Even the rental company said our encounter is rare haha but it turned out that the adBlue system was faulty

​@@daphyyyvlogsThat's plain unlucky then.. my merc campervan also had issues - the dash display went black so I had no idea on how fast I'm driving, how much fuel I'm left with halfway thru my drive.. at the campsite I called them and they sent AA who couldn't figure what's wrong and redirect me back to Maui.. finally got a call back from their merc workshop and like $40 international calls later, managed to reset the fuse and resolved the issue
Lesson learnt: get local SIM if possible
