- This is the video you're looking at restoring a rusty, broken axe that is in a state of non-recoverability to restore.
Not long ago, I went to my father-in-law's house in the mountains and found an ax that broke and left for about five years. So I decided to bring this axe to life, and I made this video.
First of all, we've got free sample support for a massive rust.
Remove rust with ROK.3 product
I sandblasted the surface.
Then, using a bench vice to fix the axe and heating it up.
I've narrowed the gap. You succeed in reattaching it.
Welded with a free supported SERA-200MIRROR arc welder,
It's been fixed more solidified.
Then we'll use the abrasives to Working, and then we'll use the McStar flat disc.
The surface has been polished and polished.
I took the roadchain from the rusty lever block in my warehouse and made it into an axe handle.
We decided to make axe handle by welding chain with non-gas welding machine MIG-230HD product that received free product support.
I'm satisfied with the results, but the holes in the axe head are not completely blocked.
The first broken, steel plate added, showed signs of welding once.
So I couldn't fill the hole perfectly.
We've completed the restoration and finished cutting down the trees.

Well, the crack should have been split open a bit more, to weld the metal from the deepest part of the crack to the surface part.

Yes. AND THAT'S A SPLITTING MAUL WITH A HANDLE OF MJOLNIR! It's utterly useless. And that handle is crap. At elast he could have casted some resin around it.

That should have been ground out to a V and pre heated before welding
should have thrown it in the forge first then worked on the crack that way

Con esa cadena que le pusiste no me gusto para nada la terminacion .
To just remove the rust, he used rust remover, then sand blasting, then sanding. Just sand from the beginning. And if you are going to sand, remove all dings.

Repair Man,
I really think you did a wonderful job removing the years of rust, wear and breakage. The only problem I have with what you did (further, its none my business about what you did and maybe my comment is just my own opinion) is that you made a chain handle for the axe. Sure, the chain handle is good for a few licks on some wood but, if you had to work with it for any period of time, a wooden handle would be much nicer. Also, the axe probably had a wooden handle to begin with.
Great job man. I learned some things about accessories for the angle grinder.

as someone who has worked on cast steel before, the author should have:
1 - used a nickel rod
2. had the metal heated to a rather high temp using oxyacetalyne
3. had all of the cracks ground and beveled to better penetrate and mend the entirety of the damage.

My question is. I see lots of restoration videos and why if you have a sand blast cabinet do you but the piece in a rust remover? Why not just put it in the blast cabinet first? Save time.

Great ax restoration, however, I would have used a hickory wooden handle.
걍 장식용으로 만드셨으니 상관없겠지만 용접시 4부분 정도 가접을 해서 분리되지 않도록 한후 용접부위 내외부를 그라인더등을 이용해 홈을 파고 용접한후 가공을 한다면 강도가 몇배는 올라갑니다. 홈을 파지않은 경우 침투깊이가 얕아 내부는 해당 크랙이 잔존합니다. 그리고 하지로 긁었으니 용접물의 깊이는 1센티도 안될듯 합니다.
이거 보면서 저도 용접 내부에 내구성이 괜찮나 싶었는데...요런게 있군요
이미 용접을 생각한순간부터 실사는 아니라고봐야죠 영상 퀄도 떨어지는거니 단조잘하는영상좀보시믄도움될듯 퀄이다름
개선의 유무는 용접 강도에 큰 차이를 보이죠

Obviously a display model, but certainly not a usable tool. You really need to get the gas for the new welder and practice welding. But I would have ground out the cracks and welded them in many passes to build it up to a quality finish. And I am more partial to wood handles myself. But being how this is your project, Thumbs Up!

ㅋ 기존에 피로누적으로 인해 금간부위를 갈아내지않고용접했기때문~^^ 용접 조금이라도 해보셧으면 아실텐데ㅋ 도끼는 타격을하는 도구이므로 내충격성이 표면용접으론 무리입니다
왜 비꼬는걸로 보일까..
실제 사용하기엔 무리가 있고

Вообще выборка делаются болгаркой, потом варится с последующим углублением электрода, а то что он поверхностно приварил он лопнет от удара,

Didn't prep before welding to grind a valley into the area. Since a repair was already done maybe this fix should have not been done as is.
