i joined guard the season right after covid hit.. learning online was definitely challenging 😭 i wish i had your videos while learning but im glad i found you now that im preparing to audition for DCI :’) ive come a long way from the beginning :D
Teaching for me was also incredibly difficult online as an instructor so I can only imagine how tough it was for you to learn from scratch during covid! But I'm glad I'm able to help you now in your DCI journey! Where do you think you're audition for? :)
OMG the not confident thing really hit home. Thats probably why my HS instructor didn't like me as much. (I definitely grew in confidence from Freshman to Senior)
I'm so sorry you feel that way! Everyone deserves an instructor that is supportive of them no matter how confident/ strong they are at the time (also they should've helped you grow your confidence too!)
For video auditions I would follow some of the same steps I put in her like the ones about confidence, having a great appearance, knowing different tricks/ skill you might need. Normally for video auditions groups have specific things that they want to see from you and they will list them out. If not a safe bet is to always have basics on your equipment shown and you performing a short piece of choreo on whatever piece of equipment you might want to spin with that organization.
It depends on the group. I have spun 39 and 37.5s in WGI and DCI. And yes you can still audition for weapon for any group, even If they spin 39s and you haven't, because they'll usually give you a weapon to spin if you need! I would do research on a group you want to audition for because they usually have that info available or you can ask :)

Could you do a video for pc auditions specifically? My guard captain spun pc last year and I want to audition this season
You really ought to ask your former captain about that. She’ll be able to help you the best.
For dci/wgi is it required to spin a 39” sabre? Like can you still get into groups if you spin a 36”?
