I confirm all your tips. Between 1993 and 2003 I was six times by camper van in NZ. Every journey 30 hours flight from Europe but it was it worth. NZ is the best country living in a camper van. I'm dreaming always of NZ but I'm to old for the long trip. Thanks for the video.
Wow you sure have explored New Zealand then! Glad you can agree on the tips I have shared in this video, as you would know lots yourself! Thanks for watching and sharing :D
Was remarkably hard to find a simple overview of what it's like to Van Life in New Zealand. Thank you for making this video! As an American I needed to know what it's like compared to USA and I think this video did a pretty good job of that 😁
I bring always like a 3 in 1 jacket (winterjacket, inlet to get out and rainjacket all in one), trousers with zippers at the legs, to have long and short ones in one and t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, different sizes, so I can wear them over each other as warmer layer or separate to have a cooler layer
@@chloeandludvig They are really good and practical, especially in the evening, when it gets a bit chilly. The inlet is a kind of fleece jacket, ideal for a chilly evening in a campervan☺️

Great tips all in all! I used to solo trip across great places like Iceland and Germany in a camper van but had to set my other plans aside during COVID. I'm planning a long South Island trip in a couple of months and your list brought back memories prepping for my adventures back then. Scared but excited; thanks for the tips - especially about laundry and bug repellent.
Wow, that sounds fantastic! I have yet to do a solo camper trip, but would love to at some point! So happy to hear you found the video helpful :) Enjoy your trip to the South Island!!
Thank you so much! One is in Te Puke in the north island - it’s called redwood farm treehouse. The other is in Otago South Island - it’s called rocky ridge hut. We booked them through canopy camping - I’m a little obsessed with all of the places on this website!! 🤓

I know I'm enjoying something when l take notes as l watch! All you spoke about is such common sense and a great series of reminders to make anyone's road trip better. 👍🏻💖.....and today ladies and gentlemen, plus all others, the best news is that there are more vids coming! Yippee!!

I mean "when you" do another instructional video, work on the background music and I'd suggest a better microphone in that studio. Small but important points. Hey Sean! Yay glad you got value out of this video - thanks for watching! Yes of course, this is called the Rocky Ridge Hut in Otago - I booked it through our favourite Glamping website - Canopy camping (you’ll find it so hard to choose!)

Am sure most people use a toilet but unfortunately in Auckland a freedom camper defecated right outside our houses outside their vans in a built up suburb on two occasions. Toilets need to be mandatory in camper vans or use paid facilities with toilets.

What are you talking about, freedome camping is still allowed in New Zealand. Many councils are making it harder for you to do so. For example, in Tauranga they limit the Freedom Camping spots in each car park at local parks. So yeah, its no longer a free for all where you can park up anywhere and camp, but you still can find places.
Why type of comment to make. One thing you are wrong, some councils have tightened up the rules and have limited the availability but not illegal. Also what’s with the “ you people comment “ ? Like who are you?

Oh my gosh that’s terrible!! And very gross. Some people shouldn’t be driving camper vans
were there any flies and insects while camping?
Yes, specially around the west coast of the South Island - you'll definitely want to bring bug spray ;)
We are not finding a camp van to rent ----- yikes we will be there tomorrow
Ooo good luck!
so you don't need a toilet as long as you stay by somewhere with a toilet?
As long as you stay at a proper campsite I believe - otherwise you’ll need one in the camper (I’m pretty sure)
I think to freedom camp you need self contained , otherwise campgrounds
What does he think about yr eyebrows

are wetas going into vans a common thing? thay are literally my worst nightmare 💀😭
Haha well we never experienced one in our van… but in our house is a different story 😅😂
Here's my top tip - don't. It's illegal now as New Zealand has had enough of you people messing up beauty spots.
Oh wow is it really? That’s a shame, but I am sure there were a lot of travellers acting irresponsibly and abusing the privilege. Thanks Brendan
