    When I was 11, I got a dell precision T3600 for free when my dad's work was upgrading PCs.
    It came with a 4 core 8 thread Xeon CPU, 16 gigs of RAM, a quadro 2000 and no hdds
    over the previous 4 years, I upgraded parts of it, and now its in its final form
    Xeon e5-2665 CPU (8 core 16 thread)
    Nvidia RTX 2060 Super GPU
    32GB DDR3 RAM
    240GB SSD, 2 x 2 TB HDD
    It's quite a beast for the software development stuff I do now, handles ML really well (cuz of the 2060)
    I plan to improve its aesthetics as well.

    This came out awesome man. It's cool to see people doing the same thing with these types of PC's that I do. Honestly it's a great service refurbishing these off cycle computers. It keeps them off the ever growing E-waste heap. Another awesome video , keep them coming!

      Thanks much appreciate. Yea I was glad to save this and of course make a decent profit. The biggest value was getting the e 1240 cpu and 12gb ddr3 and swapping it into a better build. Now that other budget builds is def gonna have a better value! Thanks again!

    I got a DVD in my Antec 300 case that I just refurbished recently. I don't use it that much, it is functional, but I don't use it that much. However, if I want to use it, I can still play cd music if I want to.

    Came out slick. Do you have to rewire these LED strips to be able to plug them using the PCs power supply ? Also, do you use a website to figure out which CPUs works with what motherboard or have you memorized what motherboards these old office PCs use (from doing so many of them). It amazes me how you can just talk about the different CPUs to use with what motherboards. Cool informational video as usual.

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the LED I buy a sata led kit you can get on amazon. I use a sata splitter and was able to split it with the SSD or DVD sata power. As far as what site I use, I don't have any I use. What I do is just type in the cpu I wanna use plus the chipset and model or model and chip and surf the web. Example xeon 1240v3 in a precision 1700. type it in a search engine and read a bunch of forums and site about it. Their is a couple of optiplex forums on facebook i am apart of that really help give some info. I spend alot of time just reading and putting together enough reliable info to take the plunge and by a chip and try it out myself lol.. Thanks!

    Hi, my optiplex760 I know is 10 years old can you suggest something to make this old dog sound a little better. Your help was much appreciated last time around thank you.

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey check out my channel as I have a video on a 780sff which is very similar to the 760 where I did a full upgrade and custom build with cutting a window and adding a rgb case fan. I would first start with a solid state drive. Instant performance boost guaranteed, just might have to do a reinstall of windows unless you are familiar with cloning your drive. Then max out the cpu to the q9650, 8gb ram and a 1030, 1050 would be a decent gpu for it. make sure the gpu doesn't use external pci express power or you will have to change the power supply. When I did that upgrade I was able to get into some decent entry level gaming with it and it made for a decent running pc. Thanks for watching and let me know if you need any more input.

    I just got the same computer, the only difference is I got a Xeon E3-1225 v3, 1TB SSD, and no GPU. Im planning on buying a GTX 1650 low profile when prices go down because I've seen a lot of SFF videos with 1650 lp. Will the 1650 actually work? If it does will I have to upgrade any of the components, which is bad because at that point ill just save for a better pc. If it does work and I don't need to upgrade any other components then I'll buy a bigger case for transfer (if it can), maybe 500+ PSU, and more fans, I believe that shouldn't go over 100$.

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the 1650 will work just fine and is the perfect upgrade. required no supplemental power and if you change the case later on the low profile can be switch to a normal i/ plate.

    • @b0ne91
      @b0ne91 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since pricely are unlikely to go down, just get a card that your PSU can handle (like an R9 270X, R9 380, GTX 960/970), cut part of the PCIE mounts and side panel to make space for it. You could even 3D print a cover to go over the GPU that's now sticking out of the case and give it proper ventilation while still concealing it.

    I like watching these types of builds and not the Linus $20,000 builds. Can you list in your parts which LED strips you use. I like the light Blue Hue which may be a shade of white in some of your builds, but if you can list the LED strips, I would appreciate it.
    I watched your long trip to buy the Ryzen 5000 series CPU from the stranger for cash. Surprisingly, the roads in North Carolina are made the same as Georgia's. At first I thought you were in South Georgia, until you said it was N.C. That is how our roads look when we head down to Macon and cross over to the Gator Bowl.
    I always liked small upgrades to the Optiplex, Hp or Lenova Business Computers more than I liked building new PC's from the ground up. I have been wanting to hang my PC on the wall or a far second is building a case out of CPVC.

      @DLMtechgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Appreciate you watching and glad you like my videos. very humbled by that. I will post a link to the strip I use. Works great and use it all the time for these office builds. I'm big on these Office Pc's as they are easy money to flip with a little modding, plus throw in some RGB and people go nuts for it. Got another coming out Friday I did of a lenovo M83. Today's video was laying the grounds work for the Lenovo by updating the bios for the xeon I am putting in it. I wanted to hang my PC on the wall, but happy wife happy life lol... so yea. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for the video! Keep it up!! Is it possible to use the same PSU to power a gtx 1660 (LOW PROFILE). Should I use in this case adapters? Or doest the Motherboard have a 6-pin conneector already? Please tell me otherwise what is the best GPU I can install in this Desktop/case!

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not seen a 1660 low profile for the sff cases, also the power requirements are high so using the stock small psu would not work and make it unstable even if you use the adaptors. if you do a case swap then you can use whatever you want due to using a different power supply. in this case the best graphics card for this sff platform would be a 1650 low profile. they are pretty decent 1080p performers.

    You felt the need to cover the CD slot... But then left a HUGE gap with the side panel... Your temp issues are because the CPU fan is supposed to vent out the side panned, a big open dust slot, & one that makes it so the airflow direction isn't controlled is a general bad idea...
    You wasted a bunch of with your cuts on the Plexi, I'm hoping that was avoiding blemishes or something
    If you spray-paint under the motherboard you should at least put a screw in the standoffs when you paint so no paint gets in it as that reduces conductivity of the grounding for those screws (not major but reduces motherboard static issues) & can affect how secure those standoffs are.
    Painting over the product key... Come on... One of the best things about Pre-Builts is they come with a License so long as you use the original Hardware...
    Painting the fans... Yikes, just get some cheap fans the color you want... If needed swap out the connectors since Dell sometimes uses their dumb non-standard fan connectors, but fans are moving parts, the paint will flake off, get into everything, affect the balance of the fans, etc, etc.
    SSD mounted to the power supply... Yikes... The heat...
