I don't *think* so, the wire "claws" keep the mic from going flat on the solder pad. I also picked it up to try. I'd try it again right now but I can't find the thing, that's the problem when you build two kits a week and usually 4 weeks before the video goes live, things get tossed into my "save to scrounge for parts" box and I can't find 'em....
