Haha, oh man, that entrails of that controller really seemed like they had been through the wringer, so to say, or...god only knows where, haha. No idea what the previous owner was doing with that thing, with all that hair, and gunk, etc. in there, lol. Absolutely awesome job restoring it cosmetically, looks amazingly clean. Great job with the wiring as well. From inside to out, this AES joystick is looking top-notch. I love the AES joystick, one of my favorite controllers of all time, so it's really fantastic that you brought this one back from the dead, and made it look as good as new. Great stuff Luke!
Nice repair. I've wanted to see inside an AES stick for a while as I've repaired my own Neo Geo X stick in the past and wondered how similar they were. Looks exactly the same :) as I had been told it was
The tape on the back may have been to muffle the sound from the buttons rebounding. The discoloration was definitely NOT “from having the logo covered with tape.” If you look, many of these sticks including nearly all listed as “junk” have a faded Neo Geo logo, particularly on the right side where your hand may rest during use. The logo was already fading and the tape was intended to prevent it from getting worse. It seems weird that such an abused stick was actually cared for like this but I recognize it because it’s the first thing I’d do if I got one with a good logo. :)
Hey Luke, if you plug the controller into the 2nd player slot, Hold A, B, C and D at the same time and turn on the console, you'll get a controller test menu (I just verified it, if you do it in the first controller slot, you get Memory Card Manager)
Ooh Luke! I wish you would have shown how you tested and matched the wires. I am trying to fix a pad for mega drive which has a damaged wire. You used a capacitor to test for continuity? How did you find out which wire correspond with which button?
Nice job cleaning. To me it's kinda rare that I see a full Neo Geo label on the controller. Because normally I see controllers that just say Neo. Since the Geo lettering looks washed off. But I think it's because people rest their thumb on it.
Is that black electrical tape I see? You should get some shrink tubing. I can't remember the last time I used electrical tape since buying a kit with several sizes of shrink tubing. Nice job on bringing the controller back to life!
I ALMOST GOT IT! "Like always, I'll put up another video here SOON so... Thanks for WATCHING!", it is just soo challenging to say; it makes me wanna remember it to say it when you do. XD
Hey I wish I could have you check some of those japanese used game stores for me I'm so jealous!!! Just picked up a neo geo aes and I need to expand my collection... I only have 2 games... :(
awesome reviving that stick, can i ask for the color coding ofthe stick and the neo cd cord? i need to do it myself also my neo stick is been cut of by my dog so im using 1 stick since my little bro, cant play with me anymore. hahaha. hopefully you can share it bro.
You had to show the crust and pubes just as I stared eating breakfast, thanks bro. Seriously though, great job as always. How did yo know which wires to connect to which wires?
haha, sorry about that man. Checking the pin outs on the controller and then using my multi-meter I check where the wires end then looking at the controller I wire them accordingly :) Hope you are having a good breakfast

Pubes in your controller! Nasty! Cool vid either way, always enjoy you fixing junk
Wish I had me one of them Neo Geo AES's. Great job as always Luke!
In the carfixing world, they call that stuff "human residue" :D The ingredients vary from object to object it seems. Great video!
HAHA! "We washed our balls and they feel good". Always good for a laugh Luke.
Great job Luke, you made it look like new.
Good job. I won't say anything about freshly washed balls...
haha, thanks bro, Im glad you liked it......the video, not the freshly washed balls :/
Awesome, Luke! Thank you very much for uploading these videos.

To remove the tape mark, try putting a strong tape over it and when you peel it off it should take the adhesive with it.

Are broken AES sticks common in Japan? I would love to get my hands on one so I can salvage for parts!
Great vid Luke! But you didn't explain to us n00bs why an AES controller would work on a Neo Geo CD system.
Great work on the controller. Nice Neo Drift Out conversion. Do you have box and manual for it?
My "top loader" needs one of these!
Nice fix Luke.
Another item saved thanks to Luke.
Nice repair job.
Great save luke! :)
For removing glue and such, have you tried using something called 'goof off'?
nice repair luke it kinda reminds me of the snes controller i found in verry nasty shape
Really cleaned up nice ....and that was.a porntastic controller repar!
I ALMOST GOT IT! "Like always, I'll put up another video here SOON so... Thanks for WATCHING!", it is just soo challenging to say; it makes me wanna remember it to say it when you do. XD
Brilliant enjoyed that.Hairy controller.:)
Nice work as usual:)
Pubes, balls, shaft and fiddle. All in one video.
COOL VID, could we see more PC ENGINE or turbo grafx please like they PC-FX ?
Well it seems that unlike pig and elephant DNA, Neo Geo AES and Neo Geo CD wires do splice.
What did you use to shine the controller?

And we've washed our balls, there a little bit old but still nice and smooth.... Quote of the Year,
lol, thought I would throw in a bit of dirty humor just for fun here. you cant talk neo geo controllers without emphasizing the condition of the balls
Haha, I'ts amazing how many things i know how to fix from watching your videos, :P
we washed our balls? seriously? o_O xD
12:29 I always say that when I'm playing Dead Or Alive.

Don't believe everything your priest tells yah!
I hope for your sake it wasnt pubes in the controller haha ^^
ronsons lighter fuel worked miracles on decal removels
