Greenhorn James doing a fine job of piloting the vessel, it's great to see the next generation of Fish locker gaining some invaluable experience. I've never seen one of them sponge crabs before, nice to see something new.
John - It was certainly an unusual catch. Since sponge crabs are so different, what are the chances of donating him to a local aquarium for display purposes?
Keep going John. All we can do is educate our children to do what's right. Sadly some do not and cause upset for others. James will not only carry your values but make a fine skipper 😊
Loved the video John showing your boy the ropes, and getting stuck into the sandwiches. He has obviously listened well to what you've taught him, knowing different species etc. There are some lowlife about, hopefully get their comeuppance some day. What a delightful day to be afloat.
Sorry for those losses, can't have anything these days. Nice to see the sponge crab raised a smile and so good to see James at the wheel. He is really growing, hope your pot can be found.
I think John, it would be fair to say that both you & Hannah would be very proud of young James & the way he is growing up, thanks to his mum & dad. He looked pretty comfortable, to say the least, in his stint as 'skipper' of the boat. It's a pity there has to be so many 'scumbags' in the world today, even in England mate. How low can people stoop to pull another persons pots & steal the contents & probably regardless of all the regulations in place. One nice lobster was a nice little reward & haw cool was that little Sponge Crab. Frustrating & yet rewarding at the same time. Hope you do manage to get the one 'lost' pot back. Cheers to all, Don from South Aust.
Couldn't get over the concentration on James's face as he drove the boat out, so grown up bless him. Really gutted about the pots, feel for you mate. World's full of em. Another great video, cute little sponge crab, first I've heard of. Chin up carry on regardless mate, all the best👍
Very glad to see you both smiling at the end. Yes, an interesting trip! Didn't even know there was such a thing as a sponge crab, let alone ever see one. Thank you for that proper little gem. And for all the other great stuff you share too!
Lovely video, John. Nice to see you are keeping your standards up even when others have none... Good analysis of sets and depths and tides makes things clearer for us rod fishers. Wish I had a solution for the pot robbers and will now lose sleep over how to combat that..., thanks, Andy
John, I admit I know little about fishing, But I learn a lot thanks to you. What is the penalty for stealing from your pots? What does local law enforcement do about these thefts? I like that you are teaching James the right way.
very mixed haul this time, glad it ended with that special crab, that was incredible to see, wouldnt have even known they exist if it hadnt been for this video, really enjoyed watching that
Sorry to hear about the contents of the pots getting stolen! Great video all the same! Love watching your content. Thank you for making these videos! Big fan!
James is well mannered and really clever for his age and he's a credit to you both. As for the pots you can buy waterproof GPS trackers so you would when they have been moved or taken. They may also know on what days and times you check them so I would change the days and time and you may catch them in the act. A friend of mine put a rubber chicken in one of his pots as they were also getting emptied my scum bags. He knew they couldn't resist taking the chicken but what they didn't was there was a tracker inside it. I'll let you guess what he did when he found them lol. I look forward to your videos every week, great content and very informative.
Hi John, sorry to hear what has happened to your pots, will not say anymore! Great to see Captain James at the helm!!! Hope the divers can find your lost pot. Thanks for telling us how you position your pots and how the tide can effect them. Thanks for another informative video, all the best mate. Graham🦞🦞🦞
Hi John & hello again from Oz, I once found one of my pots almost a km away from where I set it, I use top loading bait baskets & both of these were missing, it appears that whoever pulled my pot just dumped it after taking the crays out of it. The weather had been calm for days so it wasn't moved by bad weather either so it appears that Ned Kelly is still alive & well. I would dearly love to catch these mongrels in the act. Anyhow tight lines John & all the very best to the family.
Years ago we've had tons of poaching with our fish traps.Even saw a boat pulling them but our commercial boat was too slow to catch them. Speaking of Sponge crabs we used to catch similar crabs in our traps every once in a while.Totally an awesome sight. Cheers.

yea as a scuba diver "pot finding " is something the can easily do . in Pembrokeshire we used to find a few ghost pots and would just open them up to stop them becoming just self baiting

I love doing things with James like this. 😊👍🏻
Keep going John.
All we can do is educate our children to do what's right. Sadly some do not and cause upset for others. James will not only carry your values but make a fine skipper 😊
James will learn what is right and what is wrong from Hannah and I. 😊
Loved the video John showing your boy the ropes, and getting stuck into the sandwiches. He has obviously listened well to what you've taught him, knowing different species etc. There are some lowlife about, hopefully get their comeuppance some day. What a delightful day to be afloat.
James makes me so proud. 😊🦀🦞
I like dads face while the big man was running the boat!!
Happy proud dad.
well done john pity about the missing pot but still a good day
out on the boat
Aye mate. You win some you lose some. 🤷🏻♂️🦞
Your composure in the face of adversity is admirable!
Also, James piloting!
I learned long ago that I am the only one who is responsible for my mood. Everything else is an external.
love the pots strategizing this episode
😉🦞🦀
Sorry for those losses, can't have anything these days. Nice to see the sponge crab raised a smile and so good to see James at the wheel. He is really growing, hope your pot can be found.
James did a wonderful job didn’t he. 😊🦞🦀
Love it from the start. Young James driving the boat. Top Dad there matey xx
He’s a natural. 😉👍🏻
As you say, frustrating but it could have been worse. Just regroup and carry on. 👍🏻🦞🦀
Couldn't get over the concentration on James's face as he drove the boat out, so grown up bless him. Really gutted about the pots, feel for you mate. World's full of em. Another great video, cute little sponge crab, first I've heard of. Chin up carry on regardless mate, all the best👍
A few scumbags won’t stop us doing what we love mate. 😊👍🏻
....sorry for your loss squire....but talking about positives....your boy is a 🌟.
He is a little sweetheart isn’t he.
Look at that little man taking the helm!♡♡♡
He’s such a sweetheart isn’t he. 😊💙
@@TheFishLocker indeed:)
Nice video that great for James to be involved inbetween his sleeps!
Sorry about the thieving hope next haul is a bumper in the new locations
It happens mate, James and I had a good day regardless. 😊
Great to see sponge crab lifted your spirits I'd never even heard of them before, perfect ending Master James and yourself having joke
They are cool little guys aren’t they. 😊👍🏻🦀
Very glad to see you both smiling at the end. Yes, an interesting trip! Didn't even know there was such a thing as a sponge crab, let alone ever see one. Thank you for that proper little gem.
And for all the other great stuff you share too!
By people publicing the link and promo code like that, they take it away. 🤫
I can feel your frustration! People always touching things that is not theirs! Hope you get the one pot back at least. Good luck buddy!!!
Aye, fingers crossed he divers come up trumps. 👍🏻
Lovely video, John. Nice to see you are keeping your standards up even when others have none... Good analysis of sets and depths and tides makes things clearer for us rod fishers. Wish I had a solution for the pot robbers and will now lose sleep over how to combat that..., thanks, Andy
The best solution is a man on the cliff with a rifle. 😉🤣
Wonderful video as always. Thanks for being a bright spot in a long work day!
We are simply doing our best. 😊
Regardless of the slimy thieves. Nice to see James enjoying himself after all he has been through.
We always have a good time. 😊🦀🦞
Really a shame about the thieves 😡. You have great little apprentice with you! Wonderful memories you’re making!!! ……. Thank you John!!! 👍🎣
Any time Kevin, have a great day bud. 😊👍🏻🦀🦞
James is a trooper. You make a good team!
The best!! 💪🏻
Lovely vid to watch, sorry the pots were pilfered, wishing you lots of luck on the next haul to make up for it.
Thank you. 😊👍🏻🦞
aww so cool james can only just see over the steering wheel and he is piloting the boat eye eye captain james lol
He’s a skipper in the making!! 😊💙
John, I admit I know little about fishing, But I learn a lot thanks to you. What is the penalty for stealing from your pots? What does local law enforcement do about these thefts? I like that you are teaching James the right way.
The best type of justice for that type of crime is local justice.
very mixed haul this time, glad it ended with that special crab, that was incredible to see, wouldnt have even known they exist if it hadnt been for this video, really enjoyed watching that
Every day is a school day mate. 😉🦀
Great video John your James is an absolute treasure and steering the boat I bet he can’t wait for the next trip 👍👍
He has been asking me daily when we can go out again. Sadly the weather is poor atm.
Sorry to hear about the contents of the pots getting stolen! Great video all the same! Love watching your content. Thank you for making these videos! Big fan!
Thanks Kevin. 👍🏻🦞
Trackers would only work if they took the pots. Otherwise I’d need to be there at sea when they were hauling them.
That kid is going to be an amazing fisherman one day, he probably knows more about fishing than me.
Haha. He is a natural isn’t he. 😊👍🏻🦞🦀
Now that's a good dad. Cheers, keep it up.
Just doing my best.
Big Man can even drive!!! Hahaha that's awesome, I'm sure you're super proud :D
Very very proud. 💙
Lol! I just caught what James said when he tossed back his second lobster: "Tell your friends what happened to you!" 😆
That made me laugh too!! 🤣🤣
Hi John, sorry to hear what has happened to your pots, will not say anymore! Great to see Captain James at the helm!!! Hope the divers can find your lost pot. Thanks for telling us how you position your pots and how the tide can effect them. Thanks for another informative video, all the best mate. Graham🦞🦞🦞
My pleasure Graham. All the best mate. 👍🏻🦞
I feel the same George. The best justice would come if I caught them myself.
I'm glad you've mentioned the sponge crab..I've caught a few small ones of these on baited hooks.i had no idea it was a crab
I think you’re most likely catching the seabed mate. They are extremely rare. 🤣
@@TheFishLocker lol maybe but they looked the same
Years ago we've had tons of poaching with our fish traps.Even saw a boat pulling them but our commercial boat was too slow to catch them.
Speaking of Sponge crabs we used to catch similar crabs in our traps every once in a while.Totally an awesome sight.
Cheers.
Those are the days you need a rifle.
Never seen a sponge crab before but been treated to 2 today on good old TH-cam... you need a captains cap for James....he looked the boss at the wheel....gutted for you about the pots but you always look on the bright side thanks to the keeper lobster and the sponge crab
I can’t believe Troy had one too. How crazy!!
Omg your little man driving the boat was awesome 👌
He’s great at it isn’t he. 😊👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker yes definitely 🥰
you have such a good bond with your son . great video
He’s such a good lad isn’t he. 😊🦀
I’ve told you before, but, that lad of yours is stellar.Great to see the interest he has in fishing, also identifying species.Sorry to hear about the low life’s taking your catch.Godwilling they’ll be caught, hopefully by you!🇨🇦🇬🇧🍁👍
James makes us so proud. 😊💙
It warms my heart.
😊💙🦞🦀
The 2 of you doing father and son is spectacular!
We love getting out on the boat like this. 😊💙🦀🦞
@@TheFishLocker keep it up! Always a joy to watch.
Over looking the scumbag issues! it's always nice to see you and the lad out on the boat doing sea like adventures, and a keeper lobster along with a Sponge crab amazing creature a first for me too never see or heard of them, that's life learning along the way, James is getting a great schooling his knowledge already is worth its weight in gold
Some things you can’t learn in school can you mate. 😉👍🏻🦀
Brilliant video once again !!👍👍👍
I’ve fond memories of sleeping/snoozing in my Grandads boats when younger - one of which is the smell of fibreglass mixed with salt that I’ll never forget, but get reminded of and takes me back 👍☺️ Happy days.
All the best 👍
I have the same memories. The smell of fibreglass always reminds me of being a kid doing repairs on our boat with my dad.
Thanks for another great video! The sponge crab is crazy cool! Thanks for sharing fam ❤️
Any time. 😊👍🏻🦀
Yes mate I said he’d be skipper soon , didn’t quite think be that soon🤣👍🏼 he looked well briefed in what to do,well done James.rya level 2 no probs 👍🏼.
Tuff day on the haul tho John, I hope you’ve had some luck with the dive club! appreciate your time and efforts 👍🏼👍🏼
Fingers crossed the dive lads will find it for me. 👍🏻
yea as a scuba diver "pot finding " is something the can easily do . in Pembrokeshire we used to find a few ghost pots and would just open them up to stop them becoming just self baiting
That’s a fair thing to do. If you could recover them and they were clearly lost, you could sell them second hand.
@@TheFishLocker normally to heavy lift. You would need lots of buoyancy to lift it and that’s not something you want in case something goes wrong and you wiz to the surface. Can be done with lifting bags tho that’s not normally something we would dive with
