The first time I watched "The Omen" was my wedding night lol! The music works really hard to convince you that Damian is evil, when he's really just a cute little guy. "Cemetery Man" is one of my all time faves! I'll have to check out those crime films and giallo titles.
Thanks for this. I've added some of these to my "to be watched" list. I'm glad to see that "Black Sunday" made your list. I saw it when I was a little kid and that opening scene hammering the mask onto Barbara Steele's face disturbed me for weeks. However, for the benefit of those who haven't seen it, I want to say that while I can see the thematic similarities with "Hocus Pocus" it has none of HP's silliness. Also, I hope you'll have more to say about the themes of movies like "The Omen" carrying over into Bible Belt religion. I grew up in that environment a generation (or maybe two generations) before you and it traumatized me far more than any horror movie. Thankfully, I eventually recovered.
My condolences to a fellow bible belt survivor! I once heard someone say that if the exorcist was the movie for catholics, the omen was the movie for protestants. Antichrist and endtimes talk were all over the place when I was growing up. i had no idea that the antichrist being the son of the devil, having a 666 birthmark, etc. came straight out of this movie!
15 straight-up bangers there. Give yourselves a collective pat on the back, Katie of the Night fans. You guys have great taste! It's great that you're getting into Rollin, Katie. I know that for most viewers he'll probably be a great cure for insomnia. But if you can get on his wavelength, he's a vibe like no other filmmaker. It's funny that you mentioned Alucarda and Valerie and Her Week of Wonders together as I recently did a kind of fan trailer for Alucarda on my channel in which I used music from Valerie. Out of curiosity, is your Letterboxd a fairly comprehensive list of all you've watched? It's just that if I was to recommend a film I don't want to recommend something you've already watched.
Well said - ya gotta be in the right state to enjoy rollin, it seems. and not be sleepy. lol. OH that's crazy about the fan trailer! I'll have to check it out. I only started tracking my lb watches about 3 years ago, though I did try to log some of the films I've watched throughout life. It's not comprehensive but I guess it's pretty close. go ahead and recommend!
Yes, "Let's Scare Jessica to Death" is one of my faves. The director was supposed to direct "Jaws 2" but was fired because the studio felt that what he had shot was too dark in tone.
Another great video! I just look forward to them now! So I guess I’m not technically savvy at all because I just realized I can click and go to your channel and there’s a bunch of stuff like the interactive community section that I’ve been missing!😂 Anyway thanks again! Just watched Mystere and besides the ending which was a little disappointing but I won’t elaborate here I thought it was great! I can usually tell after the first 5 minutes of a movie if I’m going to like it or not. So looking forward to Sweets from a Sranger now and of course follow up with Obsession at Taste for Fear. Which I’ve seen quite a few times but on TH-cam it was not the best quality video so it will be nice to see the remastered version with all the extras !! Thanks again 😊
Thank you kevin! glad youre enjoying the channel. I too was disappointed and confused by the ending of Mystere. lol. But yeah hopefully you'll enjoy the new and improved Obsession!
Congratulations on 9K, and the bangs are Bellissima. You need to tell us more about the Omen's influence on the Bible Belt. You should expand your beat a little.
Thank you!!! Ya know, I did a video a few years ago about the bible belt, but I think I have since privated it. It is a difficult and nuanced subject to tackle. it also felt very vulnerable and controversial to speak on it as it's extremely sensitive for some people. And it's hard for me to openly criticize because I still live here, and my family, friends, and coworkers are religious. But basically, if the exorcist was the movie for catholics, the omen was the movie for protestants. Antichrist and endtimes talk were all over the place when I was growing up. i had no idea that the antichrist being the son of the devil, having a 666 birthmark, etc. came straight out of this movie!
I have to say, this is a banger of a list. I have either seen, or want to see every one of these movies. The only one I wasn't familiar with was Dawn of the Beast, but a Bigfoot vs Wendigo movie, I am all in on that. Thanks for the great list.
AWH yeah! I know a lot of these flicks are already well-loved so I'm glad I was able to share a hidden gem with the Bigfoot vs Wendigo one :) i hope you like it if you check it out!
I wacthed him in Counselor at Crime (1973) last night, great Riz Ortolani score. For more Milian, I'd recommend The Designated Victim (1971), Young, Violent, Dangerous (1976), Emergency Squad (1974), The Cop in Blue Jeans (1976) and with Merli again in The Cynic, the Rat and the Fist (1977).
Thanks for giving me some more movies to watch in 2025 that will be first time watches for me. I will admit that I have never watched “The Omen” either. I’ll watch in 2025. If you haven’t seen “Strange Darling” from 2024, I recommend that. My favorite movie of 2024. Also, I hope you’ll watch “Perversion Story” in 2025. Looking forward to 2025 and more reviews from my favorite reviewer (you).
I do wanna see Strange Darling! and I did watch perversion story, I thought it was awesome! I'm ur favorite??? 😭 thank you, shucks!! i'll try to do ya proud.
1977s (Creature from black lake) is a pretty great cheesy cryptid bigfoot film which is free on TH-cam. You might like it.Also 1980s (Humanoids from the deep) is a really good creature feature sorta like creature from the black lagoon also free on TH-cam.Just saying
I love Alice sweet Alice and Christmas evil. Both of which you said were the "worse" but I love those movies. Those two are great. And I love grimy, gritty, filthy. I've thought about giving Living dead girl a second chance. I watched it way back in the 2000's. I thought it was TERRIBLE. Ghostwatch. I also found to be fairly bad. I was sick and tired of the "prank calls" through out the film. Just didn't like it. Wasn't scary or anything. I just found it kind of plain. Really? You really liked Just before dawn? Great. That's a good movie. Love, Love Cementary man. Frankenhook is a great fun movie. Need to give Let's scare Jessica to death a second watch. The title might of thrown me off. I gave it a watch in 2023, I kind of liked it. I really need to give it a second rewatch. i think I was slightly biased because of the title name. Not a fan of Black Sunday. I tried to watch it twice, but for what ever reason didn't. Tried to watch it a third time and I actually did in fact watch it and was not a fan. The omen, I really need to give that movie a rewatch, but I never loved it or anything. I watched it once in the 90's and forgot about it. Watched it again in like 2011 and didn't like it that much. But I might like and appreciate it now. Love Frightmare. I use to watch it all the time back in the 2000's and early 2010's. Now I watch it every 5, 6 years.
@@LarryFleetwood8675 Again, I love Frightmare. That being said, I did watch House of Mortal Sin last year. Been meaning to watch it for a long time. Did not care for it. It was decent. Nothing special or great.
I thought Ghostwatch was rather silly tbh 😅 It was all very staged and having Craig Charles from Red Dwarf meant I had a hard time taking it seriously.
👁🫦👁 Looking right into My eyes, High Priestess of Evil? I feel so Blessed!🤘😵💫❤️🔥 I wish I could have an extended discussion here about Just Before Dawn, but I'm not trying to spoil it either. I'm just so glad I was able to pass the joy of it over to you. And I still keep a copy of Just Before Dawn on my phone at all times, just in case lol Constance is the Ultimate ever Forgotten Final Girl! I'm gonna have to tackle a few on this list, next up is The Blood on Satan's Claw. Alucarda seems interesting too. There's really not a lot of great Satanic Horror, not that I'm aware of, though I'm not usually drawn to Folk Horror, but maybe therein lies a logical intersection which I've been overlooking? Frankenhooker is such a charmer, it's really nice to see a bit more apprecation for it this past year. It is adorable, and charming, just like you! ...Super Crack 😂 I don't generally push more modern flicks, but speaking of Satanic Horror, have you ever screened Lords Of Salem? I'm not huge on Rob Zombie's films, they're usually take it or leave it for me, and I'm aware of how the internet freaking loved him before his Halloween remakes but now freaking hate him since his Halloween remakes, but regardless of how the trends of the generic masses feel, or is told to feel by the internet, imo his best work is Lords Of Salem. Exceptional modern(ish), Feminine, Black Metal based, Satanic Whitchcraft Horror 😚👌 I just watched Lair Of The White Worm again a couple of nights ago. I even used your form to bug you to watch it like a month or 2 ago, but here's me crossing my fingers for some future High Priestess of Evil coverage of Lair Of The White Worm. Hail Dionin!🤘❤️🔥🐍

I love The Omen, haven't seen it in quite a while now as I recall Damien doesn't say anything in the whole film or maybe I just don't remember it.
your wedding night! So romantic! lol.
@@KatieoftheNight I love my husband, but he understands that it really is all for Damien!
Thanks for this. I've added some of these to my "to be watched" list.

This is an absolute banger of a list. I must see Dawn of the Beast now.
Definitely check out High Crime. It's the real gold standard for Poliziotteschi. Even better than The Tough Ones.

The Living Dead Girl could be on a double bill with Hellraiser. And it's my favorite Rollin.
Love Rollin films!
'Undigestible' is an excellent descriptor for 'Cemetery Man' - not least because of all the digesting and lack thereof that goes on in it.
😂😂Delicious!
Great video!👍
Check out Lucio Fulci's Four of the Apocalypse to see Thomas Millian at his charismatic, horrifying best!

Hoping for a 4K of "Just Before Dawn"....
Constance is the Ultimate ever forgotten Final Girl! 🤜
i should give Living Dead Girl another chance. I tried to watch it late one night and fell asleep partway through and never revisited it.
Fair, it's definitely not one to watch while sleepy!
Nice hair 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

I concur those films are great cryptid flicks. Also 2006s (Abominable) &1977s (Snow beast) are pretty legit bigfoot films in fact 2 legit to quit imo.
