Definately. I just asked because im quite involved with the boxing scene here in S.Africa and i agree its such a shame that we have talented boxers here who should be making decent money. I know a current World champ Zolani Morali who doesnt even own a car .. Its sad when champions cannot earn a living in such a tough career. Seems unjust in fact...

In the UK too there's a lot of fighters who are living very well with their families but don't have nearly half what they have. Last weekend also to be noted. That's what matters Laurence. OK fight, great right over the top to finish it, but Fields has no lateral movement and no jab so Junior was able to be lazy. I'd like to see Junior fight Yunier Dorticos. There's a bloke who can move and punch and has a decent jab so junior would have to work much harder than in this fight, and it would be a test for Dorticos too because Junior has a sneaky defense that he can change quickly to offense.
I think Makabu’s career is finished, he was scheduled to fight Olanrewaju Durodola at Cruiserweight for the WBC Silver title but that fight never came to fruition and there’s no news regarding it.
At 13:53 when he ducked and hit Fields with a right hook --very impressive. I noticed he kept some distance from his opponent throughout the fight, probably because his competitor has a longer reach; Smart move from Makabu. 17:36 nice left hand, feint, right hook, slips Field's right jab and returns a left hook of his own--that's great punching. 17:35 - 17:58 is magnificent. He has the skills and power to beat Grigory Drozd; His only problem is that he is flat footed.
+Youssouf Moussa Yeah Grigory's last fight was extremely impressive. He may just out move Junior but Junior still has solid evasive skills at close range. Both have fast punches. But I still think Drozd will take that fight.
+Growing Up Meadows He can take the fight if he keeps some distance and boxes from the outside. But if Junior lands consistently, Drozd will slow down --these shots will hurt him. I'm not sure Drozd will be prepared for Makabu's deceptive feints and combinations either. It all depends on Grigory's defense and quickness. If he gets hit a lot, he's getting knocked out.
That is not a problem wolf6538. The important thing is getting the job done and so in an impressive fashion and that he does well. Nothing wrong with showmanship. But talk the talk and walk the walk then you do well. He could potentially make a lot of money in this sport. Moruti Mthalani is another South African power house who should be making good money but is fighting for peanuts and the moment. With their talents they'd make a lot of money for themselves and their families if they came here
Hi Mitchell, i think the problem here is the divide of revenue. Promoters by and large get the lions share which is ridiculous because the only lions are in the ring. Another problem here is coverage . TV networks are not placing Boxing high enough on the radar therefore the exposure and money flying around is limited. Its sad and needs to be corrected. You are right . A pro boxer should fight 4 times a yer minimum. thats 1 fight every 3 months perfectly do able. Zolani fought 3 times in 2009.
well done on both guys to take this fight. both of them could of taken an easier route for more money but they didnt they took this for the chance to have either prospect on thier record. what a matchmaker is there to do.
2nd part. I know that WBF and IBO are not in high demand which could probably be one reason but they don't need to fight for a major world title to make good money. There're promoters here and in the UK that would be ready and willing to sign them up with good sign up bonus! Ask Joshua Clottey. He fights this weekend. I need to say though that he needs to be seen. If there's videos of his fights that will help big time. In the whole of youtube I can't see any name like Zolani Morali. Let me know
