You don't have to have vocal range to be a great singer. Yes, it is nice if you have it. Most singers who use it do it wrong and by the time they are 40, they are struggling. There are many GREAT singers who don't have a super range and I find it pretty sad that upcoming generations don't care unless a man or woman can hit dog whistle registry...It is about tone, pitch, and soul/personality. Gaga, Adele, Whitney, Mahalia Jackson, Toni Braxton, Anita Baker...all stunning and soulful singers that create a beautiful sound without having to stretch out their vocal chords to ear piercing levels.
