My best friend was recently a victim of the tornadoes in Tennessee on Dec. 11, 2023. She wasn’t hurt, but her aunt was in the ICU for two weeks after being impaled by debris from their garage. I live in a state where we have only had 138 tornadoes since 1950, about 2-3 per year. We’ve only had one F2, and nothing higher than that. So much respect for you and other storm chasers and spotters. Y’all are keeping a lot of people safe by getting out there and reporting danger so that others can get shelter. Thank you for what you do.

I live in Virginia Beach. Last summer there was an F3 tornado in a neighborhood a few miles away. Tornadoes like that are virtually unheard in this region. Worst storm I've ever seen, hurricanes I've been through weren't even close. Scary stuff. Respect to these chasers and all the people affected by these storms

As a photographer, Daniel is one of the individuals I would love to accompany as he constantly analyzes positions to prioritize safety, visibility and talking through the genesis and documentation of the events. Could get me much closer than I am comfortable navigating myself and could result is some spectacular museum worthy images.

I encountered a tornado like this mid afternoon in northern florida. i was driving northeast so it was in front of me or I was approaching the storm from behind?. The reflected sunshine was so orange and bright i thought i had somehow turned around and was driving west instead. I have also encountered that extra golden 'brassy' light from a blue sky in India before a monsoon struck.

Phwoar, that orange sky reminds me of bushfire season here in Aus, the sort of sky where you can’t tell if it’s day or night. I’ve always been fascinated by tornadoes & big storms, interest was sparked as a kid in cyclone season. Used to watch the old “extreme weather” type documentaries of tornado alley, gripped to the edge of my seat both fascinated and terrified of them. Can’t say I’m necessarily tempted to do a tornado tour of duty, although never say never. But for the meantime, finding your channel is enough to get my fix. Stay safe king

Hey there Daniel. Just curious, everyone always warns about amateurs, and some people complain about the field of storm chasing not being regulated. Have you and other veterans ever thought about an apprenticeship program, where you each get an amateur or two, and spend a season or two with them, to show them how to be safe and helpful? Like maybe year 1 would be you making the decisions and explaining why, and the second year could be allowing them to make the calls and predictions, while you are there to watch them and make sure they don't do anything stupid.

I don't think it's a bug or a raindrop because there's no rain dropping at the time and normally there's not bugs around during a storm like that. keep up the good work by the way I love watching your videos. To be fair just because you cannot see a tornado in the horizon, it's still best that the early warning broadcast sounds off alerting of such a hazard. Do you really want the alerts going off once the funnel hits the dirt or much much earlier?

Wow so awesome that day was. What a strange landspout ey? And so long lasting with that color and incredible structure. I was just south of you just before we both almost "got hit" and bailed! Plus the multiple spinups alomg that line were impressive. What a day.

Daniel may have been taking refuge behind an overturned semi-trailer, but it appears certain he was quite adequately held in place by the size of his balls. Good on you, mate.

Out of curiosity, why do you use GR level 3 when you can get level 2 radar on your phone?

I wish there was an auto directional system in vehicles that could project the direction we are facin on the windshield! That way I wouldn’t have to try to figure clues out!
