Looking good. Nice and lightweight freestanding awning. 👍 To make it even better, why not already include an attached folding pole to that rear corner arm (where you attached the pole), and have a pole hole at the ends of the others arms? Plus a minor improvement you should consider is swapping the velcro with zippers for the walls. In my experience, velcros are not as good as zippers when it comes to awning walls.
Yeah I’ve found Velcro is great if you manage to align it perfectly the first go but if it’s quite wide, thick quality Velcro like most of the Drifta ones, it can be hard to rip it off and reapply if you don’t get it right the 1st time - especially after a beverage or two 🤪🤣👍
Looks great and I want one. How about considering a minor change at the rear for those cars with a tailgate like a Patrol. Maybe rearrange the rear support arm somehow so it doesn't cross diagonally across the top of the tailgate, but follows it in a parallel manner somehow. That would be awesome
Any plans to make a shorter 270 awning? There should be a market for all the dual cab owners with canopies due to the limited mounting options on the rear
Looks decent . . . . . Great to have it under 20kg. Been looking at the 30second awning for a while and I think they're a lot stronger and they have a pole included. Bit heavier at 24kg but I think might be the winner due to strength . . . . Zips for the walls is much better I'd say
@@4x4touring47 yer had it for 2 yrs now. Its still my favourite mod. Literally not even 30 secs to set up. Zip on tent is mint to. And if the stockton range is guna b $1100 its cheaper by $150.

I will 100% buy one, with walls. If you make them attach via a zipper over Velcro. The Velcro does not hold up in any wind what so ever in my experience. Other than that it’s exactly what I’m looking for for my 76
It doesn't look like it has much coverage at the rear. The rear arm that secures against the car appears short. I'd like to know the square metreage of cover. How far they extend from side and rear of car. Thanks
I'm not an engineer, but I *really* like the triangular shape of the arms, it just makes perfect sense. Can they mount on Rhino-Rack Vortex crossbars? If so I'm ready to order! Another *really* brilliant design feature I love, is that Jeep owners who have tailgate tables where they cook, that end of the awning is straight back, not angled, so fully covers!
I image part of weight saving comes from the fact that it is made out of non canvas material which i support for awning (but not for tents). Question is how durable would the fabric be?
The BEST! Really!! There is NOTHING on the market like this, quality / price! Ticks all the boxes, I can't believe I just bought a DARCHE which I have to sell it now, this one here is too good, beats mine by far, plus cheapper!!!
@@0825Krispy Look at the strong arms! On Darche you HAVE TO put ALL the polls down, if you leave it without, it will 100% crack the aluminium hinge under its own weight. Drifta's floating easily and only requires ONE leg in a storm.
Looks ok, but I like the OCAM one better, it has 3 integrated poles if required as part of the awnings arms, they clip into the awning arms and fold away with the awning so don't need to buy more accessories then find somewhere to store or misplace them, no details on the website about material etc , OCAM has 600D Oxford Fabric, plus has flip up water deflector post, and is cheaper than this one, this is ok design but I think you missed the boat with this execution of this one.
If you could sell them for $800 i reckon it would really shake up the market !. But of your going to sell them for around the $900 i would rather just spend the extra money on a darche one. Just my 2 cents
The Darche is not a true freestanding awning (setup and pack down only) and has a RRP of $1399. A true free standing awning at $999 is a game changer IMHO. The only real question mark is whether the quality is sufficient to last in Australian conditions. Time will tell.
Bushwakka has a version of this (Chinese made) for around the same price. But that has an attached single folding pole and seems much strong (he showed two kids hanging off the arms), and only weighs 22kgs. I think Bushwakka's is the main competition for this.
Hi Luke - awning looks great. I have been hoping Drifta would make a free standing 270!! Does it still have the sail track to hang the LED strip light? I really like that light fixture.
hi mate, not really a rating for wind, as impossible to tell really, and mostly wind 'gusts' , it might blow 20 k an hour from the NE all day but gust double that every now and then : ) but I'd say 20 - 30 km an hour no problem, as long as the back is to the wind .. ie drivers side.. very easy to tie down tho, and don't need a pole, just a rope of two.. : ) L
For anyone considering this awning, It's really not that great, here are the facts nobody is mentioning... Good for occasional use where quick set-up is more important than actual functionality. It's coverage is quite poor and doesn't offer much shelter compared to that of the rapid wing 4. It doesn't cope well in heavy rain and collects water if you're not pulling the canvas down with heaps of ropes. Due to it being a free-standing awning, you can't adjust the height to get optimal shade and shelter. It's also 3kgs heavier than the larger rapid wing 4 and is more expensive for something that has less quality canvas and is probably made in china. Considering these disadvantages, I don't see why you would bother. 🤔
The Stockton range is a let down. I’d rather pay more for genuine Drifta, they were a niche brand but now the Stockton range selling everything and going a bit kingsy
@@Schimmel860 didn’t buy one. Went into the store and inspected their products. The rapid wing is great , I’m merely talking about the Stockton range. I understand they are trying to target a different market with a cheaper price point but with that comes less quality
