Nice instructional video Larry! I’ve used Loctite bearing locker which is very similar to the product you used in this application. Question! Has anyone ever designed a high volume oil pump for the Corvair engine? Are all the oil pump gears dimensionally the same? Can you mix and match? 😊

Hello CJ! There are high volume oil pump kits which consist of a pair of longer gears, a housing extension, longer bolts, and gaskets. The more deluxe kit includes a new longer idler shaft that would be installed as per this video. The high volume kits should really only be considered in certain situations where additional "plumbing" (like an additional external oil cooler), or 'loose" bearing clearances would use the additional volume without causing excessively high oil pressure.

Im having a hard time knocking out the idler shaft i have the engine out wanted to reseal it.I hit several times and it doesnt move should i just leave it alone?

typically the idler shaft knocks right out without much force. As noted in the vid, It's hard to get a punch straight onto the top of the shaft with the crankshaft pully/harmonic balancer in place, so you may have to remove the pully/balancer in order to get a straight hit. If you are able to hit your punch straight on and the shaft still won't budge, I'd stop and leave it where it is as long as you verify it hasn't moved the bottom of the shaft below the gasket surface.
