❤

That illness took my grandpa. He tried chemo. They gave him 3 mon when he found out. He lived 9 mon. He enjoyed his great grandkids. I am praying for you all. He wanted quality of life. He knows how much you love him. God's timing even if we don't like it. HE KNOWS BEST. I lost my husband june 12th last yr. Hold on to your family. Love them. Honor grandpa with living strong together. I didn't get to say goodbye to my grandma. I know the thoughts and the pain. I will be praying for you all.

Tina, surprise Joe, get the Log Spliter. You both will be so happy that you have one. Both boys can use it. Plus, it will free up Joe for other projects and clearing the trees. Also, get a kindling splinter it mounts on a tree or post, and the boys can use it. Joe's got to build a shelter for the sheep and wood, plus I'm sure several other projects. Those 2 items are on Amazon and will save Joe's back. Prayers and Hugs sent never easy when a loved one passes.

Hi lovely lady I am truly sorry for your loss, but just think he closed his eyes here and woke up in heaven. I pray Jesus over you and your family for peace, strength, and good rest in this difficult time. I too know what loss is my husband of 54 years has an incurable lung disease so we count each day as a gift from the Lord knowing that God set my beloved's days.

Thinking about your family in your grief. My dad had cancer and i could never visit because he didnt want my kids see him that way. I finally got someone to babysit and was going to see him next morning. That night got a call he went to heaven. I know how you feel. Im sure hes in heaven looking down on you.
It’s tough Tina. Have unexpectedly lost both parents. My husband passed unexpectedly this past July. I get my strength from the Lord. You too will receive His comfort and strength.
I am so sorry that your grandpa passed. You never know.I am so sorry he was held back from leaving this earth when God called him. God had his plan. I am a retired nurse and have been in both sides of this world, Just think of the joy you will have when your souls meet again,I bet he will have a grand time when he meets up with grandma.. I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad last year. When you said they put your Grandpas glasses in the bag in the hospital it brought a flood of memories back about my Dad.
