I've live in this sleepy little beach community in north Dunedin for many years. You chose the most perfect bit of Curlew to start your video out. I always get a peaceful feeling when I'm rounding those two curves on Curlew heading west and the water tower comes into view. Just a couple of notes: You say "Caladehsi," we who live here say "Caladeezy" ... oh, let's call the whole thing off! (For those old enough to know the reference...) And about the red tide -- unfortunately it is caused by fertilizer runoff, from gorgeous lawns and industrial agriculture and fertilizer manufacturers -- that all drain into the gulf. It's a hard situation to solve, but we do have fertilizer bans during certain months to address it as a first step. Maybe one day we'll all turn our lawns into organic victory gardens. (I dream.) But it's not a deal breaker for us to live here. The beach does get a whole lot of traffic. That's a drawback whether you live here or not. And you're not going to really get a true sense of winter traffic until the northerners fully feel free to travel again. Some of them do, some not so much. All in all, a laid back feeling here, and yes, the sky does seem bigger out here than in town.

My wife and I love Caledesi. One of our favorite spots in Fl. We've stayed at the marina many times on our 19 foot Oday sailboat. When the last ferry leaves for the day the island is almost deserted. Great beach. Nice hikes. Interesting kayaking. Red tide is keeping us away right now. Hopefully they will get that under control again. FL really should take better care of its environment. Dumping polluted waste water into Tampa Bay made red tide much much worse.

Red Tide occurs about every three to four years in the Sun Coast. It’s definitely not annual. It does seem to occur more often from Sarasota to Naples though. Dunedin is an excellent place to live but next time check out Ozona and Crystal Beach to. They’re just to the north of Dunedin. Downtown Palm Harbor would be good to feature to since you already did Downtown Dunedin.

Just south of Clearwater, the beaches are much nicer than Honeymoon Is. I’ve lived here four years and this is the second time we’ve had red tide. I think the million of gallons of contaminated water they dumped from Piney Point a few months ago, really made it worse this year. To me, the traffic is already bad, can’t imagine living in Miami.

Pronounced “Cala DEE see.” I lived there until last year. People are moving to Pinellas County by the droves, traffic is horrific, especially on US-19. It’s not what it used to be, sadly. Miamians will still think it’s good since it’s worse in Miami for now.

The East Coast and somewhere within walking distance to the beach makes more sense, but, that's yours and your lady friend's decision to make. Safe travels and Godspeed!

Yes that is something to think about as well. Even now being away from the beach for almost 2 weeks on this road trip I am missing it
