  • Everyone wants a luxurious bathroom to relax, refresh, and just take the edge off of daily life. Not everyone has an unlimited budget. The pros know where to splurge and where to save.
The budget on this project was moderate, but the floor plan allowed ample space to create a true spa bath experience. This is what i did to maximize luxury and minimize costs:
    1. Start with a large room (as large as you can manage; this one is about 15'x20').
    2. Strong focal point upon entry.
    3. Nicely-proportioned freestanding tub (this one is by Kohler).
    4. Statement flooring (inexpensive porcelain tile).
    5. Book-matched porcelain slabs. This was the "big splurge" in the space and it makes the room.
    6. Commercial-grade wallpaper looks great and holds up well in wet areas.
    7. Consistency in plumbing fixtures is key (featured here is the Kohler Purist line).
    8. Spacious vanity areas with simple cabinetry layouts give you space to settle in.
    9. Mirrored vanity walls make the room look bigger.
    10. Separate toilet area.
    11. Elevated sconces (these are by Kelly Wearstler).
    12. Full-height, frameless shower glass.
This project is starting construction in 2021.
