Destin Harbor Kayak Fishing - Lots of Fish but Few Fishermen. I got an invite from Joseph Rizzo to kayak fish the Destin Harbor with him. He said they have been catching lots of Jack's and Big Bluefish, My bait freezer was just about empty of shark bait so I couldn't turn down an offer like that. A friend of his had caught a 37" Bluefish in the previous couple of days there so the hunt was on for some big Bluefish. I found it curious that there are so many fish in the harbor but hardly anyone seems to fish it. So I hope you watch Joe and I get into some big fish. Caught some nice redfish many years ago when stationed at Eglin. Fished off docks below lower memorial lake. We ate good for days.

That slot at 5:20 is where I’ve limited out on pompano time after time during the run. There’s a deep channel between the sea wall and where you were sitting they hang out in. Bouncing matrix shad shrimp creole off the bottom.

I have them each rigged differently for different types of lures. So you can ditch tactics quickly it’s easier to have poles rigged differently than take the time to tie on a different lure each time, plus some of them have different line on them.

JSchally I do, but my freezer was about empty and I needed to restock on shark bait. We do eat fish a lot so I keep what we eat and what we use for bait. Also depends on the species.

Hoping for reds and trout in the bay and thought I would try one day off the beach but have beach done that

Your best bet is gonna be suspending baits or paddle tails in morning or evening. If live bait is an option you can always free line some pinfish or hang a live shrimp below a popping cork. Dawn and dusk target the shallows and flats then moving to a little deeper water as the sun rises. I like cloudy days the best seems to liven the bite up. Good luck!
