Nice! Have you considered applying a lacquer or other protective coating? I’m not sure how well the acrylic will hold up with your arm resting on it or brushing it while playing.
Hey! Quick question: if you were to paint the back of the guitar, how would you go about doing it since it's different than the front? I'm tryna paint my guitar from the childish pink it is to a more mature black with red roses, but literally no one seems to paint the back of the guitar and I can't find anything about doing so anywhere
I’ve painted the backs of a couple of guitars tho I don’t have a video of it. Hmmm 🤔 more or less a similar process. I might use a light sandpaper and go over the surface once if the surface already had a slight varnish to help the paint. Perhaps a thin layer of primer and then paint as usual. Finish with a varnish (paint on or spray) I keep something to cushion the front of the guitar when positioning it on whatever it’s resting on, and I take care not to lean on it too much as we might tend to. If I were painting all over, I’d do the back and sides first maybe, and give that enough time to dry and cure, doing the front last so I don’t rush it
@@HannahsMusicAndNovels yes. For a plastic back I’d definitely sand it otherwise the paint would likely have very little hold and just peel off really easily
For larger paint pieces on instruments I finish with varnish. If it’s a smaller embellishment I’ll sometimes use resin depending on what the client wants
Genuine question does it change how the guitar sounds? A friend of mine wants me to paint his guitar and I don’t wanna ruin the pretty sounds acoustic guitars have…
Heya! I've painted a couple of guitars, violins, and ukuleles, and I haven't noticed any change to how they sound. For this one, I did very light sanding of the varnish before painting, and I used acrylic so I'm not actually doing anything directly onto the actual wood. That being said, I'm always careful about the pegs, fretboard etc.
yoyoyo what up my musician friend !! heyo nice tune my friend !! i love your video keep it up !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep! I did some time after just didn’t get to film it at the time 😊
@@GilchiMi hi. what did you apply on top? spray or like mod podge things?
It was a semi gloss varnish I painted on
absolutely beautiful but is there any changes in your guitar sound?
Hi! No, there was no noticeable change in the sound or sound quality :) I also only painted the front
I like there and I think I want it but I can’t good at paint like you hahaha
Did you have to sand down the guitar first or did you just start painting on it as is?
Very light sanding. This guitar wasn't gloss varnished when it got to me so that made it easier

@@GilchiMi Thanks! Does this apply to wooden backs or plastic backs such as mine? I'm sorry, I forgot to add that detail in my original comment

@@GilchiMi Thx! Now I can conclude my endless research and soon begin my summer project 😊💖🙏
Did u put a coat on after? lovely work btw
Yes it was varnished afterward :)
@@GilchiMi which varnish did you use? Really beautiful work!
Did you coat it with clear paint afterwards cause that painting might come off as you play it.
It’s varnished, yes
💪👏👏👏
How much?
I know its been 3 years but is that just normal gouache
Hi. 👋🏼 it's acrylics ^^
@@GilchiMi oh thanks

You sand the guitar?
Just lightly. Very little actually since the guitar wasn't gloss varnished when it got to me so that made it much easier.

u ruined it sis
I respect your opinion on that. Well, to each his own 😊
