A swedish author and explorer, Jan Myrdal also drove a 2CV in the african desert som time in the 50s, with very good results. But when the oil in the motor run out, he used mashed bananas as a lubricant....
oh it lived in Bavaria - it should know hills. what an amazing piece of engineering- actually this direction is what truly sustainable EVs should go into
This reminds me of my first car, a 1967 VW Bug. I'd get it going as fast as possible, maybe 80MPH on a long downhill just so I could do 40MPH on the next long uphill.
Omg this was hilarious and a bit scary on the turns you three iconic guys are phenomenal together kase your hilarious in this you being facetious is magnificent
There is a great video on TH-cam: “Modded 2CV 720cc” where someone put in a bigger engine and it makes a huge difference. Seeing this car flying around English country roads, and going fast uphill in 4th gear, is really a trip.
Hill climbs in 2CV6s should be kept to 2 people. A third, especially of a passenger of fuller figure.... There is no synchro on first gear and your need to double de clutch above 3-4 mph. 2CVs since 1981 had inboard disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear... The rear ones are occasionally noisy depending on brake dust, wear and temperature. From 1948 to 1980 they had inboard front drum brakes. Yellow / Black Charlestons were replace by Light Grey / Dark Grey - the final 2CV6 on 27 July 1990. 2023 is the 75th anniversary of the 2CV and my 45 anniversary of owning 2CV6s, bringing 3 new RHD ones to Australia after use in UK and Europe. In 1982 I shipped my Charleston from France to Halifax for 7 months across Canada & USA after 6 months in Europe, Ireland & UK. More Smiles Per Mile - Down Under...
Ok, so went went on a vacation in the Belgian Ardennes.... When you cross Leige (Luik) you hit a steep hill on the highway. It is a 3 kilometer climb with a 7% grade.... One 2CV6, mum and dad, two children on the backseat AND a small trailer with our camping gear. I almost made it to the top in 2nd, but had to go back into 1st for the last bit.... To get it in 1st gear while rolling you can rev it up a little bit, with double clutching. Just like you drive a standard in a big rig
And a fact about the brakes.... 2CV's use LHM fluid to brake. This is a hydraulic oil, used in Citroen, Bentley and Rolls Royce cars.. The brake disks, pads and drums are not the concerning parts. It is the fluid. When you hold you foot on the brake pedal for a extensive time, the fluid heats up and at a certain point it flips over from oil into a watery substance: Brakes gone! When the oil cools down, it turns back into oil and everything is back to normal.
Remember it is a 2HP.... You Can't KILL them..... So easy to maintain.... Fantastic suspension.... BUT you have to be Born French to know how to drive it... Absolutely unique and Great Fun to Drive
The sad thing about this video is that Citroen would beat 3 of my cars up that hill. (1963 King Midget, 1948 Crosley wagon, 1923 Model T). My 1913 Indian motorcycle might beat that Citroen. Gotta love odd cars even if they are slow!
why that limit so slow that road, any modern car a fun road the fun taken away because low limit. i see that so often on usa country roads. uk we have much more narrow roads even single track (only just wider than fiesta) what can be a 60mph and modern car when you get to safe place to do 60 it feels like 120mph on those single track lanes. to have fun on slow road have very slow car what might tip over or feel that way
If you were by yourself you would have done it a lot faster. Also, 1st to 2nd gear there is no synchromesh so you have to double clutch and revmatch. And a hint: it doesn't roll even at J turns😉
It will run with moonshine.... I now because i did already😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Do u think this car is underpowered? The mustang Cobra spec at this time had an 140 cu in (2.3 L) four-cylinder Turbo engine, rated at 131 hp (98 kW; 133 PS).... ....so talking about underpowered......
I suggest that you do not invite your back seat passenger again, he spoiled the vibe and did not buy into the whole 2CV experience. It is a wonderful car and a really important piece of automotive history. BTW, you could slightly re-calibrate the engine, get the c.c. up to around 700 c.c. + and then go up the hill climb even quicker , enjoy!
You have perfect car for speed limits. You shouldn't drive at upper end of speed limitation, except if there are perfect conditions on the road. I hope you didn't exceed speed limit on the way down.
There’s no synchro on first, you need to double declutch to get a grind free change from 2nd to first 👍🏻
Could’ve also stayed in 2nd.
A swedish author and explorer, Jan Myrdal also drove a 2CV in the african desert som time in the 50s, with very good results. But when the oil in the motor run out, he used mashed bananas as a lubricant....
This is why Raid Tan Hill is popular with 2Cv clubs in the UK. A hill climb to the highest pub in England.👌
Also try 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs and camping gear 😀, or driving Oxford to London on 1 spark plug.
2cvs are awesome
Une fois là-haut tu fais la descente avec combien de pinte
That car is a legend! Absolutely amazing!
oh it lived in Bavaria - it should know hills.
what an amazing piece of engineering- actually this direction is what truly sustainable EVs should go into
My first car and I loved it!!!!!!
This was great! Love your channel, especially the 2CV content.
The guy in the back hurt the 2CV's feelings. No wonder it refused to go faster 😂 But rest assured, you can only roll it over in reverse.
That was fantastic! All you needed was some folk music playing in the background, then it would have been ART! You guys are the bomb!
I want to see you guys take that thing up Pikes Peak next!
This reminds me of my first car, a 1967 VW Bug. I'd get it going as fast as possible, maybe 80MPH on a long downhill just so I could do 40MPH on the next long uphill.
Super fun video guys. This will be a great series
These are such a joy to watch!
Kase is too funny 😂, between his sarcastic and sassy comments it made for an awesome video.
Omg this was hilarious and a bit scary on the turns you three iconic guys are phenomenal together kase your hilarious in this you being facetious is magnificent

Buhanka, Fiat 500, Mercedes diesel, Beetle.
Case was funny here. Couldn't wait to jump out at the end and I don't blame him.
You guys should buy a 90s jdm K truck or K car and to video with that and the 2CV
Nice and funny video. Think about me in the west coast of Norway with "only" uphill roads in my -83 Charleston
LOL stop it ✋🏻 I cannot handle the three of you together. 😂😂😂😂
That was fun! I love grumpy Case :P
Your 2CV videos are my favourite ones. More please

They crossed the Sahara in one of those! I used to have one- great little buggy!

It probably goes round corners much faster than many American cars!
Brakes have a nice solid pedal (on the floor)
Tommy, your vids are the best! Funny and cool! Love the little Citroën
can i request on how the suspension works? it's very unique no vehicle is equit with such design 💪
Old cars with new statistics are awesome. Owned a 71 bug
And a fact about the brakes....

Ike Gauntlet! DO IT!
Nice video! I love these type of videos. I think you should do a Ike gauntlet fully loaded with people in this car, lol.
best suspension with out fancy electronic modules
Take that thing up Pikes Peak!
Hi, In film "For Your Eyes Only" 1981, James Bond 007 drive a Citroen 2 cv ( y think is dyane)
The sad thing about this video is that Citroen would beat 3 of my cars up that hill. (1963 King Midget, 1948 Crosley wagon, 1923 Model T). My 1913 Indian motorcycle might beat that Citroen. Gotta love odd cars even if they are slow!
Pikes Peak is next!
Can the 2CV make it up Pikes Peak!
Mine has. The last couple miles I was down in 1st. It barely started up on top when we left - the air was too thin.
You guys need to watch Super GT on TH-cam. He just put out a video of these racing in Gran Tourismo 7.
Not gonna lie, that thing is cool
You missed 3rd gear at 30 miles an hour...That could make you do more,i guess...
Cool car
Ike gauntlet next?
If you can’t find it, grind it! 😂
With my 1974 Citroen DS 23 Injection Electronique it would have gone a little faster.......
can't be rolled or tip over exept if you reverse😅
why that limit so slow that road, any modern car a fun road the fun taken away because low limit. i see that so often on usa country roads. uk we have much more narrow roads even single track (only just wider than fiesta) what can be a 60mph and modern car when you get to safe place to do 60 it feels like 120mph on those single track lanes. to have fun on slow road have very slow car what might tip over or feel that way
he he the Fiat 500 should be next . . . but I would assume it'll beat the Citroen.
Next time try it in sport mode
If you were by yourself you would have done it a lot faster. Also, 1st to 2nd gear there is no synchromesh so you have to double clutch and revmatch. And a hint: it doesn't roll even at J turns😉
🤣🤣🤣good one!
Now try the hill climb in the beetle
What a cute car, you guys are so cruel!
Hahaha (no synchro on 1st)
It will run with moonshine.... I now because i did already😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

That’s easy need to go up the back side n

Keep the revs up, 5000 rpm + and never ease off on bends, thr car wont roll. Keep unnecessary weight down.
No exaggeration; a modern 250 cm³ motorcycle engine has more power than this thing
The French in generally not quite as fat as most Americans so you don't need such big cars with big engines.
Lol
You have perfect car for speed limits. You shouldn't drive at upper end of speed limitation, except if there are perfect conditions on the road. I hope you didn't exceed speed limit on the way down.
It would go faster if you got rid of your friends.
Tu peux prendre les virages plus vite la voiture ne se retournera jamais
