As a big fan of the 100 series and owner of a few Red Panel modules, this tutorial really nails the sound. Fantastic video, subscribed!

I’m so glad to hear that! I own a 158 RP and think that people should be able to access this sound more easily :)

If you switch the second oscillator from saw to square that's actually become a 258 dual osc from buchla 200 series. And, the triangle output is also there, which I see used in some models as a third output (258D from Source of Uncertainty video for example).

The 258 is acutally another Video that I want to make when my Computer stops acting up. One of the key features though that I have only ever seen on the 258 is the 2 Pitch Cv inputs with attenuators for multiple CV ins. I hope I can make that Video soon :)

@@crozpatching4598 yeah, two v/oct is very mysterious, at least for me. Looking forward to your new videos, we need more Buchla stuff in VCV

@@dedcosmonaut Agreed! I hope there will be some modules in the future more focused on Buchla and Serge. Regarding the 2 inputs: You could connect a keyboard and a sequencer in each of the inlets to transpose the sequence. I assume that the incoming voltage is getting summed similar to the Moog 921 which has 3 Frequency inputs

Thanks! I'd love to see how you randomize the sequencer in a number of ways.

It’s actually just command R on Mac 😅. It’s quicker than setting them manually

Cool patch idea. I love the Buchla sound and own Arturia Buchla Easel, Fxpansion Cypher 2, Aalto, Softube Modular, Pigments 3 and Morphox, all of which are capable of providing varying degrees of this particular sound. I frequently create Buchla style fm perc sounds and blend them with pitched percussion like Hang drums and Gamelan, to create some evocative and dense textures with plenty of timbral variation. One question though, wouldn't it be simpler to build this voice with one of the many complex oscillators that VCV has already? Or does starting with more basic elements offer more flexibility for you?

Hi Adam, yes there are already some cool complex oscillators out there. My personal favourite is the Instruo Cs-L that is quite the unique oscillator. However, in my tutorials my goal is not just to show how to achive the sound but also explain how to create it. My opinion is that if you you know every part of the signal flow, you have a much better understanding of controling each parameter. The problem I have with most VSTs is that you primarily click through presets with really learning how the instrument works (at least for me) but in VCV you have to build everything yourself, meaning you have to understand all the elements that go into creating the sound you desire

Hey there, I’m using an expert sleepers interface and am patching one of the outputs into an input :)
