      Well, if I had not ever heard SoaD (or that much metal, for that matter) and then heard this, I would probably assume it to be something modernistic, possibly 1920s France or Germany. Beethoven is very recognizable, so I wouldn't mistake it for one of his pieces. Still, SoaD holds up quite well on piano in a way only good music does. Try looking on some pop on piano, it's very uneventful for the most part.

    Interesting that some older people stopped by to see and listen to her thinking she was playing an 18th century classical piece. Piano versions of modern rock and metal is a great way to introduce the genre to the older generations because a metal song has the same amount of beauty and complexity as a piece by Chopin, Strauss or Mozart.

      I listen to both all the time. Hip hop because the On the Spot delivery and flow that should be unique to the rapper as well as the words they use, the way the tackle societal issues as well as social issues.

    • @Luemm3l
      @Luemm3l 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      sorry, but that is bs... if you go into technical death or some power or heavy metal there might be some similarities, but that's about it. Not wanting to take anything away from both, but Metal is also under the popular music and usually a whole lot easier than real classical piano sonets or something. Although I have to admit that I was pretty impressed when some dude transcribed suffocations music to a whole orchestra and it soudned like some weird 12-tone music :D That's death metal for ya then.

    • @TallicaMan1986
      @TallicaMan1986 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Luemm3l Of course metal for the most part is easier than piano. Piano is about playing the bass and the lead at the same time.
      But as far as I know. Technical Death Metal has some of the hardest shit. The timing has to be right or its a mess. Your drummer has to be master level, Technical Death vocalists are surprisingly the lead guitarists most if the time.

    • @Luemm3l
      @Luemm3l 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sorry, that was a misconception or rather badly explained on my part. What I meant was not classical piano per se, but "classic" as a music genre... to which I would not only count piano pieces, but also chamber music, brahms, bach, mozart, you get the idea... What I noticed is that Vik is not only emulating the bass parts with the left hand (that is a already a feat on its own), but often times doesn#t rely on the melody played by the instruments but also that of the vocals, as is the case here as well. I don't think the average metal song has the complexity and beauty in terms of composition or similar musical techniques as something from Mozart or Chopin (depends also of course on the musical piece, there are simpler ones, but generally speaking). Still, bands like Spawn of Possession or neoclassical Elements in some TDM Bands can be complex and beautiful as well, so that, if you were to transpose them on piano, you could think it is a classical piece. But this is a small part of all metal music. I love both btw, metal and classical music (also love rap, dnb, jazz, etc. pp)

    • @TallicaMan1986
      @TallicaMan1986 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Luemm3l I guess Metal in a soft spot between Jazz and Classical. I for one like Classical Sound, But Jazz gets in deep I love the time signature changes complex drums Musicianship as a whole. You should listen to Necrophagist if you already haven't.
      A lot of metal to me is like Tchaikovsky. It has the inherent brutality and rules bend constantly.
      Also Jason Becker and Cacophony as a whole is worth a listen.

      don't obsess to much over the "talent vs practice" thing.
      "you're blessed" "you're really good at it, I can see you put a lot of dedication"
      it's exactly the same thing, it's how people try to compliment your skills in the first way they can, what's important is, someone likes how you play
