- iPhone's shouldn't be dropped from 11.5 ft but if you really need to, I'd recommend getting this bumper!

We really like this bumper as it allows you to show off most of your iPhone in all its glory without compromising any sort of protection but there are things to note in terms of the fit and subsequently dust protection. It does improve the handling of your iPhone inside the bumper and it provide comes with 11ft drop protection.
Based on our time with this case, we gave it a score of 4.6 Eh’s out of 5. Out of the 3 dozen cases that we’ve reviewed, the Rhinoshield Crash guard is the highest rated case that we’ve reviewed. It handily defeats the Tech 21 Classic shell, the Thule Atmos X3 and the Griffin Survivor Core. In terms of drop protection, the only other case that offers over 10 ft drop protection is the Ballistic Hardcore but at 3 times the size.
In terms of design, this is one of the thinnest iPhone cases out there. Technically, its really just a bumper and this technically should put it at a disadvantage when compared to a full body case but that’s not the case. The bumper fits decently and holds up well after being bumper around a bit but we did notice a bit of give along the sides of the bumper. This shouldn’t be a concern for most people but I do believe it will offer slightly less dust protection than other cases. I’ll elaborate in a bit.
Lastly, the bumper is rubbery enough that you can put it down on a table and its not going to slide off easily.
In terms of accessing your iPhone, we didn’t have an issues with it. The only thing that we noted that the cutout for the lightning port wasn’t compatible with our Awesome Cables as it was a smidge too small. The Amazon basics cable, which is also a large cable fits through the cutout. In terms of accessing the buttons on your iPhone, the Rhinoshield Crashguard has some decent buttons on the bumper that allow you to get to those buttons without any issue.
In terms of screen access, the actual bumper doesn’t get in the way. With that being said, we did have a couple of issues with the screen protector which I wont’ go into details here as we have a separate review for the screen protector. Links are in the description section below. The last thing we’ll talk about in terms of functionality is how your iPhone handles in the bumper. The edge of the bumper provides your iPhone with a bit more texture so it’s easier to hold in one hand which we like. Basically, it allow you to keep the thinness of the iPhone while keeping it protected.
Now, for the screen protection, we went through the mini-drop test kit that Rhinoshield sent us and we took it one step further and tested the screen protector with a 200g ball. It survived. On our actual iPhone 6 Plus, we dropped Bertha, our 200g steel ball from a height of 24 inches and the screen didn’t break which is quite impressive. The same test broke our iPhone 6 Plus screen at 18 inches.
In terms of drop protection, we dropped the Rhinoguard Crash Shield from a height of almost 11 ft and the first time, landed almost back first and the iPhone was fine. The second corner drop did result in the iPhone bending a bit but we’ve been using it since and functionally, it still works.
So I’ll leave it up to you if you think it protected the iPhone 6 Plus. The device works but is damaged every slightly. Do take into consideration that dropping your iPhone from 11.5 ft is not normal, that the average person using this bumper isn’t going to do that.
With the screen protectors and bumper installed, the Rhinoshield Crash Guard will do a very decent job of protecting your iPhone. That’s why we’ve given this bumper one of our highest scores ever for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Our family has now owned 6 RhinoShield glass screen protectors, and 4 Crash Guard bumpers, mostly for different iphones (6s & SE), and 1 Moto X. In our experience, the products and the service are terrific. We each drop our phones periodically, the bumpers have stood up and among 2 adults and 2 teenagers, we have never damaged a phone. We recently had a warranty claim on a small but important product defect, and they replaced it quickly after an appropriate review of our circumstances, we paid $5 shipping and even got the newer v2 product. On the screen protector side, I tossed my phone down a steel escalator at the ATL airport (slipped out of my hand on the upswing, flew up, then way down the escalator, many bounces down many many steps, very ugly drop; I do *not* recommend this!). I was dismayed but not surprised that the screen appeared to have cracked. Upon inspection, it was the glass screen protector that did its job, and although it cracked, there was zero damage to the phone glass. (That phone had no bumper at the time, just the glass protector). The company sold me a discounted replacement, per their policy. I wish I could say that most products performed their designed tasks so well. And I wish I could say that other vendors supported their products so well. Hats off to Evolutive Labs, we have been very impressed, with several products, over several years.
I purchased the mod case and screen protector based off of all of these rhinoshield product reviews for my iPhone X. They’ve been amazing, thank you for doing these videos. Not a ton of fluff and subjective content, more objective test results. Keep up the good work!!!
I think you meant to say we've reviewed in your title description. By the way, that looks like an awesome case! I'm still rocking my Thule Atmos thanks to your earlier review of it. You rock Aaron!
If I get an iPhone 6 for my upgrade in September I'm definitely getting the rhinoshield crash guard combo
This is the best bumper case i have ever seen! i always thought bumper cases were pointless and bad at protecting your phone but this proved me all the way wrong!
Noah Turley words of wisdom right there
@mobilereviewseh awesome! So glad to see a company create a case that lives up to what it offers!
Own this case because of this review. Purposely dropped my 6+ several times. No damage whatsoever. Recommend the black one due to possible color fading.
+hargefries charcoal black or the black that is really just a dark gray
I just subscribed, I don't usually subscribe to things like this, but due to the fact that you give great information and do great tests! and put one hundred percent facts on here, I'll for sure a supporter! Keep up the wonderful job. This case if for me!
Purchased because of this review. Works amazingly well.
Thanks I really want it but I'm worried about having a plastic screen protector
+DanyDoes u can just get a glass shield if your worried its not protected enough... I might just get this beastly bumper which is rare cause I never liked bumpers ever but I wanna protect my baby cause that bitch was over $800 and u bet I'm spending money to protect it
Plastic screen protectors aren’t as nice but work better than glass.
Please can you review the catalyst waterproof dropproof case for iPhone 6 or 6 plus
I have the case for iphone 6, the front do have a very good protection, BUT the back of my iphone do have a slight dent may be when there was a time when i have another phone in the pocket and the two was squeezed a bit inside. Im not sure of the material of the screen protector at the back if it is the same with the front. If you put keys together with the iphone it may put a dent as well. So i changed case with a plastic back cover for protection for the back made of aluminum. The glass on the front ofcourse will resist dent as it is one of the properties of it.
I honestly think you are one of the best tech youtubers, you deserve much more subscribers and i hope you will get there :), quick question. Just got a iphone 6 plus, what is the best case/bumper you would recommend
Body Glove Tough suit for the Galaxy S4. My phone is still working well and still going strong! Awesome case.
Great video as always. Keep up the great work, I just ordered my rhino shield....
Can you please review the PureGear Slim Shell Case for the iPhone 6?
***** I will put it on the list.
When the iphone 6S and 6S Plus come out, would you wanna review if the screen protector affect the function of 3D Touch?
+Silva Hawk I plan on it.
Is the screen protector sold separately? Because i really would love that protector.
japanuke Hey yes we do sell the protector by itself! you will find everything you want there: www.evolutivelabs.com/pages/store
Yes
i wasn't sure about this case but after i watch this video now i am sure for my iphone 7 plus i will get this one
remember you can only protect the phone if it falls flat, if your screen/back fall onto a sharp object then your phone will be scratched/screen will be shattered. I wish it had protection for the back of the iPhone, I mean for the jet black you will just scratch it in a few days without back protection.
put temper in back and front
I know you've reviewed a lot of Ballistic cases already, but I was hoping you can review the Ballistic Tungsten Slim.. It's an exclusive from Best Buy, but I've seen it on Amazon as well.
Dude!! I love your reviews!! excellent content and very entertaining to boot. well done!
and yes I'm from California.
+Nick Klaus Thx!
Problem is that it breaks from 11.5ft?!?!? I might as well say that I can drop my Otterbox Defender from the space shuttle! That outer bumper appears to have given as much protection as it looks! I want an iPhone Case where I feel completely safe that the "iPhone" will be completely protected, and hopefully the case a well! iPhone safety is Vital, "for me", but i appreciate your option, and love your reviews! Probably the best on the net! and look forward to a Lifeproof Nuud review!
Otterbox sucks
I dropped my iPod 4 with an otter box defender on it and it just landed on its back and cracked the screen
Otterbox for iPhone 4 Is not comparable to present day iPhone 6 Plus Otterbox cases! Case Thickness is now greater to match the increased sized on the Larger iPhones. I've dropped mine many times with Zero damage to the iPhone on the inside! And feel confident about dropping it, without worrying about the iPhone! Sounds like you had a Bad experience with Otterbox, but that doesn't mean Otterbox haven't made changes! I'm happy! (Except for there Screen protector, that's indeed is poorly made), but does protect well!
can you make a review on a magpul field case for the iphone 6 plus? it would surely help us decide on other case like this magpul field case. thank you
I got the 5s version and I love it 👌🏼
I would be interested in seeing more screen protector reviews. I don't know if you have reviewed either the Tech Armor or Phantom Glass products for the 6/6 Plus, but I've heard these protectors tend to be really great quality. I'm still debating whether or not I need one, but if I get one, I'd like to see some reliable opinions about them!
I was waiting for this after i the drop test video. This is the case I want for my 6 plus. Just put in the order.
I think even though the back got messed up on the 11 foot drop, the case did its job because if your phone ever gets dropped from that high its probably the phone owners fault/negligence
it's not fully protect the screen especially on the edge side of the screen but it still work properly for the impact protection
I found a case I would like you to review the verus Thor case +MobileReviewsEh
Well I'm sold. I plan on getting an iPhone 7 when it comes out, I hope Rhinoshield makes a crash guard for the it.
+Steven Loving I'm sure they will!
Aaron, the rear protector, did you find that it did not extend "edge to edge," so to speak? In other words, does it meet the edge of the bumper on all four sides, or is there a space there where dust could enter? Thanks!
Aaron, did you get one for your dad lol? I loved the video you did with him on "best cases for old people". Or as he said "mature people' .....I bet he would like this case as it allows full view of the Apple icon in all it's glory and it comes in some bright colors. Thanks again for all your helpful and thorough (and entertaining!) reviews, they are the best on TH-cam. Thanks to you I have finally decided on a case (this one), I ordered one as soon as I saw this review.
nicolaxoxo1 I am totally going to ask him!
I think that is the best screen protecter for the iphone 6 nice !
Hey Aaron is the RhinoShield Crash Guard alone (without the screen protector effective at all?
Fantastic site and love the reviews! Thank you so much. A quick question - thoughts on this when paired with the Zagg glass for the 6 plus? Is it worth removing the Zagg protector and throwing on Evolutive's? I assume the bumper will work fine with the Glass but, I'm more concerned about protecting the screen. Thank you!
Awesome review like always! I'm really interested in this case but... Will this type of case(including the front and back screen protector) will protect the iPhone from bend? If not maybe I'll buy uag which have hard outer layer or waiting for lunatik 360 for iPhone 6 plus (hope they'll make it soon...)
Will you do a review and drop test for the Urban Armor Gear Scout Folio MobileReviewsEh ? I heard its a pretty awesome case
TheHamSlasher Not as awesome as Rhino Shield, so there is not point!
Dude, where did you get those glasses, very cool!
Case seems so well that I might get rid of my lifeproof case with this
Can i put a skin on top of the screen protectors??
The Zona The skins from Dbrand will work!
Under maybe
Can you review the Itskins evolution case? Seems like a good one but without the screen protection
RedPhoenixTech777 Just sent them a request. Thanks for bringing them up.
can you review the Pelican Voyager case
Pls tell me how to remove it. It's stuck on my iPhone. Help me
I believe you start with the top left or the bottom left and push toward the back of the phone
+Joshua Garcia ok I'll try that. Thanks
I find it's easier to take mine off by pushing the bottom right towards the back of the phone.
Is the lip on front big enough to protect a .3 mm Screen Protector from hitting the floor on a drop?
Can you do a review of the playproof from the same manufacturer please?
+jamesdaniel1987 www.mobilereviews-eh.ca/rhinoshield-playproof-review-iphone-6-s/
+MobileReviewsEh lol thanks
How scratch resistant is the screen protector
The screen protector I have now scratched so easy I couldn't even use it
Will the rear shield protect the protruding camera lens of the iPhone 6? I Bought the Thule Atmos X3, and love it, but I want something even slimmer without giving any protection.
awesome video and awesome bumper!!! Have 4 of that!!!
Could someone tell me what game he is trying @ 3:43? :) Great video btw! I've been using RhinoShield Combo since 2015 on my old iPhone 6 and is still in pristine condition after many many accidental drops on concrete, metal, wood etc. Now I'm using it a RhinoShield Mod with BP on the iPhone 8 Plus and I will never use any other case. I've made a mistake on the 6 (before knowing of RS) and droped it on the stairs and it has a little chop on the upper corner of the front glass.
Can you review the Levin iPhone 6 Plus Waterproof case please
That he best case I ever used, I had a 6s and it held up amazing
I've got Evolutive Labs new Mod case coming. It's suppose to be pretty awesome.
I'm looking for a thin rubber grip tape for my iPhone case something that will Maher it more gripy
If you put on the screenprotector can you still use the lifeproof fre case without removing it ?
I've heard of the rubber on this case wear away amazingly fast and more or less "disintegrate." Have you experienced this problem? How is the case holding up?
Came across your channel by chance and I love your videos. You've been my go-to for reviews and insight on new products. I'm completely sold on the Rhino Crash Guard bumper.
However, I am NOT sold on the screen protector that comes with it. I've seen your other reviews on screen protectors that you love, but unfortunately those do not fit with said bumper.
Do you have any rec's on tempered glass 9H screen protector for 6S assuming it'll be used in tandem with Rhino Bumper? The Ailun has good reviews & claims to have a curved edge, but it doesn't go edge to edge so thats a concern. Mainly looking for good impact protection from drops to avoid shattered screen. Thanks for any info! Keep on Rockin'.
Dude the screen protector is serious business, it's the best screen protector Iv come across. Iv dropped my phone waaaay more than I'd care to and not a crack in sight. And Iv had the case and screen protector combo for 10 months now.
So how does it compare to the Urban Armor case in your opinion? Can you use a rhino shield with the Urban Armor Case?
Okay, so this is very close to the griffin survivor core, just because its thin, but it protects the screen great! so Honestly I would think that this case is better than the other one you were saying that is "better"
Hey Aaron, I'm getting a 6 64gb space grey in April, and I'm probably going to go with this case. I'm Canadian too, so is this case is any best buy or any store or do I have to order it?
Thanks
I want to buy a case, should I buy this one or the Griffin Survivor core + a screen protector?
Love your channel and your reviews, they really do help when I need to decide what case to get for my iPhone. I wanted to ask you, is there some sort of protector/film that goes on the back of the iPhone (to protect the back from scratches or damages)?that comes with the bumper? Thanks!
Ethan Ng The $50 dollar package comes with a front and back protector.
Thanks!
Nice case. Question, is the rear protector plastic or glass?
I heard on Amazon and my friend said that after a while of usage the rubber starts to "disintegrate" my friend showed me and I saw the pics on Amazon so I'm getting the k11
can you send the pics
GamerzBoyz Look at the customer reviews on amazon just search rhino shield crash guard and click the first that shows up
I do have the same case and yes after sometime it will deteriorate, small chips will be present after few months of usage, the color changed a bit as well even if you clean it with alcohol. But i guess it is the same with most of the cases, i have the silicone and the leatger from apple, also the griffin survivor and they do deteriorate over time.
Yeah I used it for a year, but now it's totally fallen apart.
The rubber gets hard and cracks after a while, and a lot gets "sanded" off with just normal use (getting it in and out of your jeans for example)
Is the screen protector that comes with the $50 bundle the actual Rhinoshield screen protector, or just some cheap/generic one?
Does the bumper provide enough protection on its own or do you need to purchase the screen protector with it?
Thats pretty cool might just get this instead! unless you have opinions on the speck candyshell plus face plate or the new trent titanium case... i'm basically looking for a case that will save a cracked iphone 6.
Ac Macalinao Speck just sent me a might shell with a face plate. Once I finish the review for the screen protector I'll put it on.
I love the case although it does protect well from physical damage to the exterior of the phone it doesn't do well protecting the inside. I dropped my iPhone 6S Plus from my pocket onto a wooden floor and it landed around the speaker area. But now the Taptic Engine rattle weirdly at certain angles. I'm glad there's not physical damage but it sucks my new phone is slightly messed up.
+Steven Filippone Odd internal things like that might be covered by Apple's warranty if the phone is new enough. I've had several touchscreens go dead on my iPhone and Apple replaced the entire device for free.
Aaron what do you think about this case in regards to protecting against bends in the 6+? I work in a field where I load a lot of merchandise.
It looks amazing!!! Great test and review=]
Btw, I'm just curious to know the clarences between the iSight camera and some surface , is it easy to scratch it when using the RhinoShield Crash Guard?
+tonywth There is clearance for the camera. The lens is the hardest part of the iPhone so its going to be fine: th-cam.com/video/kE0cqxBJJTA/w-d-xo.html
if your creative you can make your own just study the diminsions for a couple hours and mold the rubber its that small and that expensive might be a good idea to make one if you wanna save some money
Would you choose this bumper over the Thule?
Thanks.
Do you need to use the screen protectors
The protector for the back is as protective as the screen protector?
BazingBazor Yes it is!
This case would be compatible with my iPhone 6 plus if I already have a glass screen protector right?
Yes it would!
Is it worth to buy the screen protector? I heard it is easy to scratch
Its easy to scratch but tougher than most screen protectors. Get it if you're rough with your device.
I'm sold but I wonder if I could I use the bumper without the screen protector?
+robbkabob Yep.
Thanks! Maybe I should've elaborated, but I'm curious about how much protection I would get from just using the bumper. How would the phone hold up with just the bumper?
can you do a review on maxboost duraslim series cover?
Hey Aaron, do the bumpers get dirty easily like most light colored bumpers out there?
does the thickness protect the camera too?
great gameplay! great way to show off the game. unquestionably some great ideas for future videos on our channel.
Can the back come off or damage with regular pocket movement as you take the phone in & out on a regular use ?
I have the iphone 6s plus and im interested in the promo
How hard is it to install the screen protector that they send with the crash guard
Is it possible to use a different screen protector? (Like sir lancelot holy grail)
Can you use these screen protectors with the lifeproof fre?
Hi! I had a question---the phone 6s' camera protrudes out---will the bumper protect it? I was also wondering how much protection one could expect from only using the bumper---I would be using the Zagg screen protectors. Thanks!
+Missi N Dropping it shouldn't be an issue. The back is exposed if you don't have anything covering it...which might be a problem. The camera is fine.
Nice review, where'd you get your glasses? @MobileReviewEH
Do you think the white one would get dirty?
Hello, do you consider Rhino Shield Crash Guard (with the screen protectors and bumper installed) more nicer, compact and thin than Thule Atmos X3? Which has better grip? If is for you, with which you stay?
Thanks for reading my comment.
How did you manage to get all the bubbles out on the back? For the life in me... I can't get them out along the bands for the antennae on the iPhone 6!
+Chimpur I never had bubbling but there were gaps where the Apple logo and Bands were.
Yeah thats what I meant; the two bands and the Apple logo..
I can't decide between this or the Playproof?
Will this work with an edge to edge glass screen protector (probably not)? If the answer is no, should I get a normal glass screen protector or should I spring for their protector?
Just in case anyone else was wondering the same thing, I got the case today and it fits perfectly with my edge to edge glass protector!
I have a question? I can apply tempered glass and the Rhinoshield Screen Protector in one another? For Double the safety of the phone? :)
Yes you can I did it on the back of my iPhone 6 plus
while this videos show how tough the case and screen protector are.... a real life "test" demonstrated a much different result. My son accidentally dropped his iPhone 6 from a height of about 4-5ft onto a wooden floor and the screen scattered. so.... don't let these videos provide you with too much confidence because real life is much different.
Is the screen protector included in the bundle thats for 50$? The one that you tested out? Is it all togther?
the bundle includes the bumper in your choice of colors and both the front and rear screen protectors
could you review the tethys submerge 6 plus case? its normally 100 ish$ but its on sale and loosk good
Glibzer Just sent them a product review request.
Is this case worth the $40? Idk if I should get this or the speck candyshell grip
Can you please review the Spigen Neo Hybrid EX?
I probably won't for the iPhone 6's but I have reviewed them for the Galaxy S7's. www.mobilereviews-eh.ca/spigen-neo-hybrid-review-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-cases/
Is the screen protector solod or bendable and it it plastic or glass?
Does the back screen protector give impact protection?
whether rhino shield bumper raising tempered glass (screen protector) such as full 3D spigen / Tyrex / remax brand?
Please Do The Magpul Field Case
Is it possible to use a selfie stick with the crash guard case with a 6s plus?
what are the results without the screenprotector, just the bumper, and the other way around????
+Sjoerd van Loon 4.4 without the screen protector
Love your channel thanks for doing this review thank you so much.
