Cockerill Protected Weapon Station Generation 2

Christopher F Foss talks about the latest Cockerill Protected Weapon Station Generation 2 (CPWS Gen 2). This has a shell of all-welded aluminium armour and can be armed with a variety of weapons, the first example being fitted with the widely deployed 25mm M242 dual-feed cannon and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun mounted to the left, which can be reloaded under full armour protection.

good video as always. i think a 20mm would be a better option. smaller could carry more ammo.

Its no point how many rounds you can carry, if they can't penetrate today's advanced composite armour.

30MM can carry much larger explosive mass in the rounds and have similar capacity.

Only someone who's never known the need for fire support would suggest a smaller calibre weapon!
No one ever complained that the fire that took out the enemy was too big.

Yes but as secondary defence system while you still have te bigger main gun available. Or if you wish you can install also a laser gun as secondary defence system.

Alluminium armor. How can alluminium be regarded as armor??

is almost half the gun.
