- This is how I built our cheap DIY collapsible chicken brooder for under $50. If you need a brooder that doesn't take up much space when it's not in use, this is an example of one you can build.

I gotta say - I watch a LOT of small scale farming TH-cam, and you guys make GREAT videos. You do good camera work, you're good speakers/presenters, your sound is always leveled out nicely (not sure if that's the right term) and I really enjoy how you approach video editing too.
So long as the content is valuable, I never hold it against an educational content creator if their videos aren't slick, but it's always really nice to find the best of both worlds! Thank you for taking the time to share these projects with us.

Nice! Only thing I can think of to possibly add is maybe some casters on that bottom so that if need me, it would be easy to roll it around to move it

Secure the feeder and water jug up off the bottom, so they don't spill so much. Good luck!
Yeah, those dewalts are great. Had that one for years. And it's been thrown across the shop, fallen off the roof and left out in the rain many a time, too!
They do hold up, I still have a 12 volt version, that works fine. Most brands tend to crack at the handle to motor corner, above the switch. I tend to put heavy pressure on them, and run them almost every day.
This was a great idea! I used one f those hge metal waterers past year, and let's just say it's not the most space saving item to have in your house.

I saw Lumnah acres do his its a great idea. I will be hatching quail later in the year been thinking about some bantams too.

As many as I can but my incubator will take 48 eggs fill the freezer and new breeding stock is the plan. I have 13 birds now.
Very nice! I used old vinyl flooring leftover from a basement remodel as a bottom. This is our first year trying it out and the video is coming soon....great job on this build!

I have that exact same saw ! been running it for years, when i spin it the blade walks about an eighth or so but that is nothing in the big picture : ] Cool rig, thanks for sharing !

We made the same brooder this year too. We have 12 layers right now but we are getting 50 meat birds as well in May.
It's a great little brooder, isn't it! Love how it collapses down to nothing and is so easy to pack away out of sight when not in use!

Nice video! I plan to implement these enhancements when I use Al's build. There's one thing I don't understand. How do the T brackets keep the hardware cloth from falling in? It'd make sense if the cloth were between the T bracket and the wood frame but in this case the cloth is on top of the bracket.
The T brackets just hold the centre support in places. The wire mesh is staples around the entire lid, including to the centre support.

Great video. How many meat chickens did you end up fitting inside this brooder? How long did you house them in the brooder? I have 25 on the way and typically keep them indoors 10-14 days. Love the design
You’ll easily fit 25 chicks in this one for 10-14 days.

Question- why didn't you pur the curve side down when laying the hardware cloth over the top to staple gun in ? Wouldn't it have been easier?
No particular reason. Just the way I laid it out. That stuff isn't fun to work with no matter which way you look at it. It's like wire fencing. Neither is fun. - Dave
