I did this to my L5 S1 disc it healed over time but as I got older now standing more than 10 minutes gets me numbness in my leg of course when the weather changes I still have a lot of sciatic pain.

@@sakkarabeirre i also have pain in my butt with spasms and pain going down my leg for longer than 2 months now. And its killing me specially the butt pain i can't sit or even stand any longer than 5 minutes. I don't know what could be causing it. Will get my MRI result tomorrow. Could my butt pain be knots too?

I had a herniated disc L5/S1, it was 6mm out and 22mm across. I was unable to stand straight. I was also leaning more to my right, they call this a "Shift". This needed corrected first!
I made a full recovery over a 6 month period using the different variations of the Mackenzie method. One thing I was told is breath in when you arch back and if needed get someone to put pressure at the bottom of your spine so it stops you from lifting your pelvis off the ground. Doing this aids the recovery process.
Hope it gives anyone hope that all is not lost when you have back issues.
Ps. I have never stopped that exercise to date, because like they said it really does help with poor back posture.

Same boat as you, going on two years best advice I can give is never give up on yourself and get walking for me that was a blessing that made my back feel better total recovery took over 6 months I was able to go back to jogging after 4 months. I was very thankful to find B&B to help me get through, the press ups helped a huge amount and continue to be a daily routine.

A hip flexor stretch or a bridge release the tightness in the pelvis without compressing the discs. Low Back Trax helps too.

My son just had emergency surgery for a herniated disk L4 L5 he lost control of his urination and when they went in they found it to be out quit a bit and calcified so they got as much as they could and it's been 2 1/2 months and he's back to work with no pain and is trying to sit right so as to not have this happen again. He has a sit-down job as an IT Tech. So hoping I win so I can give this to him. Love your videos!!!

Bob and Brad - have been diagnosed (MRI) with a ruptured and slipped disc at L5-S1. I have lost 80% of the disc height. I am suffering from leg pain all the way down to the foot but no back pain. Contrary to most materials I read or watches, bending forward is a good way to relieve the pain for me. I want to get the opinion from you the reason why bending forward helps me, which seems to opposite to the advice I have been getting. Thank you!

I need help!!!! Not sure if it's a bulging or hernaited disk. Fisioterapist says I would feel pain in my back with a herniated disk and just feel it extreme pain down my left leg and sometimes can't stand on it. Yea I get this MacKenzie move but by doing the opposite direction won't the bones cut the disk in half or damage it more? Probably can't force then. Can't stand still, have to keep moving and funny barefoot no chance of walking but put shoes on and it's almost no pain. Shit I'm struggling. Please help

The press up reminds me of a combre' backbend in ballet done horizontally and without stretching the spine upward first. I healed a herniated disc without surgery but doing this motion (compressed combre'=press up) scrunched the discs, caused pain a few hours later.

You must go to licensed therapist who is trained in this technique. Just ask. You can't do it to yourself. Don't try to get a friend either. It is a specific massage. I don't know how they do it because you must be trained. So ask the therapist first if they have the training.

My 2 bulging discs are from a fall at age 12. I'm 38 and have constant chronic pain. PT, chiropractors and core and spine exercises make it worse. I see a pain specialist regularly. S1-L2. It's not fun and no one has answers just Band-Aids. What the heck can I do? Spondylosis is on board with a deep sway back (I know the term but it has escaped me at the moment), hip bursitis and degeneration..

@@protomaverick8425 I was born in 1981, my parents didn't have health insurance so I never went to the hospital unless I was bleeding, or had a fever over 102. My first major back injury I was 6. I was on a rope swing and fell off landing on a large flat Rock back first. At 12 I feel down a set of wet stairs tailbone first and my dad's answer was to have his girlfriend at the times sister "pop" my discs back in. It was horrific. It's been an ongoing issue my whole life since. My upper back is hunched over to the point of restricting my lungs and my lower back curves in so far that when I lay down I need two pillows under my back because my lower back doesn't touch the surface I am laying on

Hey Bob and Brad, got a question for you...I've been doing things to ease my herniated disc symptoms, and they seem to be working. Your suggestions along with my orthopedics have been very helpful! Thank you!
The numbness and tingling in my fingers has even subsided. However, I notice swelling in one of my fingers. This is one of the fingers that I've had tingling and numbness in before. I'm not sure how long it's been swollen.
My question is can a pinched nerve or herniated disc cause swelling in your fingers? My pointer finger looks the most swollen and it's my C6, C7 that is affected.

I used to work in a freight warehouse and got made into a manual handling trainer, a way that was presented to us as a way to pass on the lessons about looking after your discs with lifting was to use the example of a donut, it made it easier for people to relate to when we asked them what would happen to their "jam" if they moved in certain ways.
