Personally i learn from video! I learned everything from YT and online courses. And now i have bigger clients than my employer i still work for, with his company. My images i retouched go over the world. I'm proud for what i have learned the last 5 years.
I am happy today to have found your TH-cam channel. Over the years, I have gathered varied experience, skills and education, but have found it difficult to merge everything together towards a common pursuit. Maybe you have thoughts on this subject. I’m going to watch more of your videos and also recommend you to my kids. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. I’m sure you are having an amazing journey!
Look at my response to Øyvind Hermans question about podcasts. I just posted a whole list. Most of my favs are about entrepreneurship - which graphic designers NEED to know about to promote themselves better. Graphic design doesnt have many good podcasts - it is a very visual subject, so audio isn't the best format to talk about it. That's why I do video! Thanks for watching MsSkuzi!
Junard Escrupolo, Thanks so much!~ Can you do me a favor as a small thank you? Please share my video with a friend or two! I'm trying to build my subscribers. More to come!
Juan, Thanks so much! I appreciate your watching and taking the time to comment! Let me know if you are struggling with anything in particular. I take requests!
I am a designer with over 13 years of experience but I felt always my designs were not clean cut. Always outside the box. Any advice on how to create more crisp work. I also struggle with creating designs for today's trends. I heavily rely on what other designers do. Also because of this I lack the confidence to get into a respectful job. I am working in gov. contracting and can't seem to get work.
Javier, Don't be ashamed that you look to other designers for inspiration - the goal you should have is how do you bring your unique spin to it. How do you take what they've done and build on it? There are (almost) zero truly new ideas - everything is derivative in some way, shape or form. It all about what you celebrate and curate into your work.
I appreciate the response. My interest falls under minimalist design. Less is more is my philosophy. The more things you add the more things complicate themselves.
i dont have a degree in art and design. I only have a degree in civil engineering which i am still working on to get it right now as i am a student. However , my passion towards graphic design is much more than engineering. Is it possible for me to have a career in graphic design without an art degree?...im currently a student and have planned to pursue different routes in my future life and have been a graphic designer freelance in a company during my studying years now. Thank you for answering my question
nazmi, In short : anything is possible. But if you want to increase the *probability I would suggest getting some sort of formal design training. Mainly the basics in color, typography, image usage, layout, composition, art history. Its hard to learn that stuff without some sort of schooling. But you can do it at university, community college (continuing education classes) it doesn't have to be a 4 years accredited design or art school.
Like I really want to be a well-known entrenueperial fashion designer and I really learn from fashion articles and there pictures. Sometimes just pictures in magazines. But also love going to a Fashion Show, once in a while...will I learn alot from Fashion Shows or no ??
If you are going to be in fashion you have to get out there and experience every aspect of it that you can in real life. Yes! Go! Plus you'll meet people in the industry who can help you get started and introduce you to the people ho can give you a leg up. It's ALL about WHO you know if fashion - I was in the fashion industry for 15 years - it's very clique-y.
Check out: Chris Ducker's YouPreneur.fm podcast (listen to my interview on his show!). John Lee Dumas Entrepreneur On Fire. Pat Flynn's Smart Passive Income. Ben Amos's Engage With Story (listen to my interview on his show!). Aaron Pierson Branding Like a Boss. Neil Ball The Entrepreneur Way (listen to my interview on his show!). Mostly entrepreneur shows, but designers can really benefit from what they talk about - all of them.

Sounds Awesome Pieter!
I am so addicted to your videos...I really truly learn by looking at videos and just looking pictures. Especially on Pinterest & TH-cam.
Pinterest is my addiction, too. I can lose 2 hours and not even know where the time has gone. I call it "falling into the Pin-hole"!
