That Tour de France PSA was basically the best ad they've ever had for me to watch the Tour de France.
As a cycling fan, those fans are the fucking worse. They endanger the riders for their own ego, which is especially bad when a crash like that can end someone's career or life. It's the worse thing to see as a fan watching on TV.
For the sport itself though, it's a fun sport that is equal part sadomasochism and soap opera. It's full of team drama and there is a lot of romanticism in the journey of the race. Is the racing exciting always, no! If you think there's a lot of vamping in baseball, imagine a 250km bike race over 6 goddamn hours.
But like baseball, when it hits. Oh my god, is it fantastic. To be a cycling fan, you really need to appreciate what those monsters are able to do on a daily basis.
@@TSTypeR you description has now peaked my interest even more on TDF ! Whenever I’m able to catch it on tv I’ll watch about 30 minutes of it just to see the beautiful landscape of the country side of France. Now I’m going to now watch it for longer periods!

@@jbaby8255 honestly if you want to get into cyclist, I don’t think the TDF is a good entry point. Maybe the first two stage is a bit different. Try checking if you can watch last year UCI Cyclocross World Championship to see Wout Van Aert and Mathieu Van Der Poel duking it out. Literally the Ali v Frazier of cyclin, two all time greats duking it out.
Or if you don’t have one hour twenty go check out EF Pro Cycling going racing series. Anything to do with Lachlan Morton or the Tour of Flanders episode is fantastic
